Story
My name is Henry. They really don't know my breed but I have a long snout and can possibly have some doberman or shepherd in me along with a little hound dog. You can do a DNA test for fun but just love me for whatever I am. I enjoy my foster mom taking me on walks. I know "sit command" and am eager to learn. I am good with other dogs and even those silly cats. I am house and crate trained. I would do great in an active family as my foster family has taken me kayaking. I"m not the life of the party but I want to be invited. I like playing fetch and want to know there my ball is. My foster mom says that I am pretty goofy. I also talk time out of my busy day to watch the hummingbirds and enjoy snuggle time. I'll make a great dog for your family. Do you want to adopt me?

Story
Goose is a brown & tan Doberman mixed-breed puppy who was transferred to our shelter after being found as a stray. He is probably the happiest-go-luckiest little guy you will ever meet! Goose loves to be included and will give you lots of puppy loving for just looking his way! Since he was found as a stray, we do not yet know if he gets along with cats or other dogs. We do know that he did have a fractured femur, as well as a rupture of his CCL (knee). The knee was repaired surgically, but the rest healed due to cage rest. As a result, Goose will always have a slight limp because his leg is now a bit shorter. What he lacks in bone material he more than makes up for with his big personality. He will require a medical consult with our veterinarian before he can go home. He currently weighs about 35 Pounds (8/29/24) and his date of birth is 10/15/23. Come meet Goose! Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. Every pet available for adoption is current on shots spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

Story
Hi, my name is Fury! But I'm more like a happy, gentle breeze that wants to have fun! You might recognize my name from the famous character Director Nick Fury of the Marvel movies, I'm kinda like him: I love being the center of attention and don't like it when people take my stuff! I am a big dog! With my mixed Doberman Pinscher/Black Labrador genes I am a whopping 52#/lbs and have a ton of energy and muscle that needs to be worked! Because of this it would be best if I was paired with an active family who knows how to keep a dog mentally stimulated and respects my boundaries well. No apartment living for me please! No cats or small children either! My caretakers have learned some important things about me: I am a chow-hound and will try to eat anything I can get my hands on! So please leave food out of reach from me or I'll swoop it all up. Secondly, I would prefer if people didn't grab things that I have in my mouth, it's mine not yours hehe! Overall, I am a big-hearted dog who wants to go play, be adventurous, have fun with other people and dogs! I am however not such a big fan of car rides, they make my tummy feel sick eww! I love all people and dogs, am a healthy, happy boy and just want to find my home. Let's work together and find it!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Pacer, a black and tan Miniature Pinscher, about 4.5 years old on 5/19/24, was rescued 2 years ago. He was morbidly obese and appeared to be in a catatonic state when we got him. He was so terrified that he completely shut down and moved so little that we were concerned that he wasn’t even breathing. We took him to the vet to bring him up to date on vaccinations, but decided to wait until he was less terrified before we put him through the trauma of being neutered. He was neutered and vaccinations updated on 5/31/24. Pacer, unfortunately, tested positive for heartworms and is on the slow kill, doxycycline protocol. Pacer will do best in a quiet home with an experienced dog owner. He has come a long way in learning to trust humans, but he still fearful. Due to his fearfulness, he will not be considered for homes with young children and he will only be considered for homes that have a securely fenced yard. He currently weighs about 15 pounds which is a good weight for him. His adoption donation is $250 If you would like to give Pacer the loving home he deserves and help him develop into the confident little guy he can become, please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. href="http://dhd.coffeecup.com/forms/bhsapp/">You can find a copy of that application here. Please remember our organization is staffed completely by volunteers. Please Note: All applications are processed in the order received, but an adoption is made to the best application received for each of our animals. All applicants must provide a vet reference on the adoption application. If you are adopting a dog from ARFA, a fenced in yard for the dog will be required. Home visits often occur with each adoption. ARFA has the right to deny adoption to any applicant for any reason without explanation. Please remember that the adoption donation is not for the purchase of the dog, but rather to help cover the medical costs of all dogs in our care. THE FINE PRINT 1. Animal Rescue Fund Arkansas reserves the right to deny any application, for any reason without explanation to the applicant. 2. You understand that we often take many applications on the same animal and that they are processed in the order that they come in. An application is in no way a reservation for any animal or a guarantee that you will be selected to adopt the animal. 3. If your application Is approved, you will be asked to sign a separate adoption contract. 4. Once the trial period is over, usually 1 week unless there are special circumstances, the adoption donation cannot be returned to you for any reason. It will have been used to help rescue another homeless animal and is no longer available therefore, if you return the dog to us for any reason, you will not be refunded your donation. Please remember that if you no longer want the dog, it must be returned to A.R.F.A. 5. If the animal you want to adopt is placed in another home, you can transfer your application to another A.R.F.A. animal without completing additional paperwork. 6. You understand that this is a rescued pet. We rarely have any information about their past life circumstances. We have all animals examined by a vet, brought up to date on shots, given their rabies vaccine, spayed/neutered (If old enough), wormed and checked for heartworms and if positive begin treatment. We do our best to ensure that we are placing healthy pets but can make no guarantee to the health or temperament of this pet, and vet expenses are the responsibility of the adoptive family from the date of the adoption. We require that you take the pet to a vet within one week of adoption for a check-up and to allow your vet to get a baseline for your new pet’s health He does not know how to walk well with a harness and leash but he is learning! Tom has a vet appointment on July 23 and will be brought up to date on vaccinations and heartworm tested. Tom's adoption donation is $250. If you are interested in this awesome guy, please fill out an online application, the first step in this process as we want to be sure he goes to a loving and responsible home. You can find a copy of that application here. An application does not obligate you to take him, but it does show that you are serious about the process. Please remember our organization is staffed completely by volunteers.
