**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Lanie. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 52 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Columbiana area and I was brought into the pound. I am a very sweet, affectionate, energetic girl looking for a loving new family to join. I would do best in an active family that can spend a little time working with me on my manners and training, but overall I'm a pretty good little girl. I have done well with the other dogs here at the pound and I like to play. I have been very clean in my kennel here at the pound and I appear to be at least mostly housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Amish dog very rough  J oe Bob, affectionately known as "Joey," is a sweet 2-year-old red Doberman who has overcome a difficult beginning. Rescued from an Amish breeder, Joey's past was one of little care, medical attention, or affection. But now, he's slowly discovering what it means to give and receive love. Joey's journey has come with some unique traits that make him all the more special. He has a distinctive cleft nose, which doesn't require any surgery – we think it adds to his charm! Despite his challenging past, Joey had successful surgery to correct entropion, a condition affecting his eyelid. Joey loves to carry around fabric items like towels, blankets, or anything soft he can find. He's also a big fan of chewing on deer antlers and Nylabones. This sweet boy craves gentle affection and adores pets and scratches. Every day, he shows us just how much he wants to trust people, and he’s making beautiful progress. Joey is wonderful with kids and other dogs, though he can be a bit timid when meeting new people. Once he warms up, he becomes a total love bug, ready to snuggle and play. He has moderate energy, enjoying a balance of running laps around the backyard with his foster dog siblings and curling up on the couch for some cuddle time. Joey does get startled by loud noises and will need a home with a secure, fenced yard where he can safely play and explore. He has a high prey drive, so he isn’t a good fit for homes with cats or small animals like chickens or bunnies. He's been fantastic with children of all ages. Joey has been working with a trainer and has already mastered several commands like sit, heel, come, place, no, and leave it. With continued training, he’s sure to blossom even more. He’s looking for an adopter who has patience and time to help him continue his journey towards trust and love. Joey is ready to find his forever home.  Is it yours?  Apply at www.DUdobes.org Doberman Underground adopts to Ohio and some close in parts of bordering states.  There is a full list of states and specific counties we adopt to at the top of our application.   * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *  Sponsor Me by purchasing: Toys / Treats $10.00 USDLeash & Collar $15.00 USDMonth of Food $35.00 USDMonthly Heartworm/Flea/Tick $40.00 USDTransportation Costs $60.00 USDVaccinations $100.00 USDSpay / Neuter $150.00 USDThyroid Panel $150.00 USDIncoming vetting $300.00 USDHeartworm Treatment $1,500.00 USD  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 19, 2024, 5:04 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Charleston is a spirited 1-year-old red Doberman ready to embark on his next adventure with a loving forever family. Rescued along with 26 other Dobermans from a rough situation with a "breeder" in West Virginia, Charleston has come a long way and is eager to embrace his bright future! This high-energy boy is a true working dog who thrives when he has a job to do. Whether it's long walks, games of fetch, wrestling with a canine buddy, or chewing on a sturdy bone, Charleston is always ready for action. A fenced yard is ideal for him, providing a safe space to zoom around and burn off his energy. Charleston is incredibly curious and loves exploring new things. After living in a kennel, the world is a new and exciting place for him! While he's cautious with unfamiliar experiences, his confidence grows quickly once he realizes there's no threat. Despite his active nature, Charleston has a sweet and snuggly side. This velcro Doberman will happily curl up next to his people when it’s time to relax. In his foster home, he’s learned to bond with the other large dogs, enjoying playful chases and wrestling matches. Older kids are a great match for Charleston, but he’s too much for small children, and their energy can make him nervous. He hasn’t been cat tested. Charleston is making great progress with basic commands like come, down, off, and even kiss!  An experienced Doberman owner who has a canine companion to keep him entertained will be everything Charleston needs to thrive and bring endless love and joy to his home. Are you ready to give Charleston the active, loving life he deserves? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Iron PupsKordell is a 4-month-old black and tan Doberman puppy who embodies the perfect blend of playful energy and sweet snuggles. Surrendered to Doberman Underground with his sister Kosar, Kordell is ready to bounce (literally!) into his forever home. In the mornings, Kordell is a bundle of excitement, hopping around like a tiny kangaroo. But don’t worry—after some playtime, he loves to settle down for long naps, preferably curled up next to you under a pile of cozy blankets.  Over the coming months his stamina will increase and he'll be a typical, highly energetic youngster. Kordell is a social butterfly and would thrive in a variety of home settings. He’s great with kids of all ages, dogs of all sizes, and even cats! While Kordell loves to play with his foster canine siblings, growing up takes a lot of energy so he will take long, peaceful snoozes while gearing up for his next playtime. He’s a big fan of cuddling with his furry friends. For his safety, Kordell needs a fenced yard to provide a safe play area, as his curious nature makes him easily distracted and prone to dash off.  Kordell is looking for an adopter with prior Doberman or large working breed ownership experience.  He'll also need a companion dog.   If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and snuggly addition to your family, Kordell might just be the perfect match! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.WV DogsCairo is an energetic, playful, and incredibly lovable 1 year old red Doberman.  Her unique ears add to her irresistible charm and cuteness. When Cairo first arrived, she was very shy, but her sweet and spunky personality blossomed right away. She absolutely adores playing rough-and-tumble games with her foster sister, a 3-year-old English Bulldog, and they are fast friends. She also has an 8-year-old Boston Terrier/Pug mix foster brother, although her play style can sometimes be a bit too much for him. Cairo just loves all her toys! Stuffies, balls, bones, tug toys, squeakers—you name it, Cairo is a fan. Cairo roams freely during the day without accidents and sleeps peacefully in her crate at night, although she would much prefer cuddling with her people! She loves to settle down in the evenings for snuggles on the couch with her foster siblings and her humans. This smart girl is learning the ropes with basic commands like sit, stay, shake, down, and drop it. She’s also improving on leash-walking and loves chasing a ball in the yard—though she hasn’t quite mastered the art of bringing it back yet. A fenced yard is ideal, as Cairo enjoys her outdoor playtime, and her foster family has ensured she stays safe while exploring. Cairo is friendly and affectionate with everyone she meets. She happily greets visitors and warms up quickly, even with strangers like the mailman. She has been very gentle with small children during brief encounters but would thrive best in a home with older kids (8 and up) due to her high energy. Cairo has shown no reactivity to the family cat; she was curious at first but quickly lost interest and now calmly walks past. Like many young Dobermans, Cairo is still learning what’s appropriate to chew, but she redirects easily with her own toys. She’s shown no interest in the Christmas tree or gifts and prefers chewing on her dog dish instead. Surprisingly, Cairo isn’t much of a barker; she’s content to observe when her foster siblings bark at someone or another dog. Cairo is eager to please, smart, and goofy, with an endless capacity for love and loyalty. She needs an experienced adopter who has owned Dobermans or large working breed dogs, a fenced yard to play in, and another playful dog companion to match her energy. Cairo would make a perfect addition to a home ready for her active and loving personality. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, and spirited companion, Cairo might just be the girl for you.
