Story
Moose is active and curious. He loves spending his days outside exploring the yard and checking what everyone else is doing. He enjoys taking walks and walks well on a leash. He would be great with someone who could spend more active time with him and stimulate him. We originally took in Moose from a friend of a friend who lived in an apt. He had to stay in his cage for hours during the day. We had a fenced in yard and other dogs so we thought we’d be the perfect fit. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. Moose would thrive with someone who is active and could spend more dedicated time with him. He gets along with other dogs but I would recommend taking it slow and really understanding if your current pets will welcome another dog in their crew.

Story
Meet Nova.  We were told Nova's dad was in the military and deployed, leaving three Dobermans with no where to go. The boys found safety, but the person who was going to take her, planned to breed her asap. As soon as we found out about the situation we knew we needed to help.  Nova is now safe with us. It’s so sad because her world has been turned upside down and if you know the breed - you know how sensitive they are. We saw a picture of her laying in the sunshine tucked against her brothers, and out of nowhere it all changed. This big baby is about as tender hearted as they come. Dobermans are often referred to as “dogs with the human mind” because they are to intune to what owners are feeling too. Needless to say this has been a lot for her. Nova is 1.5-2 years old and 80 pounds.  Nova needs a dobie loving home where she can thrive and be cherished. She’s been great with all the dogs she’s met thus far and loves kids! For more info please contact us asap! Please share with any Doberman lovers you know as well. We all thank you for helping us make these happily ever after s happen. Email adrienne@rescuemega.org PLEASE NOTE: Previous firsthand ownership experience with purebred Dobermans is a strict requirement to adopt Nova ##1703116##

Story
Adoption fee: $300 Physical appearance: Kali is a 6-year-old, black and tan, female Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. She is a big girl at 90 pounds. Kali was born with one eye that is smaller than the other, a condition called uveitis that has caused blindness in that eye, and she will require daily eye medication to keep her comfortable. Personality, Manners, and Training: Kali was previously adopted from GDR but was returned due to changing family circumstances. This girl is an A-class snuggler and LOVES her people. She is a wonderful family dog who does great with kids. Kali has energy and will run and play as much as you let her so she needs a real outlet for her energy. She loves playing with tennis balls and other toys. Sometimes she will bark and whine to protest not getting her way, so she won't be good for an apartment, townhome, or condo. She needs someone who won't give into her every protest or just let her do whatever she wants. She knows how to sit and wait patiently for her dinner until you tell her to eat, and she is crate trained, but she will try to convince you that she isn't. Her leash training could use some work. She gets along with other dogs, but needs a slow and careful introduction. She also gets along with cats and even rabbits.  Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on Rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, spayed, and microchipped before adoption. ##127561##

Story
Adoption fee: $300 DISCLSIMER: Sam is a true working Doberman. He has natural protection instincts that the average family cannot handle. He will only be adopted to a home that intends to seriously train and work him, and will absolutely not be homed with any children under the age of 15. Physical appearance: Sam is an all-natural, black and tan, male Doberman that is about 4 years old. He is average size for a male Doberman with a weight of 71lbs. Personality: Sam is a wonderful dog with a sweet and playful personality with his family.  He is BFFs with his foster sister and they hang out together and play all the time. While his natural ears and tail make him absolutely adorable looking, he is also an intense watch dog and protector. He is very protective of his foster mom which has led to an incident where he nipped a guest.  He is not a dog you can expect to be social. if you have people in and out of your house all the time, he is not the dog for you. He is a true Doberman and is not what you commonly find in a rescue dog.  He is fearless, intense, and alert but he is not aggressive.  He needs an experienced owner that knows how to train and lead him and will not leave him to his own devices. He does well with both men and women once he gets to know them, but initially is extra wary of men. he needs a proper introduction and for his owner to show him that they are okay. He will not be adopted to a home with any male dogs, but females are fine. He will also not be adopted to a home with small children. We will require all kids to be over 15 years old. Why he’s in rescue: Sam has an unusual rescue story. A friend of the rescue was working in Qatar where Dobermans are illegal.  Despite them being illegal, many of the wealthier residents import them anyways. They usually import them from Serbia and get them based on the idea of a Doberman, leaving them as decorations or using them as guard dogs as opposed to pets.  Sam's owner no longer wanted him and he was abandoned at a kennel. Our friend contacted us asking if we would take him if she brought him back with her. If we didn't, he'd likely be euthanized or abandoned in the desert unfortunately common for unwanted dogs). We couldn't say no. Manners and training: Sam is crate trained, potty trained, and does pretty well on a leash.  He is a fast learner and would excel at any sort of training or sport you wanted to do with him, especially obedience or schutzhund/bite work.  If you've wanted a dog you can do sports with, this is the dog for you. He is not suitable as a couch potato, and we will require his adopter to be registered for training classes before he can be adopted. He is currently working with a trainer in Lawrenceville that specializes in working dogs and absolutely adores him. We have had an evaluation done by her that we are happy to share with prospective adopters. if possible, we would love to see him continue his training with her.  Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, neutered and microchipped before adoption.   ##1810600##

Story
Adoption fee: $300 Physical appearance:  Nina is a 6-year-old female Doberman with floppy cropped ears and a docked tail.  She is a long, tall girl - and weighs around 80 pounds.  Due to her surgeries, she had dropped weight to 67 - but is well on her way to gaining that muscle and healthy weight back! Personality:  Nina is a loving, curious, goofy doberman.  She has shown some tendencies to get really clingy and "velcro" to one member of her foster family, but is incredibly sweet to all. She has also shown some rather timid behavior, and does take a minute to warm up to anyone who is not "her person".  Her energetic and playful side make the entire family laugh.  Her energy level is rather moderate for a doberman.  Nina has done exceptionally well with her foster families children (8) and (6) - but as with all dogs - supervision is absolutely needed to protect both. Due to her tendency to love to steal and chew on socks - her future family will need to keep a VERY close eye on her for that and we would advise against smaller children for this reason and any older kids who cannot pick up after themselves.  She does well in her crate - and has done great in a dog pen/crate attachment during the day to keep her out of trouble while foster dad is working. Nina has shown to be friendly to other dogs - her timid nature will necessitate a careful eye to make sure she isn't bullied.  Nina has also done well around her foster families cats - she mostly ignores them but will run away when they hiss.   Why she's in rescue:  Nina was an owner surrender due to extensive medical bills from ingesting clothing. This was the second time she had needed an obstruction surgery and her family could not afford it.  As a last-ditch effort, the vet contacted us and asked if we could help. Manners and Training: Nina is crate trained, potty trained and overall has great manners.  She is very food driven so training should come pretty easily with time and effort.  She does great in a car and will curl up and go to sleep.  Her leash training is ok - she does pull quite a bit, and will "buck up" and try to slip a collar if she doesn't want to go a certain direction.  Due to this - her fosters have worked primarily with a harness for her - which she has taken to quite well.   She knows some basic commands like "sit". Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, spayed and microchipped before adoption.   ##1850530##

Story
Adoption fee: $400 Physical appearance: Jolene is a 16 month old red and rust female Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. She is average size for a Doberman, weighing in at  60lbs. Personality: Jolene is a sweet but intense Doberman.  When she looks at you, she looks straight into your soul. She’s a smart girl and a fast learner but we've seen some challenging behavioral quirks that require a very specific and experienced hime. She has displayed resource guarding tendencies with food, toys, and sometimes the space around her. Some of this way be nerves of being in a new place, but it's still behavior that potential adopters need to be aware of. She is also very vocal and will growl even in play. Because of the resource guarding, she would do best as an only dog so she doesn't feel like she's competing for anything and absolutely no children of any age. Cats are fine though as she ignores the ones in her foster home. Why she’s in rescue: Jolene was surrendered to animal control by her family after nipping a small child in the home. She was alone with the child and no one saw what happened, but because of this we will not home Jolene to a home with children of any age. Manners and training: Jolene has no manners and needs a lot of work. She will jump up and drag you around on a leash. She does seem to know how to sit, but thats the extent of her training. On the bright side, she is a fast learner and has great focus. So long as you can get past her stubborn streak, she should be a breeze to train. Vetting: All our dogs are brought up to date on rabies, Bordetella, and combo, negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms, spayed and microchipped before adoption.  ##1946312##

Story
A LOVING CONSTANT COMPANION:  Approx. 10 years / Approx. 18 lbs.     Hi, my name’s Rusty!  I lost my life-long home when my previous owner experienced medical issues and needed to go to assisted living.  I was sad about that, but fortunately, Mostly Mutts has been able to take me in and I’m in a great foster home while I wait to find my new family that is looking for a constant sweet companion.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I like the dogs I have met in my previous home, and I like the older chihuahua in my foster home – sharing our people and walking nicely with her on our daily walks (even slowing down to wait on her as she’s a bit slower than me!), so if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet! / I lived with five cats in my previous home, so if you have a dog-friendly kitty, let’s meet! / I liked children I met in my previous home, but I don’t remember their ages. Since I have been known to nip if startled or accidentally hurt, it’s best the children in my new home be older kids (age 15+), and - of course, let’s meet!     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet boy who - though initially nervous in new environments, I’ve been going to lots of places with my foster family and I’m doing well – in fact they take me everywhere with them. I often find a lap to jump in where I’m super happy as I’m a true lap dog!  I’ll even settle in and lean back, as if asking you to hold me like a baby – so loving!  I’m used to having my person with me all the time, so a stay-at-home family member is a must for me.  A true ‘velco dog’, I just want to be involved in whatever you are doing! You want to watch TV? Great, I’ll sit with you on the couch. You need to work at a desk? I’ll be in the dog bed on the floor in your office.  You cooking? I’ll help! You get the idea? I’m a great constant companion.  I have been a bit protective of my home, barking at strangers and sometimes nipping at the back of their leg when they turn away.  My foster is working on this with me now and I don’t do it in public, just in my home.  I get very anxious when left alone, and will bark and howl in protest, though I’m not destructive, but I should not live in an apartment or town home type home.  / My energy level is 4 - 6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  My foster and previous owner agree that I am a smart boy, so my foster enrolled me in Mostly Mutts’ Adult Basic Training classes where I recently received my certificate of completion for Mostly Mutts basic obedience.  This means, I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘down’, and ‘stay’ commands and how to ‘wait’ before entering and exiting doors. I also have good leash-walking manners, only pulling momentarily in new areas if something makes me nervous. / I sleep through the night in a crate near my foster’s bed with no issues.  In my former home, I slept with my owner, so – if allowed – I’d like to snuggle in with you at night, too. / My potty manners are great in my foster home, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too!  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  A real people dog, I enjoy going for walks with my family, as well as hanging out with them in a fenced yard.  I also love napping on or next to them and being with people all the time. I enjoy playing with squeaky toys and balls with my person.  Collecting all the cuddles is my favorite pastime! / I don’t like being left alone and will bark and howl in protest.  I also am not a fan of that confusing, pesky iRobot vacuum cleaner, so I bark at it – though I’m getting more used to it with time.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have a couple old man lumps and bumps that don’t bother me, and I hope you won’t mind either.  I had a slightly elevated liver level, so I’m on a supplement to help keep it stable.  Mostly Mutts tested my liver levels in June, and they are stable with the supplement, so I should just stay on this supplement for life.  I have started having some eye tremors intermittently and am on medication for that to see if it will help. I’ve also started a medicine for my separation anxiety and CBD oil, to see if it will help when I’m alone.  I’m looking for a home where I will be a much-loved family member where I can be with my family a lot. My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  July 5, 2024, 9:04 pm
