Story
Maple is a lab/aussie who has lots of energy and absolutely loves humans. Be aware that her energy can be a little rough for younger ones. She loves to play with cats and can play fetch and knows how to sit. She absolutely loves bath and will jump in your bathtub waiting for you to turn on the water. She is mostly potty trained as she is under a year old but has been very good when treats are involved. We got her before knowing I was pregnant and it unfortunately has taken a toll on me and my younger son isn’t too fond with her because of her energy. I am looking for someone who is able to take the time to train her and to give her to a great home!

Story
Arlo was born January 2023 and came into our lives April 2023. This is my wife and myself’s first pet dog. He is very good with obedience training (sit, stay, fetch, free, waiting for food until we release him from his place, etc.). He loves to play fetch, that is his favorite activity; whether inside or outside. He is crate trained so if you say crate, he will go to his crate. He can sleep in his crate or around the house. When letting him free roam around the house, he very rarely gets into anything he is not supposed to. We take him on runs or walks almost daily which he is good at. The main reasons we want to rehome him is his anxiety. He barks at any door opening, he growls at unknown people and will not let anyone groom him. Honestly I think he needs a house with other pets to help his anxiety so he can fit into a pack or he needs an owner that has experience with anxiety.

Story
We got Cujo in February of 2024 we found him on someone’s property and rescued him. Cujo is fearful, he snaps at people when he’s scared. He is crate trained and he enjoys being in his crate. It’s his safe space. He’s very playful and just overall He’s a very friendly dog. He’s the snuggliest dog you’ll ever meet, he’ll sit on your lap for hours, or cuddle with you in bed.

Story
Copper is our sweet 9-year-old miniature dachshund who has been a loving and loyal companion since he was a puppy. He thrives on attention and snuggles in bed, and takes his role as a protector seriously. Copper has lived with cats his whole life, playfully chasing them without harm, and has lived with another dog but is reactive to new dogs and people. For this reason, we recommend he be the only dog or have a slow introduction process if a second dog is involved. Despite two years of efforts to socialize him with our two-year-old, Copper remains uncomfortable and on edge around children. With a one-month-old now in the home, we realize this situation isn’t fair to him. He growls, avoids, and occasionally snaps (without biting) when overwhelmed. Copper would thrive in a child-free home or with older kids who respect his space. He’s potty trained but will need time to adjust to a new environment. Copper is a devoted companion looking for a calm, patient home where he can feel safe.

Story
Foster location: Eagle, Michigan Meet Axel! Axel is a super handsome 1.5 year old Cattle Dog mix that is looking for his forever home. He is a very social boy who loves playing with his foster siblings and running with them in the yard, going for walks and meeting new people and then cuddling up on the couch at night with his foster mom. Axel has been attending doggy daycare and loves it! Axel is house and crate trained and walks good on a leash. He is great about chewing on his toys and bones and not getting into things he shouldn’t. Axel would enjoy an active home with another young dog to play with, he has really bonded with his foster siblings and enjoys running and playing with them. Kids make Axel nervous so he is looking for a home without children. Axel is a very sweet and smart boy and catches onto new things quickly, he is young and ready to learn! In order to set him up for success we would recommend his family enroll him in a positive reinforcement training class upon adoption. Axel’s adoption fee is $300, he is neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, dewormed, and current on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Please follow the instructions to apply for Axel found in the auto-reply you will receive or email adoptapupanimalrescue@gmail.com for an application. Adopt A Pup is 100% foster-based which means we do not have a centralized facility where you can visit our dogs. The first step towards meeting the dog(s) you are interested is to complete an application. One of our volunteers will contact your references and set up a time between you and the foster to meet and interact with the dog(s) of interest.
