Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cookie is crate-trained and house-trained—even uses a bell when she wants to go outside. She loves to cuddle and loves attention but also enjoys quiet time alone. She will sometimes jump on people, so we’d be hesitant to send her to a home with small children. She is shy and scared of loud noises, and she will hide from strangers but will eventually warm up.  From the owner:  The Wonder Twins are 11 month old doberman/poodle mix brother and sister duo weighing about 40lbs, who have never been separated and LOVE to jump tall fences. Cookie (like Oreo cookies) is a black and grey female who is very sweet, calm but shy. She loves to find a quiet spot to lay down. She is kennel trained and house trained, and she knows basic commands. She received her first puppy shots and had her tail docked before she was adopted, but due to health issues of the owners, they haven't been to the vet since. She is healthy as far as we know. She received her rabies vaccine on November 30, 2024. She is shy when around adults at first but have grown up around kids (3 year old+) and are great with them, including being little vacuums for crumbs. She has been introduced to other dogs, both in private settings as well as public, with no aggression. She's been around chickens and goats as well with no issues! She does react toward cats. Due to increased health issues of the owner, we are trying to find a new home as soon as possible. She is located near Orange, Virginia. She comes with everything (XL kennel, food/water dishes, leashes, harness/collars). CVRR is listing this dog as a COURTESY to the actual owner. This dog is not currently in the care of CVRR, and CVRR makes no representations or guarantees for the animal's behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed has been given by the dog's current owner and should be verified by any interested potential adopter. Cookie’s adoption fee is $275 and will cover the distemper vaccine and spay. She is current on rabies vaccine. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 26, 2024, 11:44 pm

Story
Dakota is a very affectionate, gentle, 97 pound, 7-8 year old female Black/tan Doberman with a calm and friendly personality. She is a bit overweight and on a journey to a healthier leaner body. Dakota is a special needs dogs; she had a cancerous mass which was removed. There are currently no signs of cancer but she should be monitored to see if it returns. Dakota greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail and gentle kisses. Dakota is calm and well-mannered. She is content to take naps and relax. If she is left alone she does will whine and pace. She is not destructive but will chew a blanket. Her first day of unrestricted activity was December 9th (post-surgery) so she is just now beginning to take longer walks in the backyard and play with some of her outside toys. She sleeps through the night on her dog bed. Dakota will do best in a new home where someone is home with her. She does well when riding in car. Dakota did spend the Thanksgiving Holiday with another Doberman, Dolly, a 2 year old female. While Dakota’s activity was still restricted at the time she got along well with Dolly. She would be a good companion for an older or more relaxed playmate rather than rough-housing with a young puppy. Dakota is fostered in MD. If you are interested in meeting Dakota, please contact her foster parent. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Tina is a 2 year old, cropped and docked, black and tan female Doberman. She is playful, happy, and energetic. Tina is crate and house trained. She needs a little time to warm up to other dogs but Tina would love to have a canine playmate at home. Tina is looking for an active home with people who are committed to doing training, activities, and brain games daily. Tina LOVES to play fetch. Balls Are Life. Tina loves to chase anything that moves. Squirrels, rabbits, birds, bicyclists and runners are all worthy of being chased. Because of this she may do best with older kids who can be mindful not to incite her to chase. Due to her love of chasing, Tina will not be placed in a home with cats, small mammals, or birds. In general, Tina can be shy when meeting new people. But for folks who are patient she quickly warms into a Velcro Doberman who wants to be in the room with you and snuggle on the couch too. Tina is smart and treat-motivated. She would do well with someone willing to train her and help her work through some of her fears, but that will take time. Tina gets very excited when she sees other dogs while she is on a leash. For now, Tina needs a fenced yard so you can keep neighborhood walks to the minimum and during quiet times. Tina would do best in a suburban or rural home with less pedestrian and canine traffic. She could be a single dog or go to a home with a calm, but playful partner pup, if the humans can commit to slow introductions. Tina has been happily coexisting with a 50-pound senior female dog in her foster home for three weeks. If you think you may be the right fit for Tina please contact us. Tina is fostered in Virginia. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed

Story
Meet Blue, Blue was part of a cruelty case involving 9 pure bred Dobermans. Blue has spent his entire life, locked in a kennel 23 out of 24 hours a day. Him and many of the dogs were deprived for human attention and food. Through it all, Blue has remained the sweetest, funniest, outgoing pup you ever met! He is very friendly towards humans and loves to wrestle with other dogs in the yard. He is definitely soaking up all his freedom and not taking it for granted. We are hoping his new life with be full of love, a large backyard, and many adventures he never got to do as a pup. * BLUE IS SCHEDULED FOR A NEUTER JUNE 25th * If you are interested in adopting Blue, please submit an application to be contacted!
