Story
Olaf, the chocolate Chihuahua, is about 4.5 years old and looking for the perfect, quiet home with someone who is familiar with anxious and fearfully reactive dogs. He would do best in a home with no children, and not a lot of visitors. Cats are a no go for Olaf as are most other dogs. He would be ok with one small, submissive, low-key doggie friend as he likes to play occasionally, but he isn't very good at normal dog play. We lovingly think of Olaf's personality as a cat trapped in a dog's body. Olaf takes a daily anxiety medication to help him feel safe in his everyday environment. Olaf will need an understanding and patient person that will allow him space and decompression time when he gets overstimulated. Olaf is crate trained and for the most part potty trained. However, like any small dog he isn’t a fan of going outside in the rain or cold. He walks wonderfully on leash as long as no off leash dogs approach him, and he also loves to travel in the car. He does like affection on his own terms and will let you know when he no longer wants attention. Olaf's perfect home will need to be willing to give him time and show him patience as he is settling in to your lifestyle, they must also be willing to continue working on training to ensure he lives a happy and safe life. Most importantly Olaf will need a person that is NOT expecting a snuggly lap dog. While he will occasionally snuggle and sit on your lap, it will only happen when he chooses it. His perfect person would be looking for a tiny, quirky shadow that is content with his mere presence as companionship. Olaf is spay/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm tested and on prevention. Adoption fee for Olaf is $350. If you are interested in adopting Olaf, please fill out an adoption application http://www.furgetusnotrescue.org/application.html .

Story
Daisy is about 4-5 years old and about 20 pounds. She has been in a foster home for a year learning force free training, meeting new people, and going to new places. She likes having her own space that will fit her sleeping bag dog bed and is quieter. She will run there during storms and fireworks or when feeling stressed by neighbors in their yards. A fully fenced yard is recommended. She needs patience in new places, loves her trainer, and is enjoying scent games. If you live near Royal Oak, we will share information to make her transition to your family go smoothly. Daisy likes sleeping in the bedroom with her people. Sometimes on the bed, sometimes under the bed, and sometimes in a crate in the room. Daisy lives for walkies, but will run zoomies in her fenced yard at her foster home. Daisy knows some commands and works for treats in amusing ways. Chasing squirrels and chipmunks can be fun, but do not keep her attention if lawn crews, builders, or delivery trucks are in the area. Daisy is a great dog and will bring joy to those who are willing to help her feel safe. Daisy does not do well with small critters or cats. Daisy is spay/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm tested and on prevention. Adoption fee for Daisy is $350. If you are interested in adopting Daisy, please fill out an adoption application http://www.furgetusnotrescue.org/application.html .

Story
Hi my name is Frank! I am a 12 month old mutt who was rescued from Macomb Humane Society back in February 2024 when I was 3 months. According to my DNA results, I am 47% German Shepherd, 25% Perro de Presa Canario, 12% American Staffordshire Terrier and more! I am a BIG(XL) lover boy who is looking for a home that can give me attention during the day and a possibly a buddy to play with. I absolutely love going out on sniffaris, running around the yard, playing with my neighbor pup along the fence, chewing on sticks, snuggling on the couch and giving lots of kisses. I would love to have a large fenced backyard to run around with and do well with dogs my size to play. I love kids however older would be best since I have poor body awareness. I am smart and know commands including sit, stay, place, come, take a break, down, settle and working on leave it & roll over! My current owners absolutely adore me my older sister(8yo) decided she needs to be the only dog, I’m too playful for her!

Story
Neil is a 2 year old medium mixed breed. He is a very special boy with a very special heart! Neil has been waiting patiently for his furever home for the past year now. Over 400 days at the shelter is just heartbreaking and no dog deserves that. He just spent his second Thanksgiving with us!:( He is currently one of our longest residents living here at the shelter. Neil came in to our shelter as a stray dog and we thought he would be adopted immediately, but he is still waiting for his main person. Once Neil really loves you, he REALLY loves you. He is a very smart dog with a very big heart and lots of love to give to his best friend. Due to how long he has been here, we want Neil to be the happiest he can ever be and he will be required a home with a fenced in yard since he adores running and playing. One of the best characteristics about this handome lad is how loyal he is. He will always have your back and be there for you. Neil is dog selective and prefers female dogs over male dogs. Due to his stranger danger, we recommend children 12 years or older. The process for Neil's meet n greets will be that the potential adopter will need to met him at least 2 times before bringing him home. The first meet n greet will be t the shelter. The second meet n greet will be an in-home meet, where we will bring him to your house. If you are looking for a furry companion and think you can give Neil what he needs to thrive in life, please contact us and come meet this boy today!Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

Story
Ruby is almost 5 years old and waiting for a forever home. She is a very friendly gal who would <3 a home to call her own! Ruby is looking for a home where she can reign as the only dog. She is a queen and does not want to share her kingdom with any other dog. She is also only looking for older human siblings, if she has the option to have any. She would like if they were 12 years old or older. This girl loves to play with her toys and her favorite ones are the ones that squeak! She loves a challenge of finding the squeakers. She loves getting her attention and will melt onto the floor for her belly rubs! She wants her belly rubbed every chance that she can get! As much as she enjoys being loved on, she can also be a very independent gal. She likes to go off and do her own thing and will keep herself entertained. She likes her "me time". She does not require a fenced in yard for adoption, but would absolutely love one to play with her stuffies in while she basks in the sun on a warm summer day. Ruby is a very good girl and would love to show you how good of a girl that she can be. She knows some basic commands, and would love to learn more! Ruby's training has been sponsored by a very nice woman and a certificate for that will be given with her adopter for sponsored training! Ruby's owner has recently passed away and she really misses him and her home life. Are you able to be her next forever and treat this gem like the queen she is?Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

Story
Oreo is a large mixed breed who is 2 years old and a little over 70 pounds! He is up for adoption with his brother Blu and we would love to see them be adopted out together! We know adopting 2 dogs can be expensive and to help with the possibility of them being adopted out together, Blu's fee has been sponsored. Oreo is a very friendly boy, he is the more confident of the pair. He enjoys helping his brother out and making him feel safe and making sure he is also happy. He loves his brother very much. He does like other dogs as well too! He prefers calmer dogs to play with since he has a more of a mellow personality and would love to add an additional brother or sister to the crew. He also doesn't seem to mind cats and we would suggest a slow introduction to introduce to another species. We are unsure how Oreo would do with young kids, but with a slow and respectful intro...we would love to find out. It is required that Oreo's home has a fenced in yard. These two boys did not have the best start of life and were determined to make sure there second time is the last time. They were living at a boarding facility for the past year waiting for their parents to come pick them up before the boys realized they had been abandoned. Can you help heal their broken hearts and put the pieces back together for them? He is a very sweet boy looking for someone to love him back just the way he will love you.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.
