She’s approx 65lbs and she sat in a high kill shelter (along with Sterling who is also available for adoption) for a month before we pulled her. Unfortunately Penelope is the result of backyard breeders being greedy and dumping her when no longer needed. Shelter notes stated that she was pregnant when surrendered and birthed all 9 puppies within shelter walls only to have them euthanized due to lack of space. Despite the grief she’s been through, Penelope’s kindness shows through. She is accepting of meeting new people with a gentle demeanor however will need slow introductions with new dogs. Her ideal family will be understanding of Penelope’s journey and create a safe haven of space for her. They’ll be patient of introductions to new surroundings, take her on walks and celebrate her small victories as she builds more confidence and learns to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Adoption fees vary based on age, breed, size and the costs incurred on the dog's behalf by us i.e. medical, behavioral training, etc. Puppies are not house-trained although they may have begun crate-training and/or potty pad training in their foster home, depending on their age. House-training is a process that will need to be completed by their adopter. Puppies, if left unsupervised and not redirected will develop negative behaviors such as using the restroom in the wrong place, chewing, barking, whining, etc. Please be sure to do research on raising a puppy and be sure that you are prepared to do so.
