Miss Marley is a great combination of bursts of playfulness and zesty spunk, as well as quiet couch potato. She is a great size - weighing more than she looks due to her stubby legs and long body - but only 26lbs.  She is calm when meeting new dogs and is most comfortable meeting other dogs who are also calm and not overly interested or rambunctious and respect her personal bubble.  Once she has a foundation of understanding and trust with the dog (which could take a few meetings or days), her playful nature comes out and she would love to engage in tug-of-war, wrestling and chase.  She is learning fetch, as well as other commands. She is a smart and sensitive girl, so will do very well with consistent positive reinforcement. She will also benefit from continued passive socialization as she has really only ever known life in a quiet country home without many excursions or new things. Marley is calm and quiet in the house, as well as crate trained.  She is housetrained to a fenced yard.  As Marley settles in, she has increasing moments of spunkiness, and enjoys almost ALL toys, and games of tug, chase and fetch with her humans.  This girl loves playing with toys! She is living in a home with a very large, fenced yard and she loves to run zoomies around it, even in the snow!!!  She is cohabitating with two senior chihuahuas who are coexisters and not players. She would probably love to have a more interactive canine companion or two but also does well coexisting with dogs who prefer not to play and would probably be fine as an only pet with regular human attention. Thus far, Marley has gone on a few walks in a quiet neighborhood and is interested in the passive sights and smells; she shows some concern about passing people and she is quite concerned about car traffic of all kinds and prefers to stay away from all streets with car traffic. Overtime, with short, regular exposures, we would expect this concern to lessen, but a high traffic neighborhood, or a go-everywhere lifestyle is probably not the right fit for her as of right now.  For this reason, she would probably also do best in a home with direct access to a fenced yard to do her busy and get her zoomies out, at least for the first few months while leash confidence is built. Marley is a sweet girl who is eager to please in an unassuming, and slightly submissive way.  She is looking for a family to show her patience and kindness as she builds her confidence and matures into the lovely adult dog she is meant to be. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 19, 2025, 10:30 am
