Story
*CURRENTLY IN A FOSTER HOME. PLEASE CALL 815-858-2265 TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET PIPER.* I am a transfer from Villalobos Rescue Center in Louisiana and can't wait to be adopted into a nice quiet home. I am pretty shy and get really nervous around new people, especially men. At the shelter I am known to hide under my bed when I'm uncomfortable or scared, but will come out with some gentle persuasion and kibble treats. Once I warm up and get used to a person my favorite is a belly rub followed with lots of hugs. I also don't mind being carried, I'm only 32 pounds. A kind volunteer started a Facebook page for me, you should check it out: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61564085401770 I get along really well with one of the other dogs I transferred with, Gigi, we would play together all the time at the shelter. We have been reunited in the same foster home and have picked up where we left off. In a home setting I would probably be good with an older dog brother or sister to look out for me and boost my confidence. I don't have the tolerance for small children, their quick sudden movements can scare me. If you're interested in me please submit an application. If you are interested in adopting this adorable 3 year old canine weighing 31 pounds, please FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION on our website www.safehavenforpets.org. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 815-858-2265 or email us atsafehaven1471@gmail.com. Story
*CURRENTLY IN A FOSTER HOME. PLEASE CALL 815-858-2265 TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET GIGI/ AKA: ODETTE.* I've been having a great time in my foster home. I'm like a new girl, so I needed a new name! I never responded to Odette, but I will respond to Gigi. My foster parents call me that because I'm such a Good Girl! I transferred from the Villalobos Rescue Center in Louisiana, what a long ride! Now that I'm here at Safe Haven I'm ready for my furrever home. I get along with all the dogs I transferred here with including my best doggie friend Piper. We played together really well and gave each other confidence before I went into foster. I'd probably be good in a home with another mellow dog, I don't care for hyper big dogs. I can be a little nervous when it comes to strangers and tend to bark at them, or avoid looking at them all together. So meeting the people who want to take me home is a challenge, but I can adapt. Once I got settled at the shelter I liked playing outside and geting lovin's from the staff and volunteers. I am 4 years old and 28 pounds, being fostered by a very loving family right now. I was so scared at the shelter I would hide from anyone who wanted to meet me, they're helping me to accept new people and situations. In fact they have a really big dog and we get along fine since he is so laid back and friendly! But I am not good with small children, I get really nervous, their sudden movements scare me, I run away and hide when they're around. I would probably be better in a house with older kids, I need time to adjust and accept all the changes. If you think I am right for your home please submit an application today! If you are interested in adopting this adorable 4 year old canine weighing 20 pounds, please FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION on our website www.safehavenforpets.org. Story
Hi all! I came to the shelter with a buddy, we used to play together before he got adopted. I am happy to meet new people and I can get jumpy at times, but am usually pretty gentle. I like running and checking out everyone and everything here at the shelter, you could call me curious. I just want to see everything and go exploring. I respond well to treats and praise, I will sit even before being asked in hopes of getting a treat. I would probably do very well in a home with another dog to show me how to behave and children over 6 years old. I have met some kids at the shelter and they get showered with kisses, I love everyone I have met here at the shelter. And since I like people I get to go on outings in the community, you may have even seen me at Harvest Fest last year. I graduated from basic obedience training on January 14th with Simba, we did really well. I do need to work on "stay" but will cooperate with "sit" and "leave it" commands. Story
I am currently being foster-trained in Prarie du Sac, Wisconsin and not currently located at Safe Haven. I came to Safe Haven with my 4 puppies who have all been adopted. Now I'm looking for my furever home. I was very scared at first and would bark at men and people wearing hats, preferring the company of women and my puppies. But now I am feeling more comfortable with people and other dogs after being in foster training for a few months. I really love running and playing fetch. I am truly happy when I have one-on-one time with people. My foster/training experience has helped me to get over the jealously issues I was having with other dogs getting the attention I wanted for myself. I am good walking on and off leash, love couch time with plenty of tummy rubs. Thanks to training I have gotten better at not jumping up on people, but haven't stopped completely. I would be my best self in a home with active people I could tag along with, if you think I sound like your kind of girl submit an application today. Story
My best friend Petra and I came to the shelter together because our human couldn't take care of us anymore. We are very close and want to do everything together which is why we MUST be adopted together, but that doesn't mean we don't have time for people...we love people and will do whatever we can to please them. I can be a bit of a barker when people don't pay attention to me, but as long as you're close by I'm a very good boy. I love toys and running around in the yard for exercise, I am quick to pickup on commands and requests from the humans I've met here at the shelter. I am 2 years old and 69 pounds, Petra is 3 years old and 61 pounds.   If you are interested in adopting this adorable pair of canines, please FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION on our website www.safehavenforpets.org. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 815-858-2265 or email us atsafehaven1471@gmail.com. Randy and Petra's adoption donation is $350 which includes both of their vaccinations, spay/neuter, Heartworm test, Lyme test, Bordetella, flea & tick preventative, heartworm prevention, deworming, and microchip. Story
Hi! My buddy, Randy and I come as a pair, we're bonded and will need to be adopted to the same home! Our previous owner had to give us up for health reasons, but the shelter is trying to keep us together. We really need each other and don't react well to being separated, but we're really sweet and love attention. Don't be intimidated by us, we are big but don't want to hurt anyone, just hang our with each other and as many people as we can. I like to chase Randy around outside and steal his toys, he know its because I love him and want to do everything he does. I enjoy being the boss with him, but am very good at learning new commands and will listen to and obey when people tell me to do things here at the shelter. Some info about the two of us: I am 61 pounds and 3 years old, while Randy is 69 pounds and 2 years old.   If you are interested in adopting this adorable pair of canines, please FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION on our website www.safehavenforpets.org.
