*** Courtesy Post***   Pumpkin is a total love bug! He loves to play fetch, get pets from people and go on adventures with his family. He is a sweet 1-year-old, who, with a bit of training, will be an excellent family dog. Pumpkin gets along with all adults and he is child-friendly having lived with kids before. Pumpkin will do fine with another dog but will need a slow introduction period. Pumpkin is neutered, and up to date on vaccines.  His adoption fee of $250 helps offset the cost of his medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think Pumpkin could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application* at: Application      *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool   used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up. November 18, 2024, 12:21 pm

Story
Sweet, Goofy Dog Looking for a Loving Home I’m heartbroken to rehome my sweet girl. She came from a shelter in Los Angeles, and I adopted her hoping to give her the life she deserves. Unfortunately, I’ve fallen on hard times and can no longer provide that for her. She is a loving, goofy dog who adores walks, playing in the backyard, birdwatching, and sunbathing. She does pull on the leash but improves with a Herm Sprenger collar, positive reinforcement, and consistency. She has an old, unhealed back leg injury that gives her a limp, but it doesn’t slow her down—she loves to run and play! She’s handler-focused, eager to please, and will do anything for a treat. Though she may be older, she loves learning and is deeply loyal. She needs a patient, understanding home that will love her as much as she loves in return. If you can provide her the life she deserves, please reach out.

Hi, I`m Sky!I`m a gentle pup looking for my furever home! I can be a little timid at first, but once I get to know you I`ll show you how sweet and loving I am! Training me will be a breeze since I already have some in-home experience! Make sure to bring in any potential doggy siblings to meet me to ensure a great fit! Story
Howdy there! My name is Penny and I can be described as being a dog with hints of Doberman Pincher. I get along with my kennel mates and dogs in other play groups. I can be a bit timid at first, but with time I have shown that I can be an energetic dog. I would benefit from a family that would teach me how to do all the cool tricks I see dogs on TV doing, or as a hiking buddy, or even as both. I was a bit underweight when I first came in, now I eat snacks like a champ, I promise I`m not a picky eater. Come visit me at HALO today if I sound like the dog for you.

Story
Rafiki is a special 4 year old Doberman. She has Megaesophagus, which means food has difficulty getting from her mouth to her stomach. Rafi will need to eat upright for the rest of her life, ideally in a Bailey chair. She is able to drink normally without the chair. For treats, she uses a Lickety Stik. She will require equally as special parents, dedicated to her feeding needs. This sweetheart has a ton of puppy energy, and plays just like a normal Doberman. She will need activity and structure like any youngster. Gentle and playful, Rafiki does well with other large and medium dogs. She also loves youngsters and is eligible for adoption to families with children. Rafiki loves to camp, hike, and adventure with her foster family. She attends local vet schools to teach them about her special needs, and is a local celebrity. Rafiki has even attended a camp for special needs children. Photos by #dhdrron of #dhdrRafiki (use the hashtags to see more Instagram photos!) Rafiki is available for adoption, to the right family, anywhere in the US. You can learn more about  Megaesophagus (sometimes called Mega-e or ME) here: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/megaesophagus We are currently investigating an innovative surgery that may allow Rafiki to eat outside of a chair. DHDR will be providing a custom Bailey chair to Rafiki’s adopter. If you are just the right fit for Rafi or want to talk about her further, email Contact@azdoberescue.org.

Story
We adopted Razzberry or Razz and his brother Mango (also looking to rehome) in January 2024.They were both as expected, full of energy and playing all day till they both took long naps. As they grew we house broke them pretty efficiently and have not had a accident in the house since. We started doing some beginner training and Razz was soaking it all up. He caught on extremely quick and we started to notice daily how smart he actually was. Every "puzzle" toy we would buy would be solved by him within 10 minutes, he was learning extremely quickly and was always so curious. Razz is now 11 months old and is extremely athletic and would prefer to be outdoors running all day if he could. The new home we are looking for is a home that will train him thoroughly to engage his keen mind and take him on outdoor adventures often. I believe that with the proper training, Razz can be an incredible protector of your home while also adding a brightness to your home.
