Story
Maya is 8 or 9 years old. She was from an Amish breeder here in Wisconsin. She's very smart and energetic. She's a sweet girl. However, she did get into a fight once years ago with another dog over food, and therefore do not recommend homing her with someone who already has a dog. Also, unsure about cats. Because she was aggressive with another dog, I don't think she should be in a house with children, especially small ones. Teens would probably be okay. She does well with kenneling. She has a lipoma in her arm visible in the last pic. Vet said this is nothing serious, just a fatty lump. Listing on behalf of parents whom Maya lives with.

Story
I am a playful guy who can be apprehensive around new people. I have been known to bark at new people and need time to accept them. I enjoy treats, One of my favorite treats are peanut butter, I really like the Jif Natural Creamy...I can't get enough of it! Treats have really helped me learn that new people are good and trustworthy here at the shelter. And once I trust you get ready for PLAYTIME! I love running and playing in the yard, and will run up and hug you showering you with kisses! I'm not sure about the other dogs here at the shelter, I tend to bark at them. I haven't really had may chances to meet a dog in my life, so if I do go to a home with another dog it may take some time to adjust. I do like kids, sometimes I can get carried away and knock them over when I get really excited. If you think you have it in your heart to welcome me into your home, you should apply for me today! Story
*CURRENTLY IN A FOSTER HOME. PLEASE CALL 815-858-2265 TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET PIPER.* I am a transfer from Villalobos Rescue Center in Louisiana and can't wait to be adopted into a nice quiet home. I am pretty shy and get really nervous around new people, especially men. At the shelter I am known to hide under my bed when I'm uncomfortable or scared, but will come out with some gentle persuasion and kibble treats. Once I warm up and get used to a person my favorite is a belly rub followed with lots of hugs. I also don't mind being carried, I'm only 32 pounds. A kind volunteer started a Facebook page for me, you should check it out: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61564085401770 I get along really well with one of the other dogs I transferred with, Gigi, we would play together all the time at the shelter. We have been reunited in the same foster home and have picked up where we left off. In a home setting I would probably be good with an older dog brother or sister to look out for me and boost my confidence. I don't have the tolerance for small children, their quick sudden movements can scare me. If you're interested in me please submit an application. If you are interested in adopting this adorable 3 year old canine weighing 31 pounds, please FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION on our website www.safehavenforpets.org. Story
*CURRENTLY IN A FOSTER HOME. PLEASE CALL 815-858-2265 TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET GIGI/ AKA: ODETTE.* I've been having a great time in my foster home. I'm like a new girl, so I needed a new name! I never responded to Odette, but I will respond to Gigi. My foster parents call me that because I'm such a Good Girl! I transferred from the Villalobos Rescue Center in Louisiana, what a long ride! Now that I'm here at Safe Haven I'm ready for my furrever home. I get along with all the dogs I transferred here with including my best doggie friend Piper. We played together really well and gave each other confidence before I went into foster. I'd probably be good in a home with another mellow dog, I don't care for hyper big dogs. I can be a little nervous when it comes to strangers and tend to bark at them, or avoid looking at them all together. So meeting the people who want to take me home is a challenge, but I can adapt. Once I got settled at the shelter I liked playing outside and geting lovin's from the staff and volunteers. I am 4 years old and 28 pounds, being fostered by a very loving family right now. I was so scared at the shelter I would hide from anyone who wanted to meet me, they're helping me to accept new people and situations. In fact they have a really big dog and we get along fine since he is so laid back and friendly! But I am not good with small children, I get really nervous, their sudden movements scare me, I run away and hide when they're around. I would probably be better in a house with older kids, I need time to adjust and accept all the changes. If you think I am right for your home please submit an application today! If you are interested in adopting this adorable 4 year old canine weighing 20 pounds, please FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION on our website www.safehavenforpets.org. Story
Hi all! I came to the shelter with a buddy, we used to play together before he got adopted. I am so happy to meet new people and I can get jumpy at times, but am usually pretty gentle. I like running and checking out everyone and everything here at the shelter, you could call me curious. I just want to see everything and find where they hide the treats, I haven't found them yet but I'll keep looking. I will need some training, I can get very food motivated to the point I lose focus on people and will do anything to get into the food here at the shelter, I will sit even before being asked in hopes of getting a treat. I would probably do very well in a home with another dog to show me how to behave and children over 6 years old. I have met some kids at the shelter and they get showered with kisses, I love everyone I have met here at the shelter. And since I like people I get to go on outings in the community, you may have even seen me at Harvest Fest this year.           If you are interested in adopting this adorable 8 month old 51 pound girl, please FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION on our website www.safehavenforpets.org. Story
Meet Shadow-Bandit, a spirited and vivacious 1-year-old Terrier mix who's always ready for an adventure! Shadow-Bandit is a bundle of energy looking for a forever home where he can thrive, and he is a highly intelligent dog who flourishes when given a job to do. He loves activities that challenge his mind and body, such as agility training, fetch, or obedience exercises. Whether its running alongside you on a hike, playing with interactive toys, or participating in dog sports, Shadow-Bandit is eager to impress and engage with you. Shadow-Bandit would do best in an active home where he can be a part of family activities. He needs an owner who understands his high energy and is committed to giving him regular exercise and mental stimulation. A home with a secure, fenced yard would be ideal, and he would thrive with daily runs, trips to the dog park, or fun training sessions. He loves to learn new tricks and commands, is playful, and happy. Lets give this energetic pup the job he deserves, and in return, he will fill your life with joy and excitement. Shadow-Bandit is ready to embark on a new adventure with a loving family. Could that be you?
