Story
Hey there, I’m Harry, and I’m a total daddy’s boy! I love hanging out with my favorite guy, whether it’s chilling on the couch or just being nearby. I’m not big on leashes (they’re just not my thing!), so a fenced yard would be good for me. I love being outside! I use pee pads since I have Cushing’s, which means I pee a bit more than most dogs. Just make sure they’re the big ones! I’m a bit hand-shy, but once I warm up, I’m all about the cuddles. I’ve learned how to hide under furniture when I want some alone time, but I promise I’ll come out for some love! If you’re a guy who wants a loyal buddy to hang with, I’m your dog! ----- Harry is part of a bonded pair. Learn more about his sister Carly here. If you know that I am your forever pup, please fill out an adoption application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application. Don't forget to put my NAME on your application! If you cannot adopt me but would like to help DARE pay for my care before I am adopted by my forever family, donate online at https://daretorescue.org/donation or send a check made payable to DARE to:DAREPO Box 21161Tampa, FL 32210     Even if you do not see a dog that matches what you're looking for, you may fill out a no obligation application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application and we will work to find a match for you. Story
Hi, I’m Carly, and once I get to know you, I’m full of playful energy! At first, I can be a little shy and timid, but my personality is really starting to shine. I love being outside—especially when I can run fast and chase squirrels. I even get the zoomies now and then! I’m still learning how to walk on a leash, so I’d do best in a home with a fenced yard where I can safely explore. I have some extra skin that needs to be kept clean to prevent irritation, but it’s no big deal—I don’t mind as long as it keeps me comfy. I’m not super vocal about needing to go outside, so I’ll need someone who can keep a close eye on me. But once you get me outside, I’m ready for fun! If you’re looking for a sweet, playful girl who loves the outdoors, I’m here waiting for my forever home! ---------- Carly is part of a bonded pair. Learn about her brother Harry here. Story
Meet sweet girl Mello Yello!   Mello Yello seems like she did not have a great start in life. She was ultimately abandoned by being tied to a car in front of a facility that does not accept dogs. It’s no surprise she has separation anxiety.   A very very loving person took her in and contacted DARE. She is less than 5 years old, but fully grown.   Mello Yello, a mixed-breed, is spayed and up-to-date on shots and weighs 29 pounds. Her perfect home would be one in which an adult is present most of the time and another dog, which sometimes can help with separation anxiety.   We are working on housebreaking, but she catches on very quickly and is extremely smart.   She seeks attention and affection and is unbelievably sweet and loving. She is good with other dogs and with children and with cats if they don’t run. So getting along with cats can be iffy depending on your cat(s). She has a lot of energy and loves to play.   Mello Yello wants to chase squirrels, lizards, and geese. A fenced yard would be wonderful. She is heartworm positive and we believe slow kill is the best way to deal with it. Whoever adopts her must agree to continue her treatment and DARE will provide all medication until she tests negative. If you know that I am your forever pup, please fill out an adoption application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application. Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Jacksonville, FL Meet Blue! He is an 4 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 47 lbs. He is microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention, but isn’t neutered. Blue is fearful around strangers (he warms up quicker to females when introduced properly). He hasn’t been tested around cats or other dogs, but is fine with the dogs inside of his home. No kids, due to his reactivity! He loves to play fetch, run around the yard, and snuggle up on your lap! Blue has had 3 bite incidents last year. He bit a toddler on the forehead. He bit a child when they approached him on the couch with a big toy. He also bit the owner’s toddler after she approached him and tried to pet him in the kitchen. The owner is surrendering him because he has bitten their young children and shown aggression towards them. He needs to find a new furever home as soon as possible! If you think you can provide a great home for him, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Blue. Owner’s Contact Information: Dayana Alvarez at dayana_01@hotmail.com.

Story
Capitan has come to the shelter due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances. He was adopted from Safe Animal Shelter as a puppy in December of 2019. He lived a beautiful life with his parents, a husband and wife. He was spoiled rotten, provided with love, attention, affection, and the comfort of living in a home. Capitan was the captain of the ship. He received regular showers, and his mother would sing "You Are My Sunshine" to him. Capitan's father became ill and passed away. This left his mother no choice but to return to her home country of Puerto Rico. Capitan is very affectionate and playful, but is otherwise mild mannered. He does not enjoy other dogs or cats. If he sounds like a good fit for your home, ask about him today!
