Story
Marcella is a three year old Husky Shepherd mix with bright, intelligent eyes (one blue and one brown/blue), high energy, curiosity, and heart. She is a goofy and charming dog who can be a cuddlebug. I am listing her for my parents (ages 86 and 78). They love her dearly, but due to health and injuries are unable to walk her or provide the active play and stimulation she needs. She thrives on movement; running, tug-of-war, and learning new tricks. This girl is built for adventure! She would flourish in a home with a family that enjoys being outside, staying active, and including their dog in daily fun. She isn’t being surrendered due to a lack of love; just a mismatch in lifestyle. Come and meet her or we could drive her to you within 5-6 hours of home.

Story
We bought bandit from a Australian shepherd breeder at 9 weeks old. He is now about to be 3 in April. He is fixed and his shots are due this month. He is potty trained if left out on a regular basis and is crate trained. Here soon we will have 5 kids and he's always done great with the kids. We have another Australian shepherd he gets along with and also a old cat. He likes to chase squirrels etc and likes to play. I think he would do best in a home with a privacy fence or a farm where he can be trained to herd things. Also someone who is experienced in this breed and can train him properly as he could use some training.

Story
Meet Cash! Cash is a 10 year old Vizsla/Terrier mix. He's loyal and incredibly smart! A Velcro dog who lives for his people. Once you’re “his,” you’re his, and he’ll gladly follow you from room to room, keeping a quiet eye on everything and everyone. He’s deeply devoted, sensitive, and sweet, and truly thrives on companionship. If you’re looking for a best friend who will always be by your side, Cash is your guy. When Cash first came to us, he wasn’t in great shape. It didn’t take long for us to pinpoint the cause. Hypothyroidism. With proper care and an inexpensive daily medication, his thyroid levels are now well managed, and Cash is feeling and looking better than ever. His transformation has been incredible, and he’s truly thriving. Cash is a quieter soul indoors, but when he heads outside, he takes his job seriously—doing a quick perimeter check before proudly announcing that all is well. He loves long walks and adventures (followed by a very well-earned nap), car rides, Kongs, tug-of-war, tennis balls he can proudly destroy, and all the butt scratches. At night, he’ll politely let you know it’s bedtime by alerting you to his dog bed in the bedroom. No human beds for this gentleman, he prefers it this way. Once Cash is comfortable, his personality really shines. He prances with excitement when it’s time to eat, steals soft blankets to make the coziest nest imaginable, and snores loudly while sleeping when his people are away. He’s potty trained, neutered, and knows how to quietly ask to go outside, sometimes with a gentle lick if it’s urgent. Cash can be a bit reserved when meeting new people in his home and needs time to warm up. You have to be invited into his circle (which doesn't take much, really). That said, when he’s out and about, he absolutely loves people and greets strangers with tail wags and joy. He’s protective of his family but has never shown aggression, even when scared. Loud noises make him uneasy, and he prefers a calmer environment. Cash does well with other dogs and has shown no interest in cats when encountering them on walks. However, he is territorial with food, toys, and bones, so he will need to be fed and given high-value items separately. We are actively working on sharing and polite play, but management will be important in his forever home. Cash’s ideal home would be a family who is around most of the time, with someone who works from home or isn’t gone for long hours. He would do best as an only dog or with one very calm, easygoing dog. A fenced yard is a must, along with daily walks (weather permitting—Cash is not a fan of Winter) and playtime. He’d love a home with older kids who understand boundaries and a quieter household...(he LOVES kids) and, of course, unlimited soft blankets to steal. Cash is loyal, gentle, and endlessly loving once he feels safe. He’s overcome so much and is ready to give his whole heart to the right family. Cash is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, 4DX tested, dewormed, and microchipped. Applications to meet Cash can be submitted at: https://www.aplanimalrescue.org/dogs

Story
Hi, I’m Tango — an 8-year-old Goldendoodle with a golden heart, a goofy grin, and a deep passion for belly rubs, road trips, and balls (especially the squeaky kind). In September 2023, I suffered a spinal stroke that left my back legs paralyzed. My family loved me so much, but they knew I needed more care than they could give, so in April 2024, they entrusted me to the amazing team at APL and that’s when my comeback story really began. Since then, I’ve made incredible, unexpected progress. With regular rehab, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and lots of encouragement, I’ve gone from scooting to walking with help, and sometimes even on my own! I can cruise around with and without my custom wheels like a champ, especially if there’s a ball to chase or an adventure to be had. Speaking of adventures, I’m always ready to go. I love car rides, public outings, strolls through the park, and pretty much anywhere my people are headed. I’ll happily roll up to a brewery, hop into a café, or join you for a sunny patio lunch. I’m not picky, as long as I’m included. I also happen to be the world’s most enthusiastic ball-chaser. I may have some mobility challenges, but if there’s a ball in play, you better believe I’m going after it. I’ve got a mean fetch game and the determination like no other. People are my other favorite thing. I’m incredibly social, gentle, and friendly with everyone I meet (kids, adults, other dogs...) I’m just happy to be part of the fun. I don’t chew things I shouldn’t, and I’m always ready to cuddle. I do need a little help with potty time a few times a day, but I’ve even started doing that more on my own lately. The APL crew will show you the ropes, and it’s easier than you might think. I'm looking for a family that sees beyond my different abilities and appreciates my incredible spirit. A household that's patient, loving, and ready to welcome me, despite my need for a bit more care. I promise to reward you with boundless love and joy and be your best companion by stealing your heart from the moment you meet me. If you're looking for a loyal, loving sidekick with a story of resilience, a wag that never quits, and a suitcase packed for life’s next big adventure — I’m your guy. So, what do you say? Want to roll through life with me? Tango is up to date on vaccinations, 4DX tested, microchipped and neutered. He will come with all his cool gadgets so you can easily take him along on adventures. Applications to meet Tango can be submitted at: https://www.aplanimalrescue.org/dogs

Story
Meet Honey! Honey is an Australian Shepherd that came into our care as a stray after being unclaimed for 2 weeks. We are estimating her to be 2 - 4 years old, and she currently weighs around 45 - 50 pounds. True to the breed she can be a bit energetic when first greeting someone but she calms down quickly so you can give her a good snuggle. Honey enjoys going for walks, relaxing in the sun, and cuddling. She is still new to our care and we are still figuring out her likes and dislikes. If interested in adopting Honey please fill out an application online by going to this link: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/RAB/Dog
