The Greek God, Hermes, was believed to be a mediator between the mortal world and the might gods of Mount Olympus! He was also associated with good fortune, charm, and merriment. Who better than our little bug, Hermes, fits the bill? Hermes comes to us from an active foster home with an adult couple, teen, four dogs and two cats. His foster family reports, “He is so… cute! We love him! He goes well on puppy pads and loves our other animals. He has the sweetest personality!”. Hermes is an affectionate little guy (6 lbs!) and is gentle, goofy, and intelligent. He likes chew toys, squeaky toys, fetch, and going places. He also loves running, playing bitey-mouth, and tug-o-war with the resident dogs. After all that play, this charming little dude is ready for some laptime and cuddling with his people on the couch, maybe to watch the Hercules movie where he might hear his name! Puppies are a lot of work and require a strong commitment to teaching them obedience, socializing with other dogs and people, playing with them and loving them to pieces. Being so young, Hermes would love to find a family who has the time and patience to raise a puppy; she has so much to learn! He'll need house training (currently using puppy pads spendidly), crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs - and especially puppies - attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and his human family. It’s lots of fun, too! If you're ready to make that awesome commitment to bring up Hermes, then fill out an application today! Wet puppy kisses and warm, good fortune, and furry snuggles are awaiting! Back story: Hermes was originally a Christmas gift (that she gave to herself – because why not?) for an older lady who lives alone. She made an effort to spend as much time as possible while providing him with attention, but she knew he wasn’t happy when she was gone. She also tripped over him a few times and recognized that sooner or later she was likely to fall. She made the difficult decision to speak to our Southern rescue about providing a better home for him. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not by breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
