Story
Hi, I'm Rocky!  Im 2.5 year old male and I am a pretty cool dude. I am currently in foster with 5 other dogs, 4 of them Dobermans. I love to play and romp with my foster sister Callie. However, If its just me, or the older Dobermans do not want to play, I am pretty content to get some rubs and sniff and explore. I am a big boy so would be best matched with another larger dog similar to my size. I love a good cuddle and have the Doberman lean down pat. I walk nicely on leash with a Halti (head harness)  but when I do want to get to something faster than my human, I do pull. I can be reactive on leash at times. More often than not with some distance between another oncoming dog, I can walk past curious and interested or my foster mom will have me in a 'sit' 'stay' command and when she says 'look' and I give her eye contact, I get a treat. I love being off leash and I have had great recall so far, however I do have a bit of a prey drive when I am off leash on a hiking trail. So far, motor dirt bikes, wild chickens, deer, and wild rabbits have been my foster moms arch nemisis.  I recently attended a two week dog hiking and boarding boot camp while in care while my foster mom travelled. I loved exploring new off leash trails, riding in the truck with all my pack buddies, and snoozing on the sofa with my doggy friends at the end of the day. I love a good squeaky toy and bones to chew on, stuffed toys however have met their match! If I am bored and left to my own devices, I do get destructive in the house and will find a shoe, bag, or household item to chew.  Until I learn the rules of my new home and have an outlet of appropriate dog friendly items to chew and play with I am crated if I am left alone. I am well crate trained and love running into my crate for a treat, breakfast and dinner, and chill time.  My foster mom does not think I was asked or taught much in my previous life as I'm a bit clueness to start when she asks something of me. I love to learn new commands though and am very proud of myself when I catch on. It brings her a lot of joy when the 'light bulb' moments happen during my training. I know 'heel' 'shake a paw' 'down' 'spin' 'crate time' 'look' 'wait' and 'sit' 'come' and I know to sit before the leash goes on. My previous home I had minimal exposure to kids and in foster I have not either. I would be best suited in a home with kids 10 and up as I am a big boy and am still pretty bouncy.  I am a champ at the vet! The more attention on me and chances for treats the better! I am currently on a diet and exercise plan as I came into care a bit on the heavier side. I LOOVE treats and food so my foster  mom is encorporating my meals into training times. I am currently on a low protien calorie diet of Salmon. I was recently tested for allergies and I am allergic to Beef, Lamb and Kangaroo. I came into care with skin issues and ear infections but since coming into care and changing my diet my hair has started to grow back and my belly rash has dissapeared. My vet says that I can take an Apoquel pill or a 1-3 month Cytopoint allergy injection on a need be basis if I have any future flair ups.  Rocky is currently on Vancouver Island, but can travel to Vancouver and surrounding areas.  Rocky will come neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods including, but not limited to, leash corrections, pinning, alpha rolls, etc. Apply to adopt Rocky by submitting our adoption application at https://adoptadobe.com/adoption-application/. All adoptions require a home visit or Zoom walk thru prior to finalization.  ##2228691##

Story
🐾 Hi there, I’m Tina! 🐶 🎀 About Me: • Name: Tina • Age: 4 years young • Sex: Female • Breed: Doberman mix • Color: Sleek black • Weight: A fit 22 kg 🏡 My Rescue Story: Once upon a time, I was tied up in a village and my owner moved away without me. The villagers didn’t understand how special I am, but thankfully, a kind soul saw my worth and saved me from a grim fate. Now, I’m looking for a forever home where I can share all the love I have to give. 💖 My Personality: • I’m a total lovebug! I adore cuddles and will rub against you like a little shadow. Whether we’ve just met or known each other for ages, I’m all about showing affection. • Belly rubs? Yes, please! I’ll show you my tummy as a sign of trust and friendship. • I’m a bit of a social butterfly with humans, but I need a slow introduction to other dogs. I’m learning that sharing is caring, especially when it comes to toys and treats. • Cats intrigue me, but I’m a good girl and will keep walking if you lead the way. • I love a good adventure outdoors, but I’m also content to chill out at home after some fun in the sun. • I’m learning to walk nicely on a leash, but sometimes I get a little excited. I promise I’m getting better every day! • I’m not food aggressive with my human friends, but I prefer to dine alone without other dogs cramping my style. • I’m potty trained and do my business outside like a champ. 🐕 My Social Skills: • I’m still a pup at heart when it comes to playtime! I haven’t had much experience with other doggos, so I get super excited and sometimes don’t know my own strength and can be a bit aggresive. 🐾 • I’m like a shadow to my walker, following faithfully even when other furry friends are around. 🚶‍♀️ • Dog parks with lots of pups are a bit overwhelming for me, so I prefer quiet walks where I can be the center of your world. 🌎 🐾 Looking for a Human: I’m searching for someone who loves snuggles as much as I do, enjoys leisurely walks, and appreciates a quiet evening at home. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to share your life with, I’m your girl! If you think we could be a match made in heaven, let’s meet and sniff each other out! 🐾💕 Paws and kisses, Tina

Meet Nyx! Breed: Doberman Age: 5 years Location: Red Deer, AB Personality: Sweet, playful, curious, independent and obedient Likes: Comfortable dog bed, balling up blankets to make a pillow, bacon Benebone Y bones, FETCH (but best as a solo activity, as she can get a little intense), children Dislikes: Flooring transitions, inside stairs, being an only dog. Nyx can be SELECTIVE with other dogs Ideal Home: Experienced owner. Active home who will play fetch with her, take her on walks/runs, and work her brain. She did not like being alone for long periods of time in a previous home, so someone who works from home would be ideal, although she has been fine left with another well-matched dog ‍‍‍ Family: Gentle and protective of children, would prefer a home with a confident male large-breed dog, no cats or small animals as she has a high prey drive Health: She is on a non-prescription thyroid supplement, so suggest continuing this and intermittently testing thyroid levels. Her canine teeth are also ground down from chewing tennis balls.  Adoption Fee: $500 Nyx has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods including, but not limited to, leash corrections, pinning, alpha rolls, etc. Apply to adopt Nyx by submitting our adoption application at https://adoptadobe.com/adoption-application/. All adoptions require a home visit prior to finalization. Donate to Nyx’s care at https://adoptadobe.com/donate/. ##1548280##

COURTESY POST on behalf of owners, located in the Calgary area.  To apply for Maeby, please submit an application at adoptadobe.com/adoption-application. All applications for Maeby will be forwarded to her owners for follow up. Maeby’s adoption fee is a minimum $100 donation to Adopt-a-Dobe.    Per Maeby’s owners: Maeby is an almost three year old fixed female dobe with a heart way bigger than her anxiety. She came to us at 6 weeks old after her mama had to have an emergency hysterectomy due to a postpartum infection. She was an affectionate yet nervous puppers from day one. We immediately started working with trainers and dog daycares/walkers to try to get the tools we needed and the socialization she needed. She was asked to not return to two daycares due to her anxiety and two trainers made only minimal headway.  Her anxiety increased as time passed and she began to break out of kennels when home alone and chewed several walls waiting for us to come home. We could no longer take her around other dogs, as she was immediately reactive when with our family.  She was nervous around anyone outside of our family and had growled at our children’s friends. We finally connected with the right trainer and in combination with anxiety medication, Maeby was able to make some great progress in terms of greeting adults, walking on a leash, and recall. We then connected with a local small daycare and dog walking company who worked with Maeby to introduce her to other dogs and she now has a group of dogs she is comfortable playing with. Maeby began to be able to spend the day outside of her kennel at home without engaging in any destructive behaviours and  was literally smiling when greeting and welcoming adult guests into our home. We felt we were finally on a good path with her and the vet recommended weaning her off her medication, as it was always intended as a short term measure. She continued to demonstrate stability and progress. Unfortunately, despite never having had any issues with our children in the past, she recently bit our 6 year old daughter when our daughter approached her to pet her. We don’t know why Maeby reacted this way and are truly heartbroken at the position we are in as a result. Although the bite did not break the skin and as much as we love Maeby and are so proud of the progress she has made over the past 3 years, we do not feel we are in a position to address this particular behaviour with two children in our home. We believe she is capable of continuing to overcome challenges as she has proven herself to be and believe she would thrive in a household with no children. We are happy to pass on the name of her daycare so they can continue to work with her and you on dog socialization. We truly want what is best for Maeby and are hopeful we can find this beautiful, affectionate girl a loving home where she can be comfortable. Maeby’s favourite things include being with her family, soaking in any attention that comes her way, running along side a skateboard, playing at private off leash parks and staring into the depths of your soul. She’ll sleep in as late (or later) than you on the weekends and loves full body cuddles in bed. ##2131528##

Story
Hi, I’m Atilla (but you can call me Tilly!) I’ve been waiting a while for my forever family, and I think it’s finally time we meet! I’m a 2-year-old, neutered Doberman, and at 85 lbs, I’ve got a big heart full of love just waiting to be shared. I’ve been told I’m pretty handsome too—just wait until you see me! Now, let me tell you a bit about myself. I’m one smart cookie! I’ve learned my basic commands, and I’ve even dabbled in scent work and button training. Lately, I’ve been working on putting my toys away after playtime (I think I deserve extra treats for that one, don’t you?). I also enjoy canicross—if you’re looking for a jogging buddy, I’m working on being your perfect match! I love using my brain, and I’m always up for learning new things, so I hope my future family enjoys training and fun activities. Don’t let my active side fool you—I’ve got a soft, snuggly side too. Once I’ve had my playtime and exercise, I’m all about the cuddles. I love being close to my people and will happily curl up beside you for some cozy downtime. I am currently free-roaming when my foster Mum isn't home and that's worked for us - the crate gives me some anxiety, but I'm a very good boy on the couch.   I do have a few things I’m working on, though. I take prozac because I’m reactive to other dogs, and sometimes I get a little too excited on walks. So, I’d love a home with a fenced yard where I can run and play safely without having to worry about other dogs. Because of my reactivity, I need to be the only pet in the house, and I’d prefer a home without young children. I know I’ll thrive in a calm, predictable environment where I can be the center of attention—just me and my people.I’ve been waiting for over a year to find my perfect match, and I know my special family is out there. If you’re looking for a loyal, clever, and loving companion, I’m ready to fill that role and more. Could you be the one to give me the forever home I’ve been dreaming of? I'll be waiting to hear from you! With love (and a few tricks up my paw),  Tilly. Atilla has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $500. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods including, but not limited to, leash corrections, pinning, alpha rolls, etc. Apply to adopt Atilla by submitting our adoption application at https://adoptadobe.com/adoption-application/.
