Story
Herman is a 20lb pup who is in need of a forever home. We believe him to be a Shih Tzu mix around 1-2 years old. He’s a man with insecurities and can be fear-reactive, unfortunately that led him to be returned to us due to previous owners not understanding how to help guide him. However, with desensitization and counter-conditioning in his foster home paired with an anti-anxiety medication, Herman is learning how to safely navigate the world and is ready for a permanent home to thrive! Herman stats - 🐸Herman is very insecure. Understandable for a little boy who has had a inconsistent life! He needs a supportive, understanding owner who can help him explore new things. He’s been doing well in his foster home using fear-free desensitization and counter-conditioning to introduce him to the world around him. 🐸His favorite pastimes include playing with stuffed toys, eating & following his foster mom around. He enjoys keeping a regular routine and will often remind you when it’s meal time, walk time, or time for his bedtime treat! 🐸Herman sees his caregiver as his sun & moon- he's incredibly affectionate and loving to his person, it's very sweet and hard to resist his sweet face! He's a bit of a velcro-dog and will follow you everywhere. 🐸Herman is very sensitive to handling and is touchy about his boundaries. His new owner needs to seek a fear-free groomer and vet who are willing to work with him, without over-stressing him. He is currently on an anti-anxiety medication, which we recommend his new owner keeping up on. 🐸Herman is enthusiastic, playful & quite food motivated. This means he’s incredibly trainable! He already knows sit, down, dance, and roll over. 🐸Herman does enjoy the company of other dogs, however, he’s like a sponge and soaks up all the traits of the pups around him regularly. A calmer dog around his size would be best for him. 🐸No kids or cats. 🐸Shih Tzu’s are known for their loveable, quirky personalities, but can also be stubborn, demanding & unwilling to cooperate at times. If you love the Shih traits you will love Herman! ***Interested in ADOPTING??*** Fill out an application by emailing us for an app or using the template on our website- 🍄 Canineliberationleague@gmail.com 🍄 www.Canineliberationleague.com Herman is neutered, microchipped and is current on all vaccines including Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella. He has also been heartworm & fecal tested. LOCATION - South Lyon, MI PLEASE SHARE to help HERMAN!

Story
Enzo came to us a puppy last summer. He has been around kids the entire time and is very good with them! He is very energetic and playful and loves to be outside with his humans! He has been our only house pet for the entirety of his stay with us, but is never phased or bothered by the wildlife on our property (deer, turkey, rabbits, lots of birds, etc). He LOVES the water and has frequently been out to the lake on our boat. **His next owner should know thar he loves to chew! He needs lots of bones and toys or he will find substitutes!

Story
Sadly, I need help rehoming my 9 year old male blue heeler, Tucker. I took him in 1.5 years ago when my grandma passed away, as he was her dog. He is a very sweet boy, but he has his quirks and unfortunately we have recently had to keep him in a fenced pen and it isn't the life he deserves. We live on a hobby farm and he has been killing the chickens and cats because he thinks they are pests. He also does bark a lot. But he does get along very well with our female lab. I'm not sure if he would do well with small dogs. He is house trained. My grandma had a fenced back yard along with a doggy door and he came and went as he pleased. He also does have a large lipoma on his side. The vet has looked at it, and said it's nothing to worry about unless it starts to bother him.

Story
First - the adoption fee will be sent to the Michigan Humane Society to help with all the animals they rescue. I have had this sweet, kiss giving girl for several months now. I got her thru a friend of a friend when her one and only owner passed and the owner's family could not keep the dog. They thought she was about 8 or 9 years old. She was raised with an invisible fencing system. I do not have one. I do not have a fenced in yard. I take her on walks during the day. I am a Senior citizen and I am not steady on my feet and I have poor balance. She has pulled me down once and I am afraid of it happening again. She is so sweet and loves to sit next to you and cuddle. She does not realize her strength. She would do great with a house full of kids or a Senior with a fenced yard. She should be in a cat free household. She loves to play fetch and actually brings the ball back & gives it to you! Please help me find a good home for this sweet girl

Story
To apply to adopt, complete an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ATHM/Dog Nova was born on Black Friday of 2024! She sleeps good in a crate. Only whined a little bit for a few minutes. Did not go potty in it at all. Has only had one accident in the house! She goes potty outside every time we take her and is super sweet. ??! She is good with dogs, kids, and cats. Due to the overwhelming number of inquiries and messages, we do not have the ability to respond to each and every one of them. If you are interested in a puppy/dog, please apply to adopt All dogs are vaccinated age appropriately, spayed/neutered, on flea tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and microchipped. We do not require a fenced yard (excluding case specific dogs). However you must have a plan to keep your dog safe and contained which can include an electric fence. We require all dogs be kept on heartworm prevention year round for their entire lives after being adopted. We do not allow force training (prong, shock, choke, or pinch collars etc).

Story
Make sure you let us know you saw Athena on Adopt-a-pet. Talk about perfect, it doesn't get any easier. Athena's housetrained, crate trained, ok free roaming the home, good with kids, dogs, unknown cat behavior, she's not destructive, enjoys meeting new people, likes car rides and daily walks, she's quiet, and a total love to be around. So the big question, why did her owner surrender her? Athena will chase rabbits and has done it a few too many times. Easy fix, we will be requiring a fenced yard to keep this girl home safe and sound....not a big ask when you're getting THE-BEST-PUP!
