You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Did I catch your eye? Learn more about me by reading my profile below; I just might be your new best friend! Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule. Come and meet us at our adoption event at Chuck & Don's, Edina on 12/21 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm!   Age: Approximately 8-9 years old Weight: 20 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Meet Cannoli and Mousse, a charming bonded pair of longhaired dachshunds who grew up together in a loving home, but (due to their previous owners’ health challenges) are now seeking a forever family to love them both. • Mousse: An 8-year-old, blue-eyed, 13-pound sweetheart. Mousse can be shy and might dribble a bit if alarmed by loud noises or new situations, but he quickly follows his braver uncle Cannoli’s lead. His alopecia necessitates warm sweaters, but honestly this makes him even cuter! Despite missing most of his teeth, Mousse loves all kinds of food, almost-fetch, and racing around during outdoor time. • Cannoli: A 9-year-old, green-eyed, 17.5-pound beauty with a heartwarming personality. Although opinionated about food and weather, he’ll eventually do anything his humans ask of him, and he loves nothing more than napping on top of his people. Calmer than his nephew Mousse, Cannoli nevertheless enjoys brisk walks and seems quite perceptive, clearly understanding more than basic commands. Mousse often steals the show, but Cannoli ends up stealing hearts. Both dogs are well-behaved, potty on command, and crate very well (though they happily sleep in their humans’ bed when allowed). They get along great with other dogs and cats, and they turn heads on the street with their adorable looks and loving personalities. Give this delightful doxie duo a chance to fill your home with love and joy! Adoption Fee: $795 *for both*  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxWalter is a goofy and cuddly guy who wants to be near his people. He loves laying in the sun, going on walks, treats & toys and being under the covers.    Walter needs a fully fenced yard as he can be quite the escape artist. He likes to run for short bursts in the yard and find smells to roll in.  Walter gets along with his two resident dogs, but is still learning polite greetings with new dogs.   Walter is very curious, and needs someone who can be patient and reassure him. He is still working on leash training and is currently demonstrating some reactivity with other dogs. Based on the fosters observations we beleive that Walter may be hard of hearing.   Walter is left home with the resident dogs for a few hours at a time. He is known to be a snoop and counter surfer, so he is put in a room with our resident dog. He will settle when left with a doggy friend.    Walter picks up on patterns and routines quickly. He is not a quiet boy and will express his needs.   At this time, we do not how Walter does with kids or cats. Walter tends to be curious, cautious and skittish around new animals and meeting people outside the home.    Currently we are working on basic obedience and leash etiquette. Walter seems to have some reduced hearing and vision. We suspect it's genetic/congenital. He does not seem to be in any pain from it and we are working with MARS Vet to keep tabs on it. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks.   Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $250Winston AKA Marty is a senior dachshund mix, though he acts much younger than13. He was surrendered through no fault of his own and is a sweet, little guy who loves food, blankets, and cuddles. He’s incredibly curious, he spent many hours in his first few days with usexploring every nook and cranny he could get his long body into. He’s not a very good listener,he doesn’t respond to his name and only knows “sit.” His ears still work though; he’ll comerunning if he hears anything resembling a treat or food bag.Winston may appreciate being an only dog. In our home, we have a 10-year-old husky/shepherdmix who is incredibly calm, patient, and tolerant. They’re getting along ok, with some occasionalbarking and lunging, mostly by Winston. He’s very territorial around toys and food. Our dogisn’t very interested in toys in her senior years, but Winnie will growl and snap even when ahuman tries to touch or take away his toy. Much of this may be the stress of a new environmentand we’re working on desensitizing him with toys. He’s had one interaction with a young kidsince he’s been with us where he growled and barked. He has “small dog attitude.” He acts verytough and fierce when visitors come to the door. We don’t know if he’s ever been exposed tocats. He is crate trained, which is a safe spot for him.If you want to win this man’s heart, the answer is food. Treats, dog food, or human food, anything he thinks he can eat, he wants. He also occasionally eats poop, so you’ll need to keep aclose eye on him while on walks or potty breaks. He uses a slow feeder for his meals, though hisfood is still scarfed down in about a minute.Winston is very agile. He has no problems jumping up and down to furniture, and even“parkours” from the ottoman to the chair to the couch. He bravely leaps off tall human beds butuses a set of doggie stairs to get back up. He enjoys sitting on laps and cuddling under blankets. If you want him to settle down and take a nap, he needs to have a blanket, or he’ll get coldquickly. He’s had a few accidents in our home on the first two days, one we think was himmarking his territory. Winston has shown no interest in chewing or damaging furniture, shoes, etc. When he’s let outside, he doesn’t wander far. Winston would probably make a goodapartment dog.He loves walks but gets cold even with a coat during our Minnesota winter. He may prefer to bethe only pet in a house where his humans are home often. When you do leave him, he whimpersin his crate for just a few minutes. He’s content to nap all tucked in while someone works fromhome or make an appearance from your lap during zoom meetings. He would thrive with aconsistent routine. His surrendering family got him up at 6am every morning for potty andbreakfast, we’re trying to encourage him to wake up a bit later for us.It will ll take some patience and boundary setting, but this little guy is quite the lover and you’ll berewarded with lots of little dog snuggles. This dog is so “food motivated” that training should goquickly. He needs a warm, loving home for his final years, maybe that’s with you.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.
