Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption  website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC      Pluto is an affectionate, 70 pound, neutered male dog.  Pluto is very sweet, healthy, and happy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and the vet estimates his age as 6 years old.   Pluto is great with people (including kids) and most dogs. His favorite things include pets, cuddles, naps, and chew toys. He keeps himself entertained but will chase after toys and gets excited when we take him for walks or on a drive.    Pluto plays well with our other dogs, however, we have noticed that he can be possessive  over toys if boundaries are not set. He is house-trained and not possessive over food. He is quiet and will only briefly bark when we have a package or visitor. He will use the bathroom in a fenced yard or on a leash.  He has met one cat. He was not aggressive but seems to have a prey drive so he would do best in a home without cats. He is fine in the yard with our chickens even without supervision. We feel Pluto could be with other dogs or as an only dog.   Pluto is crate trained; however, he does not need a crate. He prefers to be out of his crate. He is well mannered so he is allowed to free roam even when we are not home.  He knows where he is allowed to go and what toys he can play with.  He is used to us being gone during that day for work. We check up on him on the dog camera and he is usually sleeping.    At night, Pluto sleeps on a couch, recliner, or dog bed depending on his preference. He does prefer to sleep with us but snores way too loud.  Pluto is a wonderful dog who is gentle, and friendly. He is always ready to snuggle up next to you on the couch and receive pets. He will make a great family pet.  Could you consider giving him the loving home he  deserves?  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Pluto was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023. A BFPA volunteer found him and took him in.  We are helping this sweet boy find his forever home.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants should ideally live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize adoptions.  For the perfect home for Pluto, we will considered approved applicants who live a bit further away from the Triangle area of NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING PLUTO? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs. Please consider this sweet girl today! Here is our application:    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Frannie is a sweet and beautiful, Blue Brindle Pittie. She's about 2 years old and weighs around 45-50lbs. She is gentle natured with lots of personality. She's super cute and will give you a silly, full body "giggle" wag! She loves being with her people and is a wonderful companion. Frannie has done well with her crate training and house breaking. She needs to be crated when left home alone (6-7 hours), and as of now she is crated overnight. She's food & toy motivated, eager to please and is learning basic manners. She is gentle with food and waits patiently for her meals. At times, she still acts like a puppy but also likes to chill on a dog bed and entertain herself with a bone or toy. Frannie overall has great leash manners. She can be an alert barker and would do best in a home not an apartment. Although, she goes potty well on leash, she would really enjoy a fenced yard to get her "zoomies" out. She has a moderate energy level and after playtime with her foster siblings, she enjoys exploring the yard and sunbathing on porch or lounging on couch/bed. She also likes to play fetch and is learning to bring back. Frannie would do best with good natured, neutered male dog that could help guide her when she's unsure. She would do OK as a solo dog also as she loves getting attention from her humans. She would do best with older kids (8+). She's good with "dog savvy" cats, but if kitty is shy and runs, the chase may be fun. Slow and appropriate intros are always recommended with kitties. Frannie had an unstable start to life and has some insecurities, but she will open up quickly with treats and sweet talk. She would succeed greatly with an experienced owner that can continue to build her confidence. Please consider adopting (or fostering) this sweet little lady! Check out Frannie's videos below! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING SALLY/ROXY?  If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.   PLEASE SELECT SALLY AS THE DOGS NAME!   Please consider giving Sally, now known as Roxy, the home that she deserves. She was adopted from Best Friend Pet Adoption as a young puppy into a home that gave her a wonderful life.  Sadly, her owner passed away and she is currently living with a family member who is fostering her in Wilmington, NC. The foster family loves Roxy and feels she is a wonderful dog.  They would formally adopt her.  But they have two  other dogs and Roxy isn't a fan. Roxy will do best as an only dog in the home. Roxy prefers human companionship and is pretty low energy.  She really loves her people.    Roxy    can be timid with new people.   She will need time to settle in but once she does, she will be your loyal friend.  Once she bonds with you, she will be at your side...giving you her adorable smile!   Roxy is housebroken and crate trained. She is up to date on medical care. She likes long slow walks, sniffing out the neighborhood and does best with a harness. Walking her can be a challenge when meeting other dogs, so an experienced owner may be best. Roxy's foster family is willing to help pay for training if needed. Roxy doesn't need a fenced yard since she is used to going on walks for her potty breaks. But she no doubt would like a fenced yard and would make potty breaks easier.   Her ideal home would be with someone who is home most of the time since she is not used to be alone for long periods of time.  She has not been around cats or children and would do best in a calm environment. Please consider giving Roxy a new home where she can be showered with love and affection. Sally is currently being fostered in the Wilmington NC area.  Best Friend Pet Adoption ideally would prefer applicants who live in the Raleigh or Wilmington NC areas. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 4:27 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PLEASE NOTE: If you are on PetFinder or other search site, you do NOT need to introduce yourself.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.    FOSTER COMMENTS: Jack is a handsome guy with a shiny coat and the cutest curved tail. In April, he turned 2 years old.  He is a Labrador Retriever mix who is fully grown and weighs 35 lbs. He is an affectionate dog that loves his people and stuffed animals.  Jack is initially timid with strangers but warms up quickly and is so friendly.  He loves other dogs and wants to play!  He is high energy so the other dog has to be able to deal with that.  He is very interested in cats and wants to play so he is best in a home without cats.  His energy level is alot for young children so he is best in a home with older children.   Jack is not a vocal dog but is excitable when he wants to go outside or be fed and will then bark loudly.  Jack is totally housebroken and crate trained.  He is in his crate when I am not home to supervise and at night to sleep.  He goes in his crate easily and I give him a treat each time he goes in. Jack loves other dogs but I think he would be fine as the only dog in the house.  He loves his people and all their attention. He will greet you with a doggie wiggle butt!   Jack would love a fenced yard to get out his energy, but he does fine on a leash if his adopter can make the commitment to walk him several times a day. Warm up your arm because Jack loves to retrieve a ball!  He loves his soft stuffed toys and will carry them around but will chew the stuffing out if not supervised, he's very "puppy" like.  Jack would be a great family dog, he's a great size, in excellent health and very affectionate.  He learns easily because he is treat motivated. He is ready for his forever home.  Could Jack be a new member of your family?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JACK? Story
This is Benson, affectionately known as Benny or Bendino. Benny came to us via foster in NC. He is just over a year old and has lots of love to give. He is an all around awesome dog. He LOVES people- and will greet everyone with a whole body wag. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys trips to the dog park to get as many friends to chase him as he can! And boy is he fast! He enjoys walks and would be likely to make a great running partner. Benny loves to just run around with the wind flapping his ears and a big smile on his face with his tongue hanging out. He enjoys playing with all types of toys. He enjoys kids. You might even catch him chasing his tail! He enjoys sunning on the deck too! Benny would be a great fit for an active family with a yard who would love to add in this cutie!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ARCHIE is a courtesy listed dog. He is not a part of Best Friend Pet Adoption. We are helping to find a new home for him. You must contact his owner directly. Please contact Katie at kbelton95@gmail.com  if you are interested in finding out more about sweet ARCHIE.   Archie is a 7  year old, 60 lb boxer mix who needs a new home.  His owners adopted him from the SPCA when he was around 2 years old. He is fearful of strangers and now that they have a one year old child, Archie is fearful of the child. He may act assertive around new people but is not aggressive. With a child this young, the owners feel that he would be much happier in a home without children.  Perhaps older, experience children who understand a fearful dog, but not young  children.   Archie gets along fine with the small dog in his current home. He could also be an only dog.  He hasn't had exposure to cats.  He is crate trained and housebroken. He used to sleep in his crate but doesn't need to be crated at night now. He is also neutered  and microchipped.   Archie is used to staying outside or n his crate while the owners are away from the house. He has moderate energy and loves walking, hiking but also enjoys his sleeping time!   What are is favorite pastimes.... walking, hiking, tennis balls and stealing blankets off couches to make nests . He is probably not a good fit for living in an apartment,   He would prefer a fenced yard because he’s used to it but he would be ok with regular walks and potty breaks.  Archie is a very sweet boy once he trusts you.  He loves scratches and treats! He is very smart and knows a few tricks and will do anything for cheese! His first and strongest love is for blankets, which he hoards as often as possible. He loves to make nests and snuggle into them! He is very obedient, doesn’t get on furniture and walks well on a leash! He just needs an experienced owner who will love him and help him with his fears! You must contact his owner directly. Please contact Katie at  kbelton95@gmail.com   if you are interested in finding out more about sweet ARCHIE.   ARCHIE  is a courtesy listed dog.  This means that he is not a part of or associated with Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA). The bio information listed for him was provided by his owner and not generated or verified by BFPA. Adoption arrangements will be a private arrangement between you and the owner.  As with any dog adoption, BFPA encourages potential adopters to gain as much information as possible before adopting. This includes temperament testing and verification of vet records to ensure the dog is in good health, UTD on vaccinations and has been sterilized.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 4:27 pm
