Story
Benny will soon be `paw-roled` from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department, and is looking for his forever home! Each dog is paired with two inmate trainers and enrolled in an 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. Each of these dogs will go home potty and crate trained with a whole list of cues and basic behaviors; to ensure a successful adoption, we are providing four training sessions to adopters, so you can learn what your dog knows, and an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered.Benny is a dobie cross, with your typical mushy dobie temperament. He is sweet as can be, and will melt into pets with pretty much everyone he meets. At only 7 months, weighing in at 45 + lbs, he will be a BIG handsome boy! All the better to have started the training now, which he is doing brilliantly in. He is still developing his confidence, but is curious, and looks to his humans for guidance and assurance. Benny would love to be in a home with a family that will shower him with affection, continue his training, and provide support while introducing him to new adventures out in the world.

Story
Three-year old Hugo was found as a stray in Roswell with an injury to his right eye. At first he kept the eye closed but after a few weeks of drops and anti-inflammatories, he appears to be more comfortable and is now able to open up his eye. Our vet believes Hugo has no vision in the injured eye but that doesn't slow this boy down! He is housebroken, crate trained and loves to ride in the car. Hugo enjoys chewing on bones and is a playful, loving boy. He is not exposed to children or cats in his foster home but is tolerant of the small dogs. Please go to our website @ http://www.dobermanrescuenm.org and complete an application for this deserving Doberman. A $300.00 adoption fee applies.
