Story
Tall, dark, and exceptionally handsome, Howie seeks a forever home. Pal's Place rescued this stunning, unique-looking pup from an overburdened and overcrowded animal control facility in Kentucky. He's now in a fantastic foster home in Chicago, patiently waiting to meet his forever family! Originally found as a stray and never claimed, Howie's past and breed mix is a mystery, but our 75-pound lovable derp is a young adult, estimated to be between 2 and 3 years of age. A genuine super mutt, appearances suggest a melting pot of several breeds in his lineage, but we suspect some Doberman, Weimaraner, Great Dane, and possibly Coonhound can be found somewhere in his family tree. Without a DNA test, we cannot be sure of his breed mix, but we are sure that Howie is 100% Good Boy, and he'll be the most fantastic, loyal, and steadfast companion for one lucky household.
Howie is an easy-going, adaptable, and social dog that will fit in readily in most homes. He is terrific with other dogs of all sizes and also good with children and dog-savvy cats. He's not aggressive with them but does attempt to play with his feline friends, and not all kitties welcome or appreciate invitations to play from large dogs. Howie is also quiet and well-behaved in the home, housebroken, crate trained, and knows his basic commands. He's neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested (negative). He is also taking monthly heartworm and flea preventatives. Howie is ready for his next chapter and anxious to meet you! His adoption fee to the rescue is $375. He's being fostered on Chicago's north side, and meetings can be arranged by appointment once an application has been submitted to Pal's Place and approved for adoption.
