Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sophia is a 7 year old, super cute mixture of what we guess is dachshund mixed with something that gives her a little taller legs, so maybe a mini Australian shepherd? She's beautiful but she is quite shy. She will need some time to warm up to you.and she will need a safe space to go when she's feeling overwhelmed. A crate or space under a piece of furniture will do, she isn't too picky! Sophia also has a very typical small dog issue, she needs to lose some weight. She's on a diet plan that's working, but still has some room for improvement. We are working on house training, and using the dog door with some success, but she will need some additional training.  Sophia currently lives with other small dogs and would do okay with another small, calm dog. Big dogs and children can be quite intimidating to her. She doesn't need much physical contact with people, but she loves your presence. She will follow you around the house and would prefer to at least be in the same room. Once she decides you're not so scary, she will hang out on the couch with you and enjoy getting pets and snuggles. Sophia is very sweet, but very timid. She will need someone with a lot of patience and that will allow her the space and time needed for big adjustments. If you are looking for a low maintenance dog and have a quiet home, Sophia must just be the dog for you! Sophia's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals to be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping pets altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. If you would like to meet Sophia please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, www.adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Missing 1 eye, glaucoma in the remaining eye, takes daily rx meds What would you call a Bassett Hound – Terrier cross?  A Barrier?  A Tassett?  Well, when you meet Ruby, you are going to call her WONDERFUL.  If you are looking for a dog to cuddle, and a dog to walk and a dog to entertain you and cheer you up when you are sad, then you are looking for Ruby.  She is a lap dog extraordinaire, good with kids, cats and other dogs, and full of love.  She is good on the leash (not super trained, but easy to walk) and enjoys a casual toddle around the neighborhood.  She is good in the car, and has been to her foster grandmother’s nursing home on several occasions, and always does really well there.  She can be hesitant with new people, but she does warm up quickly.  Ruby is spayed, house-broken, and up to date on all her shots.  She is missing an eye, as it was removed due to glaucoma, and she needs a prescription drop twice a day in her remaining eye, as well as twice a day thyroid medicine – but she takes her meds like a champ and it takes less than a minute to administer.        The only real problem with Ruby is that she is a bed hog.  Ruby, of course, wants to sleep on the bed with her person – but she wants to sleep perpendicular to you – so that she takes up 2/3rds of the available bed space.  You can turn her around, but you better move quick, because she naturally rotates back to center.  Once she’s down, she sleeps well and doesn’t move around.        Ruby needs an owner who has love (and bed space) to give.  Could that person be you?    Ruby's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, and current vaccinations/ prevention. Our adoption process includes a background check, home visit, and vet history check. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their pets altered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Story
If you're not looking for the most animated, joyful, goofy, and overall easy-natured short n' stout pup, then Sabino is NOT the one for you! Because all of the above is just what makes Sabino, Sabino! He adores frolicking with kids, cats, dogs, you name it; he is TRULY a dog that doesn't have a care in the world; in fact, we watched as he slowly gained the trust of a shyer, much larger dog, until they were running around like best buds. He is a social butterfly on all fronts, and when he's not spending his time doing that, he is JUST as happy to curl up on the sofa with those he loves for some good old-fashioned belly rubs. Sabino is estimated at around a year old, and he weighs somewhere around 20 pounds or so, he's honestly pretty petite! Okay, okay, is it obvious he's one of my favorites? It truly is just not often we get such a lovable, social, low-ridin' sweetheart! Sabino knows basic commands, is seemingly-crate-trained, and spending his time brushing up on house-training and all that comes with being the best addition to your home in his foster family!
