Sonnie is the charming, independent gentleman of this bonded senior dachshund duo. At 13 pounds, he’s all personality, confident, friendly, and endlessly lovable. He enjoys affection on his own terms and is happiest lounging on soft pillows beside his beloved Roxie, often with calm music playing in the background. Sonnie is social and friendly with other dogs and seems to want to be everyone’s friend. He knows his name and responds well to commands like stay and come. When it’s time to go outside, Sonnie makes his needs very clear, he whines softly and heads straight to the door. Snow doesn’t bother him much, and he’ll proudly do his business even in the deepest drifts before deciding it’s time to go back inside. He’s a protective little guy too, when there’s a loud noise, Sonnie instinctively positions himself in front of Roxie. At bedtime, he happily goes into his crate (when Roxie goes first). Sonnie wears a belly band indoors due to marking behavior and does best with consistent routines. He also has a sensitive stomach, so maintaining the right diet is important for him. Donnie and Roxie are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They rely on each other for comfort and security and thrive as a team. She’s a quiet girl who rarely barks, but when she does, her surprisingly big voice makes her an excellent little watchdog! Originally from St. Thomas, Roxie prefers warmth over cold and snow. She has claimed the back of the sofa by a sunny window as her favorite spot for naps when she’s not seeking pets or reminding you it’s mealtime. She enjoys neighborhood walks, has made doggy friends along the way, and will politely let you know when she’s ready to head home. This sweet, young boy was found running the streets on his own. He had no collar and no microchip and no owner ever came forward to claim him. He is very friendly and very smart and only 13 pounds. We think he is close to a year old. He loves other dogs, cats kids, horses… He never meets a stranger. He will make a great addition to any family and would really love to have another playful fun dog around. FREDDIE – LONG HAIRED DACHSHUND (3 legged-tripod) This adorable little boy is a lap dog deluxe and he is looking for a new lap to keep warm. I know someone has to be looking for a little love bug like him to do just that. He is a VELCRO dog for sure, meaning he loves to be close to his human and he sticks right there with them, never getting too far away. Freddie has a super sweet personality and he is very good natured. He loves everyone that he meets and he gets along great with my other small dogs. He seems to like his surroundings more on the quiet side and he likes his dog buddies to be more on the easy going and gentle side as well. Unfortunately Freddie had a really bad day a while back when he was struck by a car. His back leg was shattered so badly that our only option was to amputate it and his tail. He has since learned to navigate on three legs and he’s doing great now! My wish for him is to be adopted by a wonderful family that will treat him like a prince and include him in their daily comings and goings. He is a long haired Dachshund but had to be sheared down before his surgery. He’ll be a lot cuter once his hair grows back out. Freddie is 2 years old, weighs 10 pounds, has been neutered, 4DX heartworm tested, microchipped, fecal tested, is current on all vaccinations, worming, heartworm and flea prevention. Because he is on the smaller side, no small kids. His adoption fee is $400. Freddie is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted he will be transported to his pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the Northeast area every week and his fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we can’t adopt directly to those states.

Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200.
