Story
*Sadie is NOT at UPAWS *Meet Sadie! This loyal, loving, and independent pup has plenty of energy to spare. Whether it`s running, hiking, or long walks, Sadie is happiest when she`s active and exploring the outdoors. She’s an all-season adventurer, loving both the snow and the beach. Her playful personality thrives with belly rubs and plenty of human interaction.Sadie would do best as the only pet in a home with a strong, kind handler who can give her the attention and exercise she needs. She’d be perfect for someone with a farm or a large yard where she can run to her heart’s content.Interested in learning more about Sadie? Reach out to:cadelman@nmu.edu or (517) 388-3992.

Story
Meet Gamora, a sweet and gentle 2 year old Boxer mix looking for her forever home. This beautiful girl start in life which has left her feeling very timid and unsure around new people and new situations. Despite her fears, she has a strong desire to be brave and is making small strides every day.Gamora`s ideal home will be one filled with calm, patient, and kind-hearted individuals who understand that she needs time, love, and gentle encouragement to come out of her shell. Fast movements and loud noises can spook her, so a serene environment would be best. If you have children, they should be older (15+), respectful, and calm to help Gamora feel safe. She also needs to be the single pet in your home. Our hope for Gamora is to find a family who will cherish her and provide the nurturing care she deserves. We encourage you to bring your entire family, to meet this lovely girl. With the right environment, Gamora is sure to blossom into a devoted and loving companion. If you think you can offer Gamora a loving and understanding home, please reach out to us. Gamora might be shy, but her heart is full of potential for a lifetime of love and loyalty.

Story
Pluto is a rescue, in his previous home he was abused and neglected. When I got him he wasn’t trained at all but he has learned a lot. He is potty trained but does get nervous being alone. He dies still potty inside sometimes but rarely. He does chew things but if he has lots of toys his attention will surely change. He’s loving, cuddly, and energetic so he needs a big yard and someone to walk him and play with him. He is scared of some men and dogs but when he gets to know them he loves them like he’s known them forever. He’s a good listener and a fast learner. He hasn’t been around kids a lot. He’s great on walks unless theres another dog, he tries to run up to them. He hasn’t attacked another dog but when he barks he sounds a bit scary. He’s very sweet and loves giving kisses and loves attention. He loves sleeping with you waking you up with kisses. He loves the beach and running around. He loves playing with other dogs once he’s introduced, you just gotta do it slowly. He’s also very good with cats though he does try to play with them. He loves being around people and loves social gatherings. He is not shy at all. He knows some tricks such as sit and stay. He listens to his name and when you tell him to come.He is nurtured and has his vaccinations. He loves being outside and enjoying the sun. He isn’t scared of thunder or fireworks. He’s a very good boy and would love a loving family with a big yard. He’s about 40 pounds, he has long hair along his back, neck and ears but short everywhere else.He was abused in his past homes and neglected. He was always left in his kennel so he does get anxious about being in one.He doesn’t beg for your food and he sits and stays until you tell him he’s a good boy before he start’s eating. For more information about Pluto contact Jillian @ (906)204-4553 or email @ jill.blu04@gmail.com

Story
* LIZZIE IS NOT AT UPAWS *Lizzie Lou is a sweet girl that loves to give kisses and “hugs”. She does well at our family camp off lead and loves to run with her other doggo friends. Her favorite toys are power chewer toys and loves turkey slices and string cheese! She can swim but prefers to just wade and lick up the water. She prefers to be the only dog around in her own home. Our old man dog is having a hard time keeping up with her desire to play. Cats are things to chase for Lizzie Lou so most likely a home with no cats or cats that don’t care Lizzie is around. Little kids might get knocked down from all her love she gives.Lizzie has been recently spayed and is up to date or her shots. We take Lizzie on daily walks to help with getting the zoomies out. If she has a toy to chew on, she’s the happiest girl around. Sometimes she’s possessive of those toys and her food. We’ve worked with her as best as we can but sometimes she will let out a growl if you try and take away a toy. We redirect with a treat and then can take away the toy.She is a sweet girl that just needs a different environment to blossom which I know with the right family, she will.If interested please contact Chelsea at 906-202-9792 or chelsea.prunick@icloud.com!

Story
Meet Artimis, the sweet and sensitive pup looking for a loving forever home. This gorgeous girl may be timid at first, but once she warms up to you, her tail won`t stop wagging. Artimis is a 1-year-old beauty with a heart of gold.Artimis has shown her sensitivity towards touch, as she freezes when her previous owner touched her face. But with gentle and patient handling, she slowly relaxed and even maintained eye contact. She may need some extra time and understanding when it comes to being touched, but once she trusts you, she`ll love all the cuddles and scratches you can give. This playful pup is also a fan of tag and enjoys running around with her friend Lealand. However, she does get a bit nervous when Lealand pats her rear end. With some reassurance and positive reinforcement, Artemis will learn to trust and feel safe with her humans.Though she may be hesitant with toys, Artimis has a big appetite and will immediately start eating when food is given to her. She may keep an eye on the food bowl, but she never leaves it until she`s finished every bite. She may also enjoy a good rawhide every now and then, but be aware that sudden movements or loud noises may startle her. When it comes to other dogs, Artimis may be a bit cautious, but with slow introductions, she can become friendly and curious. She may need some time to adjust and feel comfortable, but once she does, she`ll be a great companion to any furry friend.Artimis would do best in a calm and understanding home with patient owners who can help her build her confidence and trust. With some love, patience, and time, this sensitive sweetheart will bloom into the most loving and loyal companion. Come meet Artimis today and see for yourself the love and loyalty she has to offer!Staff believe I would be ok to live with:Respectful kids, bring to meetRespectful dogs, bring to meet No cats
