Story
Meet BOWIE, a sweet older gentleman looking for a home. Bowie is 9ish years old and tips the scales at about 10 pounds. He's an affectionate boy who loves to cuddle. Bowie landed in a rural shelter with a mouth that was such a hot mess we were afraid he was going to die. His teeth were rotten and infected and he had some nasal fistulas. Without immediate attention, he was a goner, unable to eat or drink. Bowie is now a toothless boy, but he can eat and drink just fine thank you very much. Now all he needs is a loving home. Bowie would be a perfect companion for a retiree. If you'd like to meet Bowie, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Bowie at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate if he's still available. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Story
Attention Dachshund lovers! Meet WENDY, a darling young girl looking for a home. Wendy is about 18 months old and is an itty bitty girl, currently 8ish pounds but a little too thin, she should remain in the "miniature dachshund" category, under 11 pounds, at a healthy weight . Wendy is an absolute sweetheart who loves everyone. She is a playful gal who would love to find a home with another small playful dog. Despite her youth, she's already given birth to puppies. Her breeding days are over, now it's time for her to be a treasured family member. Given her tiny size, she must go to a home with no small kids or big dogs. Adopting a small young dog can be a 12-14 year (or more!) commitment. She needs a home for the rest of her life, not until you have kids, change jobs, move, etc. If you'd like to meet Wendy, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. Additionally, Wendy MAY need a foster home for a few days starting Thursday, so if you'd like to foster her please fill out a foster application on our website. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Sadie – The Sweetest Sidekick You’ll Ever Meet Sadie may be the twin of her brother Sterling in looks, but she brings her own gentle magic to the mix. With her soft smile and go-with-the-flow nature, Sadie is the kind of pup who quietly wins your heart. She was rescued alongside her six siblings after being abandoned in a trailer park, and she’s been blossoming more every day. She’s not one to take the lead, but she’s a loyal little follower who loves being part of the pack—whether that pack includes people, dogs, or both. Sadie’s easygoing spirit makes her a great companion for just about any home. She doesn’t demand attention but happily soaks it in, always ready to tag along with whatever you’re doing. Sadie is joy in puppy form—gentle, loving, and always smiling. If you’re looking for a mellow best friend who will walk beside you with trust and warmth, Sadie is your girl. Sammy, Sadie, Sandy, Sylvie, Solo, Sonny and Sterling.  ~ How Can They All Be Siblings? Believe it or not, it’s totally possible! A female dog can be bred by more than one male during her heat cycle, meaning a single litter can have multiple fathers. That’s why this adorable group of siblings looks so different—some with long coats, some short, some with dachshund legs, and others with terrier scruff or shepherd markings. Based on their appearance, this litter could have a mix of Dachshund, Boston Terrier, Pug, Miniature Australian Shepherd, Vizsla, Cairn Terrier… and who knows what else! One thing’s for sure—they’re all 100% sweet, 100% unique, and ready for forever homes.         Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at...diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744.   Please email us at  diane@ulpr.org  and request an application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 7, 2025, 3:49 pm

Story
From his Foster: Archie is a rust-colored, short-haired terrier mix, medium sized and about 22 pounds. He’s had a rough start in the first year of his life, but in spite of that, he wants nothing more than to be with people that can demonstrate love and kindness and show him what it means to be safe. He seems to be housebroken and gets along well with other dogs. It doesn’t seem he started life with people that spent much time with him or taught him basic commands. But he learns quickly and wants to please. He loves being outside on walks, has no problems with a leash and walks well with his person considering it’s all a new experience. When he’s not out walking, his next favorite activity is curling up in the lap of his person for pets and a nice nap. Archie would do best in a home with a patient owner that has the time to bring out the best in him. A fenced yard would be ideal, but if not, an owner that’d be committed to walking him 3-4 times per day would do Archie wonders. Other dogs would be a big help in showing him the ropes and teaching him how to be the most confident dog he can be. Archie is a kind, loving and super-sweet boy that has a ton of potential. He’s just waiting for that special person to help him realize it.

Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.
