Hydrogen A17374141 lb. spayed female, approx 1 year old -Playful and active but not playing with toys currently-Sits for treats and takes them nicely. As soon as she gets it, she lays down and takes her time eating it.-Loves pets and cuddles-Enjoys belly rubs-Gets occasional zoomies-Decent on a leash but pulls some-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30 BUT our adoptions are done 7 days a week from 10:30am -3:00pm. •The last potential adopter must arrive before 3:00 pm so we have time to properly help you before closing. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Kate O’Reilly A17281424 lb. spayed female, approx 10 months old -This gem of a pup is looking for a home to recover in!-She had surgery on her knee and a shelter is no place to heal-She’s doing well, but could use a home that can limit her activities while also doing some leg/knee movements to keep up the range of motion for her-She is super sweet and loving!-Affectionate and gives kisses-Treat motivated, sits and takes them nicely-Not into toys currently-Cuddle bug!-Walks decent on a leash…..but she is hobbling along so that may change-She’s a favorite of staff and volunteers and we would love to see her in a home. Whether it’s a foster or adoptive home…she deserves to recover elsewhere!-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. Story
--FOSTER PUPDATE--Snow White A16555550 lbs. spayed female, approx 1.5 years oldThis beautiful girl goes by Gabby in her foster home, and has a heart as big as her journey. Originally adopted at just 6 months old, Gabby found herself in an unsafe, abusive environment where she endured months of neglect. Thankfully, she was rescued and returned to the shelter, where she underwent multiple lifesaving surgeries and began the long road to healing—both physically and emotionally. For the past several months, Gabby has been thriving in the care of a loving medical foster. When she first arrived, she was severely underweight, unsure of her surroundings, and deeply affected by her past. With time, patience, and consistent care, she’s blossomed into a loving, playful, and silly girl who is now ready to find a forever home of her own.Gabby’s Personality:- Medium to high energy: Loves zoomies, snuggles, and chewing on toys.- Smart & eager to learn: Meals come in puzzle feeders or snuffle mats to keep her mentally stimulated.- Heavy chewer & self-entertainer: Durable toys are a must!- Working on leash manners: She’s made great progress with an Easy Walk harness and gentle leader.- Getting better with car rides: Still a bit nervous, but improving with positive experiences.- House-trained: She knows to potty outside and uses a dog door (learned from her foster sibling, Nono!). She also signals when she needs to go.Gabby’s Ideal Home:- A patient and understanding adopter who will let her warm up at her own pace, ideally with multiple meet-and-greets.- Someone who can be home most of the time or is open to doggie daycare, as she struggles with separation anxiety.- Ready to us positive reinforcement training to help her build confidence and manners.- A home without small kids, cats, or small dogs—she thrives with like-sized dogs who are respectful.- An adopter who understands her fear of crates and is willing to work through it gently and gradually.Progress & Milestones:Gabby has come a long way! She’s become more social with familiar faces and even had a huge win recently—she went on an outing, met four new people, and did AMAZING. No grumbles, no hesitation, and even went back for more pets! She’s also been visiting the same friendly faces weekly to help her feel safe and confident in new environments.Meeting people at her foster home has been most successful. Her foster has put in tremendous work to help her feel secure, and we want to ensure her transition is just as smooth so that Gabby doesn’t face another heartbreak.Could You Be Gabby’s Person?Gabby is more than just an adorable face—she’s a survivor who deserves a family that will never give up on her. With the right match, she will thrive and continue to show the loving, goofy, and loyal pup she truly is.If you're ready to be Gabby’s hero and are willing to go at her pace, we’d love to hear from you. She’s ready for her next chapter—could it be with you? This pet is in a foster home! If you are interested in meeting Snow White, please email foster@friendsofdacc.org with subject line “Snow White A165555”Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adoptThere is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, and $40 for cats payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

Story
I purchased Rosey from a rescue at 7 months old. She is now 2 years old. She is a very shy & loving dog. She will attach very closely to persons in the home, and be shy towards others. Best to have everyone in the family work together to get to know her so that she is comfortable with everyone. She loves to play with my cat, they have had a lot of fun together. She is friendly with my mothers dog for most of the time, but there are some situations where she's showing signs of resource guarding. She loves to play with toys and go on walks. She shows signs of trauma, and is anxious when I leave home. I want the best for her. Being in a home with someone, or a family, that takes time with her, and helps her when she seems anxious or scared. If there is a dog friendly cat, she would have a blast with the cat. I have winter coat, toys, & her puppy bed to go with her to her new home. I don't want money. It's very hard for me to let her go. I just want her in a happy home.

Story
This is Max! He’s a German shepherd/pit mix. We love him dearly but he just can not get along with our very confrontational husky. They’ve gotten into several altercations and it’s time we rehome him. He’s one of the sweetest boys ever for the size of him (110lbs). It breaks my heart to let him go but at this point we are out of options next to putting him in a shelter which I would prefer not to do. He’s house trained well, he very very rarely pees in the house and only if it’s been too long in between breaks. He goes 8 hours regularly inside while at work with 0 issues. He’s a very sweet energetic boy. He would be well suited for a home by himself with maybe 1 cat. He loves to chew on chew toys. We received Max at about a year old from another family who got him for their kids but they didn’t want to take care of him. He’s relatively well behaved, he doesn’t jump up but he will nudge you for love. Don’t be discouraged by his size, he’s a very sweet loving boy.
