If you have ANY QUESTIONS or are truly interested in adopting any animal from PAW Animal Shelter Please, fillout an adoption application FIRST!   WE are a high intake No Kill Shelter ran by a staff of 4 and do not always have time to answer every question asked by so many. If you are a good fit for the animal you are interested in -we will call to speak with you, If we feel you are not a good fit , we will contact you about other pets that may be a good fit for your home. Many people are losing the opportunity to adopt the animal they want because they fail to put in an application and the pet was adopted before we could answer your email. .If you have applied for an animal in our facility and have not received a response within 7 days, PLEASE call or contact us again. Though we do our best in trying to answer all emails in a timely manner, sometimes things get away from us, get lost or misplaced. It is never our intention to ignore a request about an adoptable animal in our facility. Sandy Brown, Director, PAW Animal Shelter 319-372-2274 ##1484932##

These pups were born in a foster home. Sadly theor mother and her bestie were dumped at a vet clinic. Tbey are now ready for homes of their own!! All boys, fully vetted except rabies. Neutered, shots, wormed flea prevention and chipped!! They will need rabies by 6mo of age. The vet marked them as beagle mixes guessing just because of their color but we see alot if Doxi and maybe some rat terrier. They are little kitties. If you are ready to give a loving pup a forever family please reach out and get your application in!!

Zero Is about to be two years old. Hes an affectionate and friendly dog. He loves to play and run around. Knows basic commands and is potty trained. Kennel trained and is used to being kenneled when necessary. He would benefit from a home with a large fenced in yard where he can run freely.

Story
We are Flynn and Rider! Like thieves in the night we'll steal your heart. Flynn and Rider are absolutely gorgeous and active puppies looking for forever homes to finally call their own. Flynn is a bit more reserved than his brother but he still loves to go play. He'll come sit by your feet or even show you rocks he's found. He loves to snuggle and can be a bit quirky sometimes! Don't get Tangled in our cute-pie puppy eyes! Flynn's blazing a new trail of life, had Parvo and they were unsure if he was gonna make it. Now he's recovered and making the most of life! These pups have healthy appetites and will stop when full. Will graze later after activities. Their mom has short legs and longer body, pointy ears, narrow face. Might be corgi/dachshund mixes and be energetic little terrier dogs. They have cute, little, wobbly legs. Like to play, run, really good at getting them outside, commands to get them outside, go pee command. Eager to learn, observant, smart. Will need leash training most likely. Will walk on leash, don't pull, but are going through a chewing stage. Not a lot of experience with other dogs. Interested in playing with other dogs, look through door to see the other dogs. No experience with cats or children so please introduce them slowly. Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mister George is on the search for his forever home! He currently lives with other dogs and cats, he would especially love a dachshund savvy home preferably without any young children. George, like most dachshunds, could shed a few pounds but that does not stop him from living his best little life! This dude LOVES food, and we think it is safe to say that food is his biggest motivation. In fact, it is best to make sure your trash is securely closed because he is not scared to do a little dumpster diving for some table scraps. If he is not on the hunt for food, you may find him playing with toys, but to be more specific, he prefers the ones that squeak. George gets super excited for walks, however they are pretty short lived since his little legs can only travel so far before getting tired. After one of those short walks, George will certainly be ready for a nap! He loves to sleep, sometimes he sleeps so hard that he needs to be woken up by his human to go outside and use the potty. With a fuzzy bed or blanket, George will surely fall fast asleep no matter where he is.  George's adoption fee is $250 and includes having a recent dental with teeth extractions, neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their current animals altered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background and reference check, a vet history check, and a home visit. If you are interested in meeting or adopting George, please submit an adoption application for consideration on our website, adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sophia is a 7 year old, super cute mixture of what we guess is dachshund mixed with something that gives her a little taller legs, so maybe a mini Australian shepherd? She's beautiful but she is quite shy. She will need some time to warm up to you.and she will need a safe space to go when she's feeling overwhelmed. A crate or space under a piece of furniture will do, she isn't too picky! Sophia also has a very typical small dog issue, she needs to lose some weight. She's on a diet plan that's working, but still has some room for improvement. We are working on house training, and using the dog door with some success, but she will need some additional training.  Sophia currently lives with other small dogs and would do okay with another small, calm dog. Big dogs and children can be quite intimidating to her. She doesn't need much physical contact with people, but she loves your presence. She will follow you around the house and would prefer to at least be in the same room. Once she decides you're not so scary, she will hang out on the couch with you and enjoy getting pets and snuggles. Sophia is very sweet, but very timid. She will need someone with a lot of patience and that will allow her the space and time needed for big adjustments. If you are looking for a low maintenance dog and have a quiet home, Sophia must just be the dog for you! Sophia's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals to be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping pets altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit.
