Story
Zoe is a gorgeous 5-year-old spayed female Doberman who’s as smart as she is affectionate. A natural people-pleaser, she thrives on praise and loves both adventure and snuggle time equally. She gets along great with other dogs and is always the first to play-bow, but she’s not suited for homes with cats or small livestock like goats and sheep. Zoe responds well to positive reinforcement training and is eager to learn. She’s house-trained but will need a refresher since she’s been living in an outdoor kennel. Ready for hikes, cuddles, and everything in between, Zoe is looking for a home where she can be part of the family and share in plenty of love and fun. Could she be the perfect companion for you?

Story
Meet Rusty, a 5-year-old neutered red male Doberman who's a gentle giant at around 90 lbs & on the larger side for his breed. He's great with children and adults alike, making him an excellent family companion. Rusty gets along well with submissive dogs, especially females, but isn't suited for homes with cats, chickens, or smaller farm animals. He's perfectly fine around horses, though. Rusty would love a large yard or some acreage to stretch his legs. He's your home's loyal protector, always keeping watch over who's coming and going. Despite his size, Rusty has a calm and laid-back demeanor, and he absolutely adores snuggling with his favorite person. He's house trained but has been kenneled outdoors for the past year, so he might need a refresher on indoor manners. Rusty knows basic commands, is current on all vaccinations, microchipped, and ready to settle into his forever home where his goofy, loving personality can truly shine!

Story
Animal Profile: Copper is an estimated 3-year-old, 80 lb neutered male Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. He was originally picked up as a stray in Georgia and joined us from via Project Freedom Ride. He was evaluated to be very friendly with dogs and people. Foster Update: Copper is young and full of energy, but it's easy to wear him out with some exercise. He loves to chase balls, although he is still working on returning and dropping them. Copper can be cautious around new people, but once he warms up to them (or they give him a treat), he is very affectionate. He is able to make friends with other dogs after slow and proper introductions. With a confident handler, Copper doesn't react much to other dogs when on leash. He likes to lead but does not pull on walks. Adopter Profile: Single family dwelling with a securely fenced yard. No cats or small animals. Large breed experience and breed experience a plus!  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/Bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue. Apply online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was picked by animal control in GA and transported via Project Freedom Ride to Seattle.  He arriving here on 10/22/22 and has been in foster care for nearly a year.  He is eager to find his forever home and is available for adoption.November 16, 2024, 12:23 am

Story
Bingo has been adopted and returned four times with no adoption lasting longer than three weeks. He has special behavior needs but has no aggression or bite history. Please read his profile carefully as Bingo is still waiting on his angel. No apartments will be considered. Animal Profile: Bingo is a young male blue Doberman who was picked up as a stray in Bakersfield and taken to the overcrowded shelter where he was euthanasia listed for space. The shelter estimated his age as two based on a quick exam, but in foster care upon arrival we determined he was less than one year old based on his teeth and continued growth in foster care. At the shelter, he was pretty shy and shut down, which is typical for the breed, but still friendly to people and dogs. He joined us on 11/27/22 and is a long-stay in the rescue due to his special needs. Foster Update: Bingo is a young and active boy; he loves to play with other dogs and is friendly with all people, including small children. He has lived with small children for over a year and is sweet and affectionate. He is currently being fostered with other dogs and young kids and gets along well with everyone. Bingo is inclined to some bratty behavior toward other dogs around resources in a new environment. Once he understands his pack order (and with human communication) he settles in well and can share his space and toys. He can take treats around other dogs but does eat in his crate to help with ongoing crate training. Bingo has no issues resource guarding with people; you can remove objects from his mouth without issue if needed in a situation such as he grabs a piece of food he is not supposed to have. He has been to doggy daycare playgroups with large groups of dogs of all sizes and done well with everyone. Bingo is potty trained, and walks well on leash with a confident handler. This young and active boy is so very handsome and has a typical Doberman velcro personality. He also loves his sweater and curling up into little spaces. Bingo has not lived with cats and did not test well with cats so will need a feline free home. Bingo is also very vocal and unsettled in the crate without a training collar; he needs a super crate (provided with adoption). He may do better in a kennel run but that wouldn't be an option in inclement weather. He would not be suitable in an apartment or space with shared walls. Adopter Profile: Real talk, Bingo has been adopted and returned 4x, two of the adopters had him less than 72 hours. He has spent most of the last 20 months in the Director's house with 6 dogs and three kids under 4. He's a nice dog but he's not an easy dog.  Problem #1) Bingo has major FOMO. He will let you know by barking his head off. He is e-collar trained but many folks aren't into using a bark collar (unless you like to get sleep or not listen to barking all day). Bingo is fine with a bark collar on, but if you don't put it on or forget to charge it, he will quickly remind you the second you don't include him in something he thinks he should be included in. He may eventually be OK to be left outside the crate, but one of his three adoption returns stated that when left alone he ate the carpet. He doesn't really have separation anxiety because he's actually very good in the crate when he knows it's non-optional. It's the options, for him, that are troubling. Problem #2) Also, another conundrum: Bingo LOVES to play with other dogs and is actually very social. But he's a bit of a punk and will posture over toys and even thresholds (doorways). He would benefit (for his own psyche) from a pack, but is a lot to manage. Luckily he has easy tells; if you know dogs you can see when he starts being a stinker and quickly interrupt it. He's never caused harm to another dog. But he's not a Kumbaya dog. His best match will be a very confident male or female of any size. Second best match would be a super beta dog. Problem #3) Finally, Bingo loves attention and to snuggle and all the Doberman things. But the more you do of this the worse problems 1 and 2 get. So, there's that. His best attribute? He has zero human aggression. Even when wrestling him like a bear for a bath (which he hates), he has never offered to bite. So at least he has that going for him. We know his unicorn is out there. * fingers crossed * Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter (neutered Dec 2022), core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was found as a stray and rescued from euthanasia at Bakersfield Shelter in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 11/27. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.November 6, 2024, 5:36 pm

Story
Animal Profile:  Banks was born in the rescue 11/05/22. He was adopted as a puppy, but started showing resource guarding behavior in the home; it was mainly directed at the senior male dog but he was also vocal about being bothered when he was asleep on the couch. Banks was very loved, but his family realized they could not provide the structure he needs to thrive. Banks regularly attended doggy daycare, and does well in a stable pack. True to the Doberman breed, Banks is family oriented, incredibly smart, affectionate and athletic.  Adopter Profile: Large breed dog experience required Doberman experience a plus No first time dog owners Securely fenced yard preferred Single family residence required (no apartments) Foster Update: Banks was fostered here as a puppy, and seemed to fall right back in line with our current pack (chihuahua mix, another male Doberman and a 50lb cattle dog mix). When he returned, we implemented good structure and routine, and focused efforts on his obedience. With a focus on a strong foundational relationship, Banks has shown zero resource guarding with food, chews or toys with his foster family. He will curl his lip in a dog approaches his bowl when eating, so he is only given his food and chews in his crate. Banks now heels well on leash, has good recall, knows basic obedience commands sit, down, crate and place command. Banks has also started e collar introduction for off leash freedom and recall. He is loyal, affectionate, loving, and incredibly intelligent. Banks will need an owner with large/working breed experience that could set healthy boundaries in the home otherwise he will test boundaries.  Adoption Info:  Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter required within 90 days, age appropriate vaccinations, deworming and microchip. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History:  This dog was born in the care of Dog Gone Seattle on 11/4/22 after mom was rescued heavily pregnant from Eastern Washington. This puppy will be available for adoption in Seattle at 8 weeks of age. Story
Animal Profile: Rose and Sadie were found abandoned in Cheney, WA in 2020. They were rescued by a loving family and have been in a home ever since. Unfortunately, one of their owners suffered a life-alternating medical emergency that resulted in massive brain surgery. This person now requires round-the-clock care, and the dogs need a new place to call home. When we heard their story, we had to help! Rose and Sadie are both dog friendly and have lived with large and small dogs, as well as gone to doggy daycare. They are house and crate trained, and true to the breed would like to be your constant shadow. Rose and Sadie have been around children ranging from toddlers to teens. Rose can get a little tired of the small ones and will excuse herself to a crate if she’s done interacting. Sadie would love nothing more than to permanently attach herself to the kids. Sadie is overweight at 100 lbs and is currently on a weight loss journey. Rose and Sadie have lived together since 2020 and we would love to find these girls a home together. Foster Update: Coming soon! Adoption Info: Combined adoption fee is $550 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, health certificate, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Sadie is currently being fostered in the greater Seattle area and will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.November 6, 2024, 5:36 pm
