Story
Welcome Gracie to CCPAL Foster Program. Gracie is 1.5 years of age and she is a Dachshund dog. She is what we call a high mixed dog. She weighs 11 pounds. She is the momma dog for the pups we are now finding homes for. She is good on a leash, good in a car and potty trained. She is very sweet and as most Dachshunds, she is loyal and a good lap dog. She is getting her vaccines here at the Rescue and will be spayed and ready for her forever home. She would be fine in a home with children. We always like the children to be 10 or older with small dogs. She would need a fenced yard if let outside off leash. She would be fine with a smaller yard. She won’t need mounds of exercise to be happy. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful adopters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. We don’t adopt to Rhode Island or to adopters from Massachusetts due to the regulations in these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 if you have any questions. Please go to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com with questions. You can get an application online at www.ccpalrescue.org

Story
Quick Facts Name: Dodgers Birthday: 4 years old   Gender: Male Neutered/Sprayed: Yes Breed: Dachshund Color: Black  Weight: 4.8kg  All About Me Dodgers is a four-year-old male Dachshund weighing 4.8kg. He was rescued after being neglected by a temporary caregiver when his original owner fell ill. Due to poor care, he was severely underweight, suffered from fungal skin issues, and experienced frequent digestive problems. Thankfully, his condition has greatly improved—his skin is under observation, his digestion has stabilized, and he is on a healthy weight-gain plan. He has completed all vaccinations and recently tested negative for heartworm on February 11, 2025. Personality and Social Skills Dodgers is an affectionate and loving companion. He enjoys being around people, quickly warms up to strangers, and happily seeks attention. He allows handling, can be picked up easily, and even offers his belly for rubs. He thrives on human affection and often rests his head on his person’s shoulder when being held. With other dogs, he is polite and will approach them for greetings, but he does not engage in active play. His response to cats is unknown, as he has not been tested. Energy and Activities Dodgers has a moderate energy level. He enjoys outdoor activities but is also content resting after exercise. He walks well on a leash without pulling and follows his handler closely. While he loves going out, he equally enjoys being held and cuddled. Training and Habits Dodgers is well-mannered and does not exhibit resource guarding, whether with people or other dogs. He rarely barks and remains calm when placed in a kennel. He is fully house-trained and can use both indoor pads and outdoor spaces for potty breaks. Ideal Home Dodgers would thrive in a home where he receives plenty of affection and companionship. He is a true lap dog who enjoys being close to people, making him an excellent choice for someone looking for a loving and devoted companion. A family that can provide both outdoor activities and cozy cuddle time would be ideal. Special Notes Dodgers has a raspy voice that sounds similar to a dog that has undergone vocal cord surgery, though he has not had one. Despite his past neglect, he remains deeply affectionate and trusting. He was once cherished by his original owner, and with proper care, he is returning to full health. Dodgers is a sweet, gentle, and people-loving dog looking for a home where he will be showered with the love and care he deserves. If you’re looking for a devoted lap dog with a loving heart, he may be the perfect match for you. ##2303908##

Story
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but after a lot of reflection, I’ve realized that I’m not the best fit for Winston, and they deserve a home that can give them everything they need. This isn’t a decision I’m making lightly. I want to find him a forever home where they will be truly cherished, where they will have the care, attention, and space to thrive. If you or someone you know would be a great fit, please reach out. My heart hurts, but I know the most loving thing I can do is put their needs first. About this sweet boy: Winston loves long walks, frozen kong treats, pig ears, and anything that tastes remotely like peanut butter. He is the best snuggle buddy and loves looking out the window in his free time. He loves to play with other dogs at the dog park but can be a bit shy with bigger dogs. He is crate trained and potty trained. He does have some separation anxiety so someone with experience with this would be preferred, as well as his breed in general.
