Story
Meet Harley! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Before coming to GLDR, Harley spent some time in a home so we have lots of great info to share with you! Harley is both crate-trained and house-trained! She also knows tons of commands! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley is admittedly a little overweight, so her new family will need to commit to daily exercise and a healthy diet to ensure she is living her best life. She loves going for walks and will require a harness lead to help keep her focused and safe. Harley needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. Harley does well in the car and would make an excellent copilot. At the end of the day, Harley is content to sleep quietly through the night in her crate. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for Harley.

Meet Keira! ABSOLUTELY ADORES KIDS!! LOVES OTHER DOGS TOO! SHE WILL MAKE THE BEST FAMILY PUP! This adorable seven-month-old mixed breed beauty has the most darling personality and a smile that can't be beat! She's 40 pounds of pure puppy love! Keira is living it up in a fabulous foster home and they absolutely adore her! Not only does she get along wonderfully with their dog, she adores their kids (ages 3 & 5) and is great with them! She loves snuggling with them anytime she can. Just look at those pics!!! As if that weren't impressive enough, she's house-trained and crate-trained! She's a fan of all sorts of toys and treats, though whipped cream straight of out the can is her favorite (see picture). Keira is amazing with sharing her toys with her fur sibling and there are no issues with taking toys or food away from her. She really has the most wonderful way about her! Keira is eager to learn and is already mastering her basic commands. She is good in the car (though may need some encouragement to get in) and also does well on her leash. Her favorite pastime is finding a snuggly lap or some blankets to cozy up with. She adores her foster family and is thankful for every moment she has with them. At the end of the day, Keira sleeps quietly through the night in her crate (with warm blankets of course). As Keira is still a young lady, she will benefit from continued training, a nice yard, and daily exercise in her new home. She is a very social gal who will provide years of happy memories for one lucky family! Based on our evaluation, we feel Keira would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids of all ages. We feel she has the potential to live in a home with other animals as she loves her foster fur sibling. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! If you think Keira is as amazing as we do, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for this darling girl!

Story
Meet Piper! This delightful mixed-breed brindled beauty is five years old and weighs in at 44 pounds. She is ready to say so long to the kennel and find the home she's been longing for! When we first met Piper, we learned pretty quickly that she has mastered the art of puppy eyes! Just one look and she'll have you wrapped around her paw! Being around other pups has helped her adjust at the kennel, and she lives to cruise the yard with her fellow canine companions. While not a requirement, we think Piper would make an excellent pal for your family pup! Not just a pretty face, Piper knows a few commands including "sit" and "paw". Though she doesn't seem too food-motivated now, that may change once she's happily adjusted in her new home. When she does enjoy treats, she always takes them gently. Piper will benefit from continued training and daily exercise in her new home. A yard for her to enjoy is a must for this cutie pie. After her time in the yard, Piper doesn't hesitate to let you know when she wants some attention. Based on our evaluation, we feel Piper could do well in a home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. She could be an ideal addition to your current pack as she finds comfort being around other dogs. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! Please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com or contact GLDR today to inquire more about our precious Piper!

Story
Meet Beck! Hubba hubba here he comes! Beck is a one-year-old lab/plott hound mix who's 60 pounds of pure love! Beck is hands down one of the most affectionate pups you'll ever meet. He is very timid around new people, but once you've earned his trust, he makes no secret his goal in life is to be close! He actively seeks affection and gives the best hugs in town. His new family will need to be very patient and encouraging with him. We promise you he's worth the wait. Once you're in, you're in for life! As he is still a young man, Beck will benefit from continued training as he grows. His new family will need to keep him active and engaged and a fenced-in yard for him to enjoy is a must for his handsome boy! Training with Beck will be an excellent way to form a lifelong bond with this fabulous boy! Some of our volunteers took Beck on an outing and absolutely raved about him. He's good on a leash, though he does stop often to ask for hugs. Beck does excellent with other dogs and wasn't bothered by passing bikes. He also enjoys the water! After a nice three mile walk, they ended their outing with a delicious ice cream which Beck was more than happy to gobble up. Check out his pics! Based on our evaluation, we feel Beck would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He enjoys hanging with other dogs and we feel he would be a great buddy for another pup. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Don't spend another day without this lovey-dovey boy! Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our bubbly Beck!

Story
Meet Henson! This one-year-old Aussie mix is 45 pounds of handsome heart-throb! His charismatic energy will captivate you from the start! Aussie's love an active lifestyle and Henson is no exception. He lives for his time in the yard and his new family must be committed to providing daily exercise and mental and stimulation! Ya Henson will benefit from continued training to help mold him into the best boy he can be! Two fabulous volunteers recently whisked Henson away from kennel life for a fun-filled adventure! During the car ride, he had a brief moment of "I want to be co-pilot! but once he burned off some of that zest, he settled down nicely. They strolled through the gorgeous Metamora State Park on a 3-mile jaunt. At first, Henson was a bundle of joy and energy on the leash, but he soon figured it out-though he couldn't resist stopping to leap up and shower everyone with hugs! Such a LOVER boy who absolutely loves belly rubs! He met a few folks along the way and was a bit shy, but overall did really well. They saw a ton of dogs, big and small, and he did wonderful. All in all, Henson showed off his charming personality and boundless potential! This smart pup is ready for action-he just needs a family to believe in him! If you're looking for a pal to accompany you on all of your adventures, Henson could be the pup you've been searching for! He'll no doubt provide years of laughs and love for a very lucky family! Based on our evaluation, we feel Henson would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the potential to live in a home with other dogs. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com or contact GLDR today to inquire more about this intelligent guy!
