Story
Rooster is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is a healthy and happy boy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to Brattleboro or White River Junction VT. Rooster resides with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy. You may also find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/houstonshaggydogrescue

Story
*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.* Bambi is a sweet 1 year old mix who loves to go on walks and is hoping for a family that will give him lots of belly rubs.  Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be. This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.   ##2071710##

Story
Vinnie, 9 months, 32 lbs, was in a Cleveland, TX pound and was scheduled to be euthanized on 6/14! Instead, this sweet petite boy got his freedom ride north! We think that he is a Doberman mixed with a smaller breed since he is a little guy. It's a best guess though, and we can't guarantee we are right.  He will be available 6/30. Story
IDGSR Welcomes MABLE into the safety of the rescue!! THIS DOG IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE & AVAILABLE FOR TRANSPORT ************** Hey Y'all! My name is Mable and I'm a shy but sweet 8-month old Shepherd mix little girl. I am located near the Greeneville, Tennessee area and am available for transport to my forever home! Here are 8 fun facts about me & my ideal home! 1. I'm a bit shy but can warm up to you if you talk real nice and are sweet to me. I have SO much love to give, if given the chance. 2. My unique coloring makes me look like a tiger! I've considered joining the circus since no one has wanted to adopt me. I'm waiting to hear if they accepted my tiger application! 3. Do you need someone to vent to? Share life's highs and lows with? Complain about your stuck up boss at work or that annoying co-worker? Guess what, I make a great therapist! The best part, I'll never share your secrets :) 4. I'm loving, affectionate, CAT FRIENDLY, sweet, medium in size, and overall just great! I have so much love to give and desperately want a family to call my own! 5. I would be a great fit for someone wanting a medium size pup, I should only be about 50ish pounds when full grown. 6. If you live in an apartment, condo, townhome, smaller house, or have breed strict HOA rules, I can bypass those since I'm not a full blood German Shepherd! 7. I would LOVE to have a helper dog who will help me build my confidence and that I can play with. When I get zoomies, it is so funny! I hope you have a fenced in yard for me to play in too! 8. I've spend my whole life growing up in the rescue, while I'm loved and cared for, that is no place for a puppy to live her best life! Adopt me so we can start doing fun things & living a great life together!
