Story
Maple is a 2.5-year-old French Brittany who packs a whole lot of charm into her perfect 25-pound frame. Her foster family lovingly calls her “Meatball,” and honestly…it fits. She’s adorable, goofy, snuggly, and absolutely devoted to her people. Maple LOVES car rides, plush toys, and curling up next to you for belly rubs. She didn’t get much freedom or enrichment in her early life and likely spent most of her time in a kennel, so she came to us needing a refresher on potty training and some basic house habits. She’s made steady progress but still needs a patient family willing to keep her routine consistent. She can be a bit curious and may check out items that aren’t technically “hers,” so keeping tempting things out of reach and offering plenty of dog-safe toys will set her up for success. Maple does well in her kennel when her people are out of the house. She may give a little protest bark at first (she just has to make sure you know she has notes), but she settles down and rests quietly once she realizes she’s safe. Maple is not a dog that can live with or closely interact with other dogs. Through training, she has made progress in calmly seeing dogs at a distance with positive reinforcement, but pushing those interactions too quickly can cause anxiety for her. For her comfort and safety, she must be an only dog, and a fenced-in yard (ideally privacy fenced) would suit her best so she can explore and enjoy the outdoors stress-free. She’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented. Maple has mastered “sit", and is working on more tricks, but needs a little patience since she isn’t very food motivated. Maple is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Now she’s just waiting for a family who sees how special she is and can give her the structure, love, and dog-free home she deserves. Maple is currently in foster care in Wisconsin and has an adoption donation fee of $400.  If you are interested in adopting her and have been approved to adopt, let your state coordinator know you are interested in her.  If you haven’t yet done so, please go to: https://www.nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application to fill out an application.  Your state coordinator will contact you and take you through the approval process.  If your application looks like a possible fit for her, your coordinator will contact Maple’s coordinator and continue the screening process. Maple’s state coordinator is Hallie Barbara. She can be reached at Minnesotabrittany@gmail.com for questions or inquires.   Thank you for considering this sweet girl.  December 15, 2025, 9:27 am

Story
Hi. My name is Pete. I'm a 4-year-old, orange and white Brittany who was born with cataracts in both eyes: then I went blind.    When I was blind, I engaged in compulsive repetitive  behaviors, such as spinning, barking, and pica (eating non-food items). I had successful eye surgery and now I can see again.  As a result of me regaining my vision, I acquired a new compulsive behavior; eyeing light and shadows. Fortunately, with the help of my medication, my compulsive behaviors, with the exception of pica,  have improved a greatly.    My favorite toy is a black Kong. My foster mom thought it would be good for me because I can't bite through it. I love to fetch and retrieve and could do it all day long. B eing able to see is such a blessing.  If I have trouble finding my Kong, I'm good at a game called Hot and Cold. I respond well to the command  "leave it!" when I find something I want to put in my mouth. I listen well to the command "drop!" when I put an object in my mouth. I weigh 35 lb and I like to stay active. Maybe my foster mom could teach me how to wiggle my tush to  "Nothing But a Hound Dog."   I am not picky about what I eat and will try to swallow anything I put in my mouth. Because I like to swallow everything, I should not be left unsupervised.  When I get anxious, a soothing white noise helps me to stay calm.    I do not get along with other dogs and probably not cats. I have never been around children. I am not sure if I would get along with them or not.    I am a great  leash walker and have perfect recall. I'm up to date on all my vaccines and, other than requiring my eye drops once a day, I am in good health.    I love to ride in the car and watch the world go by as I look out the window.  I am eager to please and will do anything my foster mom ask of me.   I am a happy dog and when I'm tired I love to sit and cuddle in my foster mom's lap.    I'm very thankful for all the care I have received. It has been done with devotion by the people at nbran. I hope that soon I will be in a permanent home with a loving family.     I will need to take my eye drops for the rest of my life, When my foster mother tells me "Chin,"  I rest my head in her hand so she can put the drops in my eyes. My adoption Fee is $400 to help offset my medical expenses and to allow NBRAN to rescue other Brittanys.    NBRAN will provide transportation, up to 1400 miles, to my new approved home.  For more information about me contact Debbie Tuthill agilitybrits@gmail.com or Suzanne Horsley ztasuzanne@gmail.comApril 9, 2025, 2:23 pm

Story
Katie is a young, energetic dog who loves tug of war and laying in the sun. I recently accepted a job that requires us to relocate out west, and we will not be able to take her with us. Katie is kind and gentle with both of our kids. We have a 7 year old boy, who Katie chases around the house. And a 1 year old daughter. Katie enjoys laying on the ground near our daughter, watching her curiously. Katie loves to go on runs, occasionally I ride my bike around the neighborhood while she runs on her leash beside me. Katie is highly treat motivated, and has been easy to train basic commands. Shortly after we brought Katie home, she was attacked by another dog of similar size while I was walking her in the neighborhood, she has been distrustful of dogs ever since, and will become aggressive when other dogs get too close. We love Katie and want nothing more than for her to find a loving household to give her the attention and exercise she deserves

Story
Wonderful, happy, beautiful two-year-old girl who loves people, hiking, chasing her ball, and swimming. We adopted her many months ago, but she has does not get along well with our first, older dog. She loves her humans - kids and adults alike - and is friendly, happy and loving. She is well trained and can sit, stay, "leave-it" and uses a dog door with no problem. She is completely house-trained. Beyond the issues with our older dog, her personality (curious and funny) makes her one of the favorite dogs that we have owned. We know that as an only canine in the household, she will make her person or family very happy!
