Story
Riley is a young dog. Only 13 months, has grown up in the Marines with her owner her entire life. Due to injury her Marine is now home with family, with another dog, multiple cats and a very busy lifestyle. Riley needs someone that can be active with her. She does well in pack environments at doggy, daycares. However, possibly due to her energy level, that's focused on just one dog, it is a very unpredictable relationship with the home dog. Riley does not show aggression towards the 2 kittens, or 2 adult cats in home, but she will not leave them alone. She follows them everywhere and cries if she can't reach them. When they do a decide to lay with her, she will sniff them and push them around with her snout, until they finally leave because the best word to describe it is, she's very annoying. She loves and is very accepting/submissive with all humans. Well behaved and loves to please, unfortunately the current environment is unhealthy for both dogs with some fights.

Story
We adopted Bumpy from a private owner last spring. He was very undisciplined when we got him and that has improved significantly. Unfortunately he has become too aggressive towards our elderly dogs and we must rehome him. He loves people especially kids and wants to play with other dogs but is too aggressive. He is definitely a beagle in a pug suit, so someone who is familiar with that breed is a preferred adopter. He can’t be around cats or small animals due to his beagle prey drive. He is housebroken and crates very well, he has food allergies so must be on a strict salmon & sweet potato diet but a very good food is available at pets supplies plus. He is a very charming and loving dog and it breaks my heart to rehome him, but I have to think about what is best for everyone in our pack.

Story
Gender: Female Age: # 1/2 Breed/Color: Lab / Black Location: Gregory, MI Pet ID: 2024_12 Adoption Fee: $350 Princess aka Prissy is one heck of an amazing dog!! She is a lab/hound mix. She has not seen a lot of new things, so she can be shy at first ... ohhhh but don't let that fool you!. She is used to and LOVES cats. Dogs are new to her, but man oh man she can play with them or leave them because she can play by herself!. She is a bit on the chunky side, so clearly she is food motivated in life. She does not know very many commands, but she is not unruly or ill mannered. Princess is the perfect dog for ANY home! Kids? Great! Cats? Great! None of that? GREAT! To adopt an animal from our sanctuary, the first step is to submit an application. *Please note we adopt within the state of MICHIGAN ONLY* The process takes a few weeks. It involves vet and personal reference checks and interview of applicant. There are no exceptions … Please remember that we are all volunteers and it may take a week or so after we receive your application to be contacted. Sometimes several people may be interested in the same pet, so please remember that not every animal is right for every home. To ensure a healthy and happy placement for our pets and their new families, we take the time to evaluate each animal’s temperament and try to match the right animal to the right family. OUR ADOPTION GUIDELINES All fees are subject to change without notice. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee the animal will be adopted to you. We do not work on a first come first serve basis. We collect applications and make our best determination on where we think the animal would thrive the best. We have the right to deny any applicant without explanation, and the decision is final. Very rarely do we get written documentation of an animal’s age and breed. We do not guarantee these, we work with professionals to help make the best determination. All of our foster homes follow a 30 Day Stay policy and do not make ANY exceptions. This policy requires every animal who comes into foster care, to stay in foster care for a minimum of 30 day before going to their forever home. Bert needs your help! He is looking for SPONSORS!! Bert is a sanctuary dog and he will spend the rest of his days on the farm in wonderful care. A sanctuary animal, is one that is deemed unadoptable for whatever reason (behavioral or medical) and it is not a situation where euthanasia is the best choice. But animals like Bert take a lot of love and needed support! If you would be interested in donating, please click here: https://gofund.me/601c3f00 If you would be interested in sponsoring him on a regular basis, email us at oakwoodmeadowssanctuary@gmail.com

Story
Gender: Male Age: 8 weeks Breed/Color: Cattle Dog / Bernese Mountain Dog Location: SE Michigan Pet ID: 2024_15, 16 Adoption Fee: $500 (+ $100 Neuter Deposit) Meet Hank and Tom! These two sweet boys are looking for a very specific home. THEY WILL NOT BE RE HOMED TOGETHER! THEY WILL GO ONLY TO A HOME WITH DOG EXPERIENCE. The reason being is that these were an oops breeding of two very powerful breeds. Tom (black ears and patches) is very much like his mama Cattle Dog. Independent and smart! Hank is like his daddy Bernese. Very large, loyal and confident. These dogs are too young to finish all of their shots and to be neutered. They will be going with a refundable deposit for the adopter to do at their expense. To adopt an animal from our sanctuary, the first step is to submit an application. *Please note we adopt within the state of MICHIGAN ONLY* The process takes a few weeks.
