Story
Sugar Bear is a sweet 6-7 year old mixed breed dog (we don't know any of her breeds!). Since she has tall ears, we are thinking possibly Cattle Dog mix? She weighs around 35 lbs so she is the perfect medium size dog - not too big and not too small! Sugar Bear's family was evicted from their home and they put poor Sugar Bear out on the streets. Luckily, a neighbor witnessed this and contacted the local animal shelter. Sugar Bear is now searching for her forever home. Sugar can be a little shy when she meets a new person but once they pet her, she warms up very quickly! Since she can be a little shy, we would recommend a quieter home and one without small children. Sugar enjoys car rides, cuddling and always being with her person, going for walks and naps! Her favorite hobby is chasing squirrels so for that reason, she may not be good with cats or very small animals. She is in a foster home with another dog and does fine with her. She is a very smart girl and listens very well when you call her name. She would make a great agility dog! If interested in Sugar Bear, please email slarl@yahoo.com with any questions.

Story
Rhea is a beautiful girl looking for a foster or furever home. She was born around March 2022. She is e-collar and crate trained, and she loves to play. She came from a background of neglect, abuse and health issues; but has overcome all of it with proper care, socialization and training. She still needs patience because she is fearful of new people without slow introductions, but once she knows you- she worships you and loves on you so hard. She just needs to establish trust and a safe boundary first. Rhea would do best as a solo pet for now because she is still learning. Rhea's preferred adopter will be someone who can provide consistent structure, open to families with older children (14+) as she is strong and still learning. She is a healthy gal who is spayed, up to date on all her vaccines, and microchipped. Her foster is gifting all her gear to her furever home: crate, blankets, a cot, ecollar and remote, slow feeding bowl, harness and collar. If you are interested in meeting Rhea, please send a message here or email adopt@ahsem.org Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. Story
Meet Champ!!! Champ came to us when he was found as a stray and ended up at an overcrowded shelter in Detroit. He was absolutely petrified in the shelter, so his HERO stepped up to foster him and the rest is history! We estimate Champ to be between 2-3 years old. He currently weighs between 55-60 lbs. Champ is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is currently residing with 3 other dogs and 5 cats. He LOVES them all and would love a furry sibling to play to with! This boy wants nothing more than love and toys...and food. Champ is eager to learn and being food motivated we think this smart boy will master all doggie manners in no time. He enjoys running around with foster siblings and playing with his toys, but when it is calm time, he is all about the snuggles and kisses! When his foster family leaves him home alone, they leave him loose in a room and he is completely non destructive. Champ is looking for a home that will give him ample attention and an outlet for his energy. He is a quirky boy with so much spunk and potential, he just needs his perfect family to give him the chance. *Approx. 2-3 years old *55-60 lbs of HUNK *Neutered, UTD on vaccines and chipped *Cat and Dog Friendly (Has not met small children yet, but we don't expect any issues) If you are interested in meeting this ham, complete an application TODAY!!!! Story
Meet Sheba! This sweet girl is approximately 8-10 years young and is believed to be a Doberman / Super-mutt mix?! She’s about 70 lbs. but could definitely stand to lose a few lbs. Sheba was the longest resident at St Clair County Animal Control, after being surrendered by her owner in September because they were moving and couldn’t take her with them. She was a shelter favorite to all the volunteers and would hold her potty 14-16 hours at a time to not have an accident in her cage! She’s a very clean and classy girl and still very much potty trained in her foster home. She loves soft blankets, being cozy in her pig jammies, cuddling, and playing with toys. For being a large dog you’d never know how old she is because she can keep up with her younger foster 🐶 siblings like you’d never believe! Sheba has “happy feet” and prances when she’s excited and it’s quite possibly the cutest thing ever 😍 She is crate trained but we believe after proper decompression she won’t even need to be crated when left alone. She is dog friendly with slow and proper introductions but does seem to do best with other slower speed/ calmer dogs as she can be a bit of a sassy granny to the youngins ;) Sheebs walks well on the leash for the most part and is a gentle and sweet girl. Sheba would make a great companion for an active senior or for anyone who has room in their home/ heart for a chunky old lady ❤️ Want to give Sheba a retirement home for her golden years? 🙏🏻 *8-10 years young *70 lbs. of cuteness *Potty and Crate Trained *Dog friendly (Cats unknown) *UTD on vaccines and spayed Application: https://peaceloveandpawsrescue.com/adopt%2Ffoster-application

Story
Meet Leo – A Loyal Heart Looking for His Furever Home! Leo is a 2.5-year-old Cockapoo with a sweet soul and a whole lot of love to give. Weighing in at around 21 lbs., this little guy is the perfect mix of cuddly lap dog and playful companion. His favorite things in life? Cozy naps, belly rubs, and chasing after a tennis ball like it’s his job! Leo is housetrained, microchipped, up-to-date on all his shots, and neutered. Leo can be shy and apprehensive around new people, so he’s looking for a patient, understanding family. Once he trusts you, he’s an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion who will never leave your side. Leo would thrive in a quiet, adult-ONLY home. While Leo is full of love, he finds kids a bit too unpredictable and make him nervous. Leo does great when be boarded and groomed. He also enjoys doggie day care in the small dog play groups. So if you are looking to add this handsome guy to your family, APPLY TODAY!!! *2.5 years old *21 lbs. of cuteness *Neutered, UTD on vaccines and chipped *Dog Friendly and Cats Unknown *Looking for an adult only home *Does great at doggie day care and being groomed *Potty and Crate Trained *Loves playing ball!
