Story
Are you looking for 'the one'? Well then look no further! Meet Uni, the 5-year-old, 20-lb Dachshund currently searching for her forever family! Uni is a super sweet girl. She loves nothing more than to spend the day hanging out with her foster dog and cat siblings. She is a bit shy around people and will need some time to warm up to her new family, but once she is used to you, she guarantees she will love you forever. Uni likes humans but does prefer the company of dogs and will need to go to a home where she can find a new dog sibling to love on. The best of Uni's personality shines when she has a sibling! Uni loves a comfy bed, and is okay to relax all day, if that's cool with you. Uni is also a wannabe playful girl. She doesn't quite understand the concept of toys, but she loves the idea of them and is very eager to learn how to have fun. She seems to enjoy stuffed toys for now. Uni would also love the idea of running around in a fenced-in yard. She can be flighty, so she will need to be on a leash whenever there is no fence, but she just really loves to run around on the grass. Uni is crate trained, and she is working on leash training and potty training. Uni will need continued leash and potty training, but she is normally very good in both situations. Uni is by no means perfect at potty training, but she does respond well to pee pads and has never made a mess in her crate! As for leash training, Uni is just a free-spirit who prefers to not be tamed. She is okay on a leash, but it doesn't mean she'll go the way you want to go. Uni can be picky and is on weight loss food mixture. Due to her breed's disposition to back issues, and the risk of IVDD, it is essential that Uni lose a bit of weight, so continued weight management is ideal. Uni may be picky, but she is a connoisseur of treats. She is very easy to please with peanut butter, soft dog treats, and goodies that smell of salmon! If you are looking for a dog that is a good balance of relaxed and sweet, then look no further! Uni is ready to find her family and prove to them that she can be the 'bestest' dog ever! Uni is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
