Story
Meet Harley! LONG-TERM KENNEL RESIDENT WHO NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!!! LOVES ALL PEOPLE & KIDS! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Though she did have a brief straycation in November, Harley is currently back at the kennel and is highly stressed! She needs an experienced foster to give her the break she deserves while we search for her forever family! Always out to impress, she is both crate-trained and house-trained! A bright and eager learner, Harley is ready to show off her skills! She knows commands like sit, down, shake, and off! With the help of high-value treats, she's ready to learn even more! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley enjoys going for walks and does best when harnessed. Up for exploring? She rides well in the car and is ready to join you on all of your adventures! At the end of a fun-filled day, Harley is perfectly content to spend her day lounging inside with her people. She enjoys snuggling in with cozy blankets on her favorite spot on the couch. She sleeps quietly through the night, grateful for foster family and hopeful her forever family will soon come her way. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She has lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. She needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application today!

Story
Meet Beck! LONGEST KENNEL RESIDENT! NEEDS A FOSTER DESPERATELY! Hubba hubba here he comes! Beck is a one-year-old lab/plott hound mix who's 60 pounds of pure love! Beck is hands down one of the most affectionate pups you'll ever meet. He is very timid around new people, but once you've earned his trust, he makes no secret his goal in life is to be close! Sadly, it's obvious to us that Beck has been hurt by men in his past. He is understandably fearful of them and we feel he'd do best in a female only home with a family who is patient and encouraging. We promise you he's worth the wait. Once you're in, you're in for life! Beck had a few days away with one of our volunteers and he loved every second of it! It took him all of five minutes to find the toy bin and he helped himself to every single toy in there. Tough toys are best our playful pup and he is always up for a game of fetch! They were able to take toys/food away with no issue. He enjoys a relaxing neck rub and will roll over for some belly rubs too! Beck has done well being crated for a few hours at a time and with more repetition, we think that will continue. This lovable pup appears to be house-trained as well. Beck does well with other dogs and has a vocal playstyle. If you're looking for a pal for your family fur baby, Beck could be your boy! Excited to follow his nose and explore new surroundings, Beck does well on leash. As he is still a young man, he will benefit from continued training as he grows. His new family will need to keep him active and engaged and a yard for him to enjoy is a must for his handsome boy! Training will be an excellent way to form a lifelong bond. Though he does need some work on his manners, Beck responds very well to correction. When it comes time to eat, Beck takes his treats gently and Nudges are one of his favorites! He gets his evening zoomies and then is ready to relax for the night. Once settled, he sleeps quietly through the night. When it comes time to travel, Beck does well in the car and loves to take in the scenery on your trip. Based on our evaluation, we feel Beck would do well in an active home with adult women. He enjoys hanging with other dogs and we feel he would be a great buddy for another pup. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Don't spend another day without this lovey-dovey boy! Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our bubbly Beck!

Story
Hey everyone! Lily here from GLDR! I'm a two-year-old, 45-pound, Aussie mix who is ready to zoomie my way into your life! After sitting in the kennel since October without a single application, my fabulous foster mom brought me home to her place to hang out while I wait for my forever family to come my way. She says I'm the best houseguest and I am so thankful for the break she's given me. I'm happy to report I'm both house-trained and crate-trained! I spend my days enjoying my favorite stuffy toys and daily walks. I'd love to have a yard of my own at my new home where I can sprint the day away! A fenced-in yard would be preferred, though a tie out could work as long as I get my daily exercise. When it comes to food, I'm always up for a meaty treat and like to hide them around the house to enjoy whenever I please! I've been told I'm a very smart pup and I love food puzzles and lots of enrichment. I know my basic commands and am capable of learning more. Keeping me exercised and engaged is the best way to keep me happy! I'd do best with an experienced handler and someone who loves being outside exploring as much as I do. My foster mom says I have great recall. Up for a road trip? I do well in the car and look forward to all the places we could go together! At the end of a fun-filled day, I love to snuggle up on the couch with my foster mom. I prefer to lay my head in your lap and will gently paw you to let you know to keep those pets coming! I sleep quietly through the night in my crate and I've been old I have the cutest little snore! What type of home am I looking for? Glad you asked! I'd love an active home with adults or older children. If you have kids, they should be ages 12 and up and be respectful when I'd like my space. Though I have lived with other dogs before, I'm selective with my furry friends so a meet and greet would be best. If I'm being honest, I think I'd prefer to be the only pup in the house to soak up all the love on my own. If I sound like your kind of gal, please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com today! See you soon!

Meet Heather! Hey everyone! Heather here from GLDR! I'm a six-year-old, 40-pound, Boston/terrier mix who is ready to brighten your day with my winning grin and wiggly wags. I am very thankful to be living with my foster mom, dad, and their two kids (ages 3 and 5). As if that wasn't cool enough, they also have a dog who I love to play with. I've even hung out with other family pups and have done very well. If you're looking for an affectionate fur sibling for your family dog, I'm game for a meet and greet anytime! I'm happy to report I'm both house-trained and crate-trained!! I absolutely adore my foster family and will soak up every ounce of love you have to give! I'd definitely consider myself a lap dog! You can usually find me snuggled up with my people, surrounded by as many cozy blankets as I can get my paws on! My foster family is working with me to learn new commands and I already know "sit, stay and wait". I'm not really one for too many toys as I prefer to spend my time cuddling. When it comes time for treats, I like soft treats and will enjoy the occasional ice cube. While I do like exploring the yard, I'd much prefer to be warm and cozy inside. If we do head out in the cold, I always wear my coats and sweaters to help keep me warm. What type of home am I looking for? Glad you asked! I'm a pup who enjoys life's simple pleasures and just wants to be part of your day. Everyone says I can go to a home with kids of any age as I have great manners. I love everyone I meet and am looking for a family that wants a snuggle buddy to treasure. They think I'd love to live with a fellow fur sibling too, though it's not a requirement. No feline friends please, as I tend to chase them! If I sound like your kind of gal, please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com today! See you soon!

Meet Skipper! THRIVING IN FOSTER! LOVES DOGS AND EVERY PERSON HE MEETS! This two-year-old, 60-pound happy-go-lucky hound mix has so much to offer and can't wait for you to welcome him home! After struggling in the kennel environment, Skipper is currently loving life in his foster home where his mom just raves about him! In addition to being house-trained and crate-trained, Skipper loves other pups and kids! He enjoys playing with his fur sister and they have the best time together! While he does tend to chase cats, his previous fosters felt like he could live in a home with a dog-savvy feline. A pup who enjoys being out and about, Skipper is always up for some playtime in the yard! He is very food-motivated which will be an excellent tool when training him. He knows sit, has excellent eye contact, and takes his treats gently. Skipper has yet to find a toy he doesn't like. His foster mom is able to take food/toys away with no problem. He's just an all-around playful pup who is eager to be part of your family! Not only is he very endearing, he behaves well in the car, and loves meeting all sorts of new friends. He also walks nicely on a leash! He really is quite the catch! Skipper will benefit from continued training and daily exercise in his new home. A large yard for him to run in is a must for this spirited pup. If you're looking for a pal to accompany you on all of your adventures, don't wait another moment to come meet Skipper! Based on our evaluation, we feel Skipper would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. We feel he has the ability to live with other animals of a similar energy level. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Think Skipper could be the pup for you? Story
Hey! My name is Bota McBooty-Shaker! I’m a six-year-old, 15-pound chihuahua/rat terrier mix and I’m looking for the love of my life! I’ve traveled far and wide searching for my soulmate. After arriving at GLDR, I was lucky enough to enjoy a nice straycation. Now I know exactly what I’m looking for in a family! House-trained and crate-trained, I’ve been told I’m an excellent house guest. I love to spend my days chilling on the couch and cruising the neighborhood for walks. I’m a rockstar on my leash and do great meeting dogs in social situations. However, when it comes to our home, I prefer to be king of the castle! When it comes to food, I can barely contain my excitement! You’ll often see me doing a few spins in anticipation of a tasty treat or meal. I know how to sit and stay and will always do what I can to make you proud! I have no issue with stairs and love to explore everywhere we go! In case you work at home, I make an excellent coworker. I’m happy to sit quietly on your lap while you work. I offer great support and will always listen when you need to vent about your job! I consider myself to be an honorable man and I’m looking for a true partner. I promise to make you my whole world and be your hero who will protect you all the days of my life. At the end of a relaxing day, I like to unwind with a nice snuggle session with my person. I love to lean in and lay on your chest and will share the most tender kisses with you! Then it’s off to bed where I sleep quietly through the night. My dream home would be an calm, predictable one where I can be the star of the show. I prefer to live with a single adult who appreciate me for the man I am. And as an added bonus I can shake my booty with the best of them! If you think I could be the pup of your dreams, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application! Hope to see you soon!
