Story
Sugar Bear is a sweet 6-7 year old mixed breed dog (we don't know any of her breeds!). Since she has tall ears, we are thinking possibly Cattle Dog mix? She weighs around 35 lbs so she is the perfect medium size dog - not too big and not too small! Sugar Bear's family was evicted from their home and they put poor Sugar Bear out on the streets. Luckily, a neighbor witnessed this and contacted the local animal shelter. Sugar Bear is now searching for her forever home. Sugar can be a little shy when she meets a new person but once they pet her, she warms up very quickly! Since she can be a little shy, we would recommend a quieter home and one without small children. Sugar enjoys car rides, cuddling and always being with her person, going for walks and naps! Her favorite hobby is chasing squirrels so for that reason, she may not be good with cats or very small animals. She is in a foster home with another dog and does fine with her. Story
Rhea is a beautiful girl looking for a foster or furever home. She was born around March 2022. She is e-collar and crate trained, and she loves to play. She came from a background of neglect, abuse and health issues; but has overcome all of it with proper care, socialization and training. She still needs patience because she is fearful of new people without slow introductions, but once she knows you- she worships you and loves on you so hard. She just needs to establish trust and a safe boundary first. Rhea would do best as a solo pet for now because she is still learning. Rhea's preferred adopter will be someone who can provide consistent structure, open to families with older children (14+) as she is strong and still learning. She is a healthy gal who is spayed, up to date on all her vaccines, and microchipped. Her foster is gifting all her gear to her furever home: crate, blankets, a cot, ecollar and remote, slow feeding bowl, harness and collar. URGENT Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Romulus, MI Meet Zeke! He is an 4 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 55 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Zeke is good with farm animals and other dogs! No children or cats, due to his reactivity! Zeke bit the owner’s neighbor on the hand in 2021 after they tried to let him out. He recently bit the owner after walking into the house to take his son to the car. Zeke bit the owner’s wife while she was trying to lock him in a room. He also bit the owner’s father-in-law on the hand while he was going after the cat. He is on 100mg twice a day for his anxiety. The owner is surrendering him because he is jealous of their young son. He needs to go by 12/31! If you think you can provide a great home for Zeke, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Zeke. Story
Hannah was rescued by us back in 2017 from Empty the Shelters when she was 4 years old. She is such a well mannered, maintained cuddle buddy of a dog. She loves kisses and will nip just a little if you don't allow any. She is overweight and allergic to chicken. She's not a big fan of toys but still considers herself a lap dog. She's not a big fan on baths but she's very well behaved when she gets one you just have to get her in the tub.

Story
Diesel is my babyboy. He's been with us since 2016 when he was 8 weeks old. He is a purebred Blue Nose Pit and is the sweetest, most caring dog i have ever owned. He is very playful still, full of energy, he does need a fenced in backyard and by fenced in I mean Privacy fence that he can't jump. Diesel likes jumping because he likes to make friends but doesn't understand he's bigger than most dogs. At the beginning he had major separation anxiety, he can't be placed in a crate as he will get out, I call him my Hudni. He is terrified of fireworks, thunderstorms and is afraid of the dark. He looks aggressive but he is a very gentle dog and very protective.

Hi I'm Leroy. I'm just a pup growing into my bark and I don't know how to speak human, so I had to ask a ghost writer to help me tell my tail. One day I was walking down the street. I was all alone and pretty frightened. I don't remember how I got there, but then a nice lady saw me. She stopped doing her errands just to find me help. That's how I ended here, at the Madison Heights Animal Shelter. I'm doing much better. I'm finding my confidence, and the people are really nice, but nothing beat a home of your own and your own special human or family to cuddle and play with. So, if it's in your heart please adopt me. It sure would be nice to have a home to rest my paws and grow up with someone to love.
