Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption  website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC      Pluto is an affectionate, 70 pound, neutered male dog.  Pluto is very sweet, healthy, and happy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and the vet estimates his age as 6 years old.   Pluto is great with people (including kids) and most dogs. His favorite things include pets, cuddles, naps, and chew toys. He keeps himself entertained but will chase after toys and gets excited when we take him for walks or on a drive.    Pluto plays well with our other dogs, however, we have noticed that he can be possessive  over toys if boundaries are not set. He is house-trained and not possessive over food. He is quiet and will only briefly bark when we have a package or visitor. He will use the bathroom in a fenced yard or on a leash.  He has met one cat. He was not aggressive but seems to have a prey drive so he would do best in a home without cats. He is fine in the yard with our chickens even without supervision. We feel Pluto could be with other dogs or as an only dog.   Pluto is crate trained; however, he does not need a crate. He prefers to be out of his crate. He is well mannered so he is allowed to free roam even when we are not home.  He knows where he is allowed to go and what toys he can play with.  He is used to us being gone during that day for work. We check up on him on the dog camera and he is usually sleeping.    At night, Pluto sleeps on a couch, recliner, or dog bed depending on his preference. He does prefer to sleep with us but snores way too loud.  Pluto is a wonderful dog who is gentle, and friendly. He is always ready to snuggle up next to you on the couch and receive pets. He will make a great family pet.  Could you consider giving him the loving home he  deserves?  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Pluto was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023. A BFPA volunteer found him and took him in.  We are helping this sweet boy find his forever home.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants should ideally live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize adoptions.  For the perfect home for Pluto, we will considered approved applicants who live a bit further away from the Triangle area of NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING PLUTO? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs. Please consider this sweet girl today! Here is our application:    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Frannie is a sweet and beautiful, Blue Brindle Pittie. She's about 2 years old and weighs around 45-50lbs. She is gentle natured with lots of personality. She's super cute and will give you a silly, full body "giggle" wag! She loves being with her people and is a wonderful companion. Frannie has done well with her crate training and house breaking. She needs to be crated when left home alone (6-7 hours), and as of now she is crated overnight. She's food & toy motivated, eager to please and is learning basic manners. She is gentle with food and waits patiently for her meals. At times, she still acts like a puppy but also likes to chill on a dog bed and entertain herself with a bone or toy. Frannie overall has great leash manners. She can be an alert barker and would do best in a home not an apartment. Although, she goes potty well on leash, she would really enjoy a fenced yard to get her "zoomies" out. She has a moderate energy level and after playtime with her foster siblings, she enjoys exploring the yard and sunbathing on porch or lounging on couch/bed. She also likes to play fetch and is learning to bring back. Frannie would do best with good natured, neutered male dog that could help guide her when she's unsure. She would do OK as a solo dog also as she loves getting attention from her humans. She would do best with older kids (8+). She's good with "dog savvy" cats, but if kitty is shy and runs, the chase may be fun. Slow and appropriate intros are always recommended with kitties. Frannie had an unstable start to life and has some insecurities, but she will open up quickly with treats and sweet talk. She would succeed greatly with an experienced owner that can continue to build her confidence. Please consider adopting (or fostering) this sweet little lady! Check out Frannie's videos below! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PLEASE NOTE: If you are on PetFinder or other search site, you do NOT need to introduce yourself.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.    FOSTER COMMENTS: Jack is a handsome guy with a shiny coat and the cutest curved tail. In April, he turned 2 years old.  He is a Labrador Retriever mix who is fully grown and weighs 35 lbs. He is an affectionate dog that loves his people and stuffed animals.  Jack is initially timid with strangers but warms up quickly and is so friendly.  He loves other dogs and wants to play!  He is high energy so the other dog has to be able to deal with that.  He is very interested in cats and wants to play so he is best in a home without cats.  His energy level is alot for young children so he is best in a home with older children.   Jack is not a vocal dog but is excitable when he wants to go outside or be fed and will then bark loudly.  Jack is totally housebroken and crate trained.  He is in his crate when I am not home to supervise and at night to sleep.  He goes in his crate easily and I give him a treat each time he goes in. Jack loves other dogs but I think he would be fine as the only dog in the house.  He loves his people and all their attention. He will greet you with a doggie wiggle butt!   Jack would love a fenced yard to get out his energy, but he does fine on a leash if his adopter can make the commitment to walk him several times a day. Warm up your arm because Jack loves to retrieve a ball!  He loves his soft stuffed toys and will carry them around but will chew the stuffing out if not supervised, he's very "puppy" like.  Jack would be a great family dog, he's a great size, in excellent health and very affectionate.  He learns easily because he is treat motivated. He is ready for his forever home.  Could Jack be a new member of your family?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JACK? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All Best Friend Pet Adoption dogs require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application. The link to our application is    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.    It can also be found at bfpa.org.  FOSTER COMMENTS: Kala is such a sweet puppy who was born on 6/1/24.  She is a cuddly, friendly puppy.  Her momma, Tiki, is a 3 year old 30 lb rat terrier mix. We feel that Kala will be larger and probably at least 50 lbs when full grown.  Her Dad may have been a lab?  Kala is crate trained.  She stays in her crate overnight and when we leave the house without any issues.  She is a typical puppy learning lots of new skills.  Kala is housebroken but needs to be taken outside on a regular schedule.  She will let you know when she needs to go out.   We have a fenced backyard so we have not started training her on a leash.  I think Kala would be fine with either multiple walks or just playing in a yard in her forever home. Kala is very friendly with everyone she meets, young and old.   She also gets along great with other dogs. She loves to play with our three dogs.  We don’t have a cat so not sure how she would do with one in the house. I think Kala would be ok living in an apartment as she is quiet and does not bark when left alone.  She would also be ok if her family worked out of the house and she was left alone or with another dog. Kala is very friendly and loves to play with both dogs and humans of all ages. When she is not being her playful active self, she loves to take naps with you and snuggle. She has been a joy and the other dogs have enjoyed having a new playmate. Kala is packing up her toys already and is getting ready for her next adventure in life!   If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and sweet companion who's always up for fun, Kala might just be the pup for you! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Kala's  mother (Tiki) was rescued from a shelter and we didn't know she was pregnant. Her foster came home and discovered Tiki had a litter of four sweet girls waiting for her.  What a surprise! Maybe you can open your home for one of these lucky puppies. They love dogs and all people.      Applicants  should ideally live no more than 60 minutes from Cary NC.  For the perfect home for Kala, we would consider an adoption a bit further than an hour away.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING KALA ? The link to our application is  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.  It can also be found on Eno's bio page at bfpa.org.  Who is looking for an older puppy who has good house manners and is housebroken?  Look no further, Eno is your girl!  Eno is very friendly with other people!  She loves everyone she meets.  Eno has been around, 4 yo and a 10 yo children.   She gets very excited but I insist “No jump” and she will sit down.  Eno is housebroken but still needs to go outside on regular potty breaks. She isn't a fan of being crated but I leave her loose in the house for 2-3 hours and there are no accidents.  She isn't destructive and has good house manners. Eno is very friendly with other dogs. She currently lives with a larger dog and two cats.  She would probably do fine with a dog savvy cat.   Eno loves to potty and play in her little fenced in courtyard best but is learning to walk gently on a leash.  Eno’s has a lot of energy though she does sleep through the night and takes a nap every afternoon.  She is a gentle pup and can occupy herself for long periods of time with her toys. She especially loves a deer antler to gnaw on.  Eno’s new home can have a furry friend or she would do well being the center of attention as a solo dog also.   Eno can't wait to see what exciting adventures life has waiting for her once she finds her forever home! She is packing up her toys already and can't wait to meet you. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Abby is a stunning Rottweiler that is estimated to be 3 years old and weighs 65lbs.  After a rough start in life, she is now searching for her forever home.  Abby was never socialized properly prior to finding her way into  Best Friend Pet Adoption.  She has since been through an intensive 8 week positive training program and did very well. Feedback from her training program is that Abby is loyal, loving, and eager to please. She is very food and treat motivated. She loves to work for her food!  Abby enjoys her nosework training to enrich her life.   Abby is now being fostered by an experienced dog person who has continued to work with her training and confidence.  She is crate trained, leash trained and house broken.  She needs a fenced yard and ideally some additional walks during the day. She has been crated for up to 4 hours.    Abby is currently living successfully with two male Rotties with low energy.  She will not do well with high energy dogs and   would do best as an only dog with an experienced, responsible owner.  Having previous experience with Rottie's would be beneficial.  Abby would not do well in a home with cats or with a first time dog owner.  When around new people, Abby prefers to be ignored and then will approach and engage with them.   Abby has lived with kids and would be ok with older children 12+ that are able to respect boundaries. Could your home be the right fit for Abby?   She has come a long way from her miserable life before Best Friend Pet Adoption saved her.  Could you provide a wonderful life for Abby?  She will give you plenty of love in return.  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Abby and her 6 puppies were surrendered to a rural shelter in August 2023 when the puppies were only 4 weeks old. Animal control did a welfare check and found Abby living outside in a pen with a huge sore around her neck from an embedded collar. One of our volunteers wanted to help immediately and agreed to foster Abby and her puppies. The puppies have all been adopted and now it is Abby's turn to fine a wonderful home.     Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants ideally should  live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  For the right match for Abby, we will consider applicants who live further away if they are willing to travel to Cary to meet her.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ABBY?
