Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sophia is a 7 year old, super cute mixture of what we guess is dachshund mixed with something that gives her a little taller legs, so maybe a mini Australian shepherd? She's beautiful but she is quite shy. She will need some time to warm up to you.and she will need a safe space to go when she's feeling overwhelmed. A crate or space under a piece of furniture will do, she isn't too picky! Sophia also has a very typical small dog issue, she needs to lose some weight. She's on a diet plan that's working, but still has some room for improvement. We are working on house training, and using the dog door with some success, but she will need some additional training.  Sophia currently lives with other small dogs and would do okay with another small, calm dog. Big dogs and children can be quite intimidating to her. She doesn't need much physical contact with people, but she loves your presence. She will follow you around the house and would prefer to at least be in the same room.  Sophia is very sweet, but very timid. She will need someone with a lot of patience and that will allow her the space and time needed for big adjustments. If you are looking for a low maintenance dog and have a quiet home, Sophia must just be the dog for you! Sophia's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals to be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping pets altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. If you would like to meet Sophia please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, www.adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 3, 2024, 11:13 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mister George is on the search for his forever home! He currently lives with other dogs and cats, he would especially love a dachshund savvy home preferably without any young children. George, like most dachshunds, could shed a few pounds but that does not stop him from living his best little life! This dude LOVES food, and we think it is safe to say that food is his biggest motivation. In fact, it is best to make sure your trash is securely closed because he is not scared to do a little dumpster diving for some table scraps. If he is not on the hunt for food, you may find him playing with toys, but to be more specific, he prefers the ones that squeak. George gets super excited for walks, however they are pretty short lived since his little legs can only travel so far before getting tired. After one of those short walks, George will certainly be ready for a nap! He loves to sleep, sometimes he sleeps so hard that he needs to be woken up by his human to go outside and use the potty. With a fuzzy bed or blanket, George will surely fall fast asleep no matter where he is.  George's adoption fee is $250 and includes having a recent dental with teeth extractions, neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their current animals altered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background and reference check, a vet history check, and a home visit. If you are interested in meeting or adopting George, please submit an adoption application for consideration on our website, adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 3, 2024, 11:13 am
