Story
Nemo isn’t just a dog—he’s family. A Marvel-level fighter with a heart of gold. He came into our lives during a storm and helped pull us out. He’s battled seizures (once 11 in one night), but now they’re shorter, and he wags his tail through them like the brave boy he is. He’s got about $3K in medical history, but all we ever say is: “We love him 3000.” ❤️ My 16-year-old daughter is his person, but life got too heavy. We're hoping for a foster—maybe 2–3 years—where he can run, be loved, and keep healing. He knows sit, down, stay, and has great recall. Raised by a dog trainer in a house full of dogs, Disney magic ✨, and mischief. He’s got a piece of all our hearts, and while it hurts to let go, we’re trusting the universe (and maybe a little magic mushroom luck 🍄) to bring him the right person. If you speak fluent nerd, believe in second chances, and love big—he might just be your next sidekick. 🐦‍🔥🫶🏼🐠

Story
This sweet senior is Rainy (b. 2014), a German Shepard/Lab mix.  She is looking for a place where she can have a stable routine for walking and exercise.  She enjoys being active and a fenced yard is needed so she can stretch her legs.  She is also leash trained.  Rainy is friendly with other dogs, cats, new people and kids.  She would even be okay with a canine or feline sibling!  She prefers men and would like to have another dog or cat around.  Apply today to welcome Rainy into your home! The suggested adoption donation for Rainy is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
If you're looking to adopt a sensational senior, Lucy is your girl.  She is an Australian Cattle Dog mix, born Dec 2015.  She is a little timid at first, but will be your best pal once she get to know you.  She is seriously the ideal dog!   She needs a home with a fenced yard and she would be okay with another canine friend in her forever home!  Here are a few more fun facts: *Good with kids         *House trained *Low energy              *Quiet/doesn't bark much (inside or outside)              *Curious about cats, but easily redirected when called away  *Trained to stay off furniture      *No counter surfing for food      *Leaves the trash alone and doesn't chew on anything that is out around the house *She does great with people she hasn't met coming in and out of foster's house - no growls or aggressive barks (just a bark when the doorbell rang).  She went right up to the person coming in, sniffed and then rubbed against them. *Lucy likes to follow her foster mom around the house to see what she's doing, but if it's not exciting to her, she will go back to her bed and lay down.   She is on a special diet food to help her reduce the chance of stones forming in her bladder/kidney and she takes medication to help her with urine flow.  If you're looking for a well-behaved senior girl that you don't have to train, Lucy might just be for you. The suggested adoption donation for Lucy is $275. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
Hank (b. 2/2021) is an affectionate Australian Shepherd mix.  He's a really good boy, he just gets a little nervous sometimes.  He loves snuggling and giving hugs or getting pets. He will even stand on his hind legs to get hugs!  He does great with his toys and will let you take them with no problems.  He is a VERY active dog, and loves to play tug-o-war and fetch (even though he doesn’t always want to drop the ball). He would do anything for a treat or an ice cube… he loves to catch and eat ice cubes as fast as he can. Hank is looking for an adult only home and even better if you work from home or are home often.  He needs someone that would be willing to work with him and give him a little training.  A fenced-in yard would be preferred since he has a ton of energy.  Hank is a little sensitve about having his paws touched and it just depends on his mood whether or not he will let you.  If you are calm and patient, then you just might be the perfect match for Hank.  Apply today!! The suggested adoption donation for Hank is $325. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.
