Story
Meet Comet! Here is a bit about him, in his own words… or woofs… -I LOVE toys but not small ones, bones to chew and I get the zoomies all the time. -I’m very loving, I’m learning how to cuddle and love to lay on the couch with a bone. -I think I would like a doggy friend but also could be happy as an only dog. -I’ve been neutered and got a clean bill of health from the vet as well. -I would love someone who would work with me on learning better leash skills and manners training. Comet was a shelter pull at risk of euthanasia due to space and the time he had been there. We were able to get him full vaccinated, neutered, and even allergy tested. He’s been doing great on the specific allergy friendly food he is on. We are thankful we could give him the chance at a forever life by bringing him to our rescue and helping him on his journey to finding a family! If Comet sounds like he could be a match, please fill out an application on our website.

Story
Meet Reba! This sweet girl was unfortunately dealt a tough start to life where she was chained in the backyard and neglected to a point where her collar had to be surgically removed from her neck. The sweet lady has made incredible strides in her life since then and we know the right family will leave all her bad memories in the past and fill up her future with only love. We’ve made up a list for what this special girl would like in a forever home: -An active home with lots of walks and time to play ball. -I am crate trained but it’s not my favorite place so I would love to sleep in bed and cuddle on the couch with you. -Older kids would be best since I can be a little hyper I might knock a little one down. -She is open to having a doggy sibling but no cats If interested in applying for Reba, please fill out an application on our website. She can’t wait to meet you!

Allen Park, MI
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less

Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Oh, Nyx....where do I begin. This girl is a special one! She came to us when our vet asked us to take in a special needs puppy. Nyx was born with hydrocephalus and the breeder didn't want her so she surrendered Nyx to our vet. Her hydrocephalus doesn't affect her health in any way now but we believe it has affected her personality. Nyx is a very special girl who will need a VERY special adopter. One who is patient and calm and willing to accept Nyx for who she is! Nyx wants affection on her terms but will run from you if you try to pick her up. You have to go low and slow so she won't run from you. Nyx will HAVE to have a fenced in yard for that very reason - if she got out you probably wouldn't get her to come back to you. Nyx likes other dogs but doesn't really know how to play with them and can mean to them when she's just trying to get them to play. We think all of her quirks are a direct result of her hydrocephalus. She can be so loving, but she is definitely a quirky one! Nyx will do best with older children or a quiet household. If you are the unicorn adopter we are looking for - who is willing to accept Nyx for who she is - please fill out our application at www.goofyfootrescue.org Nyx is in foster care in West TN and will be transported once her adoption is finalized.

Story
Is this dog good with kids? It's crucial that children are taught to respect dogs and understand a dog's body language. Is this dog house trained? Expect to house train a newly adopted dog. Some dogs will pick it up faster than others. Successful house training largely depends on patience and consistent encouragement. Most of the dogs that end up in shelters are mixed breeds that can have 2 to 10 different breeds in their DNA. The breed listed is only the best guess of the shelter volunteers. If interested in meeting any of our cats or dogs, stop in to meet them during our open hours. For location and hours, see our website at https://wacshelter.com To apply to adopt online go to https://wacshelter.com/adopt-a-dog/ ALL ANIMALS LISTED AS ADOPTABLE ARE AVAILABLE TO BE ADOPTED. *ADOPTION FEE: $95 (cash only) includes spay/neuter, distemper vaccine, heartworm test, and rabies vaccine.
