Story
STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Chowder — Ready for His Fresh Start! Say hello to Chowder! Like his buddy Stew, he came from a home where life was… well, far from what any dog deserves. The conditions were rough, love was limited, and stability was nonexistent. Thankfully, Chowder is now safe, cared for, and finally learning what it feels like to live like a cherished family member. Chowder wasn’t as thin as Stew, but he still came from the same situation — and he’s soaking up every bit of kindness, comfort, and routine like it’s all brand new (because it is). He’s a sweet, gentle boy who loves being with his people, enjoys his toys, and is discovering that soft beds and regular meals are pretty amazing. His personality is blossoming more every day! Chowder would do great with a family who enjoys activity, playtime, and being involved with their dog. He is learning the good life quickly and is so ready for a forever home that will treat him with the love and dignity he always deserved. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and an even bigger desire to make you smile, Chowder may be your perfect match. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Apply to meet him today — his new beginning starts with you! All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter! STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Stew — Your Future King of Cuddles! Hi there! My name is Stew, and I’m a 2-year-old American Bully who has traded a life of squalor for one of soft beds, full bellies, and being treated like the royalty I truly am. When my foster mom first got me, I was very underweight… but don’t worry, I’m filling out beautifully and feeling better every day! Despite my rough start, I am incredibly sweet and just want to be loved. I adore my toys, enjoy being near my people, and would thrive with an active family who likes walks, playtime, and maybe even some adventures. Food was scarce in my past, so mealtime is basically my favorite thing ever—but I don’t resource guard, and I’m learning to take treats gently like a perfect little gentleman. I haven’t lived with other dogs or cats in my foster home, so my compatibility is still unknown, but I’m not overly reactive when I see other dogs out and about, like at the vet. With proper intros, I may do just fine! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, wiggly, toy-loving guy who is ready to be spoiled for the rest of his life, then look no further. Stew is ready for his forever throne. Apply to meet me today — I can’t wait to love you! All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Cream Soda — the One-Eared Wonder! Every superhero has an origin story… and Cream Soda’s is one of courage, resilience, and the happiest tail wags you’ve ever seen. This brave girl survived a dog fight that left her completely missing one ear — but instead of letting it break her, she decided to level up. Now she struts around like the adorable little warrior princess she is, spreading joy everywhere she goes. Cream Soda is: &#226&#156&#168 Sweet enough to live up to her name &#226&#156&#168 Wiggly enough to power a small city &#226&#156&#168 Friendly with absolutely everyone she meets &#226&#156&#168 NOT reactive to other dogs &#226&#156&#168 Proof that heroes come in all shapes — even one-eared ones Despite her past, she has ZERO hard feelings. She’s all about love, cuddles, and meeting new people. She’s basically a real-life reminder that you can go through something terrible and still shine bright. Now she’s searching for her next chapter — a forever family who will celebrate her, spoil her, and let her be the brave little hero she was born to be. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Think you’re ready to team up with the One-Eared Wonder? Story
STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Gnocchi – The Underdog Who’s Been Waiting 5 Years for His Someone Five years ago, Gnocchi’s life was saved just in time—he was hours away from being euthanized at a high-kill shelter. Scared and unsure, he came into our care... and somehow, he’s still here. Not a single application. Not even a question. It’s like the world forgot about him. His foster mom loves him more than anything, but wants more for him. Now around 8 years old, Gnocchi isn’t flashy. He’s not the life of the party. He’s more of a homebody with an old soul—content with a quiet routine, a soft place to land, and the occasional belly rub. He’s not clingy, but he does enjoy affection in his own time. He knows basic commands like sit, shake, and down, and he’s fully house-trained. He’s also respectful—doesn’t chew things he shouldn’t and doesn’t try to escape a fenced yard. Gnocchi would thrive in a calm, adult-only home—maybe with a bachelor or a couple who understands the value of a quiet companion. He’s dog-friendly but isn’t looking to make a ton of friends. He walks okay on a leash, but he’s a strong boy at 80lbs, so he’ll need someone who can handle his size. He doesn’t mind storms or loud noises. He doesn’t need constant attention. He’s okay if you work long hours. He really doesn’t ask for much—just food, love, and a few gentle pets. Gnocchi is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and has no known medical concerns. He’s just... overlooked. Forgotten. One in a literal million. Waiting for someone to notice the quiet gem he is. We know his perfect person is out there. It may feel like a needle in a haystack, but Gnocchi deserves to be someone’s one and only. Could it be you? All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped.
