She’s doing amazing and making great progress on her journey to find her forever home. **Chewing Improvement**: We’re still working on the chewing, but she’s adjusting well to her chew toys. **Potty Progress**: Nelly is going in and out to potty regularly, though she sometimes uses a puppy pad if she can't wait. **Yard Adventures**: While she’s still a bit hesitant to come back inside from the yard, she’s getting much better at going out by us! **Growing Affection**: Nelly has started to play more and loves coming up for cuddles when we’re sitting down. Meet Loretta, a ridiculously adorable 8-month old, 21-pound Dachshund/Terrier mix who loves being next to anyone and everyone. She is a true Velcro dog who is excited to see you every time you walk through the door. So be prepared to share your personal space with this romantic soul! An attention seeker, Loretta enjoys being the center of your universe. She is friendly and gets along well with humans and dogs alike…but a slow introduction is best when it comes to unfamiliar pooches. Once she gets to know a dog, she will play with them all day long. And playful, she is. Balls and chew toys are among her favorites. Loretta doesn’t like loud noises and can be a bit tentative at first, but once she feels safe and gets used to her surroundings, you see her fears just melt away. Loretta has a huge heart, she is super affectionate, and she loves with intensity. She is a beautiful soul in every conceivable way. Loretta is fully housebroken, she’s been perfecting her leash manners, and at home, she regards her crate as her safe space. Loretta sits on command and comes when you call her name. Afterwards, she was placed on the euthanasia list, so Adogs quickly rescued her. 3⃣ Basic Information * With People: Is scared and fearful of people. Still tends to get scared even with familiar people, but wags her tail and gets excited when she sees the person who takes her for walks. * With Dogs: Gets along with other dogs at our center with no issues. * Separation Anxiety: Unclear since she’s living communally at our center. * Potty Training: Not confirmed as she resides communally at our center. Is currently going potty outdoors at our center. * Walks: Is a well-behaved walker who enjoys being outside and does not pull on the leash. May initially feel a bit intimidated and sit down after a few steps to scan the surroundings. Once adjusted to the environment, she walks forward confidently. * Car Sickness: Had no problems and rested during short car rides. * Biting: May growl at times, but calmly accepts being touched. While the growling is a sign of being fearful of people, she has never shown any aggressive behavior, such as nipping or putting teeth on skin. * Bark: Is still afraid of people and growls out of fear when making eye contact with them. * Like: Likes going for walks.
