Story
Rooster is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is a healthy and happy boy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to Columbus, Akron, or Cincinnati Ohio. Rooster resides with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy. You may also find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/houstonshaggydogrescue

Story
Hunter is a young boy that was pulled from an abandoned property. He was found howling in a shed. He is now in search of greener grass . Hunter has come leaps and bounds since being rescued from an abuse/neglect scenario two years ago. His family adores him, but he has never grown very tolerant of young kids. it breaks their heart that he barely lets them pet him. We are in search of a kid free or older kid household for him. He will require a strong fence and an active owner or a high energy female dog to romp with. Other attributes:Loves to snuggle night and day - a Velcro dog for adults. Goofy. Smart. His nose finds all stray food. Loves car rides. Tolerates a crate. Boards well. Hes a great guard dog. Alpha male - cannot be with most adult male dogs, but he loves puppies and kittens. He chases the skittish cat, but not the confident cat. High energy - he runs 3 miles daily beside a bike or off leash with a shock collar on trails. Leash skills are decent. Minimal shedding. No grooming needed! Vetting up to date.!Apply for this happy go lucky pup at ricopetrecovery.orgFee is $250

Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.
