Meet Charlie! Charlie is an 8-year-old Corgi mix (born 12/25/2017—a true Christmas baby!) who supposedly has a little Mini Poodle in him, though his Corgi charm and curves clearly steal the show. He came to us as an owner surrender and has been shuffled between a few homes recently, so what Charlie wants most now is stability and a forever family. He weighs 22 lbs. Charlie is a friendly, curious, and wonderfully chill guy who’s been housetrained and trusted to roam freely when left home alone. He’s a food lover, not particularly interested in toys, and has that classic corgi stubborn streak—balanced nicely by the fact that he knows his basic commands. He gets along well with other dogs, cats, and kids, making him an easy fit for many households. The vets have diagnosed him with hypothyroidism, which is a chronic disease easily treated with low-cost thyroid replacement hormone (he'll need to be on this for the rest of his life). Charlie is ready to stop packing his bags and finally settle into a home where he can relax, be himself, and enjoy the rest of his years. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. At 9 years old and 16 lbs., Wheezy was surrendered to the shelter when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. To say she was scared is an understatement. Wheezy was very happy to get out of the shelter with us and simply cuddled up for a nice ride home. Wheezy is good with both dogs and cats. She is well-behaved in the home and can be left home without being destructive. The best news of all, she is housebroken. She is a great girl who is looking for a second chance with a family of her own. Wheezy has been vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and had a dental done where they needed to remove several of her teeth. Wheezy has recently been diagnosed with Cushing disease which is being treated with daily medication. OUR RESCUE WILL COVER THE COST OF HER MEDICATION. She is doing great with it and will make a wonderful pet for a lucky family. Meet Merlin! This funny quirky 2 year old mix was surrendered when his owner was relocating. He had not been to a vet (ever?!), was covered in some kind of weird healing scabs that his owners said was a reaction to some new shampoo?, and was a bit thin but his skin has healed up nicely and he’s put on weight. He gets nervous at first and picks and chooses his friends, but warms up fast and dances around for attention. He is obsessed with squeaky toys, walks nicely on a leash, and is fine with other dogs and could live with or without them in a home. He was said to be a Maltese mix? Though he looks more like an eskie/pom mix or oversized longhair chihuahua. Merlin is 13lbs (probably should be about 15), has been vetted, neutered, updated on shots, and is ready for a home. This is the face of a senior who doesn’t understand why he’s homeless 😞 Meet Jorge. His owner was frantically driving around with him looking for a shelter to take him immediately, refusing to bring him back home because he snapped at them that morning trying to put his harness on when he wanted to be left alone. His owners had been having some changes in their living situation and health issues and it was just too much to continue to care for him. We were expecting the worst of him but he’s actually more of a sad scared boy than feisty and evil, and he tried really hard to show that he wasn’t comfortable being cornered and really didn’t like that harness. He’s been fine with other dogs and cooperative with us, picks up a routine quickly and likes having access to a fenced yard better than having to be walked. But he’s a pretty easy guy overall for the right home and doesn’t want to make waves and he’s been used to living with other dogs in the past. He’s about 12 years old, a chunky 20lbs and looks like a giant chihuahua, or a corgi on stilts, or a toy shepherd/husky mix 🤷‍♀️, neutered, updated on shots and in pretty good shape for his age overall. ●Rescue Story Diah was rescued from the euthanasia list at "Jeongeup City Shelter" in South Korea. Thanks to timely intervention, she was given a second chance at life and moved into a foster home, where she has been able to show her true personality in a safe and loving environment. ●Temperament & Behavior Diah is a very people-loving dog. She is comfortable even with strangers touching her and often approaches first, asking for affection. As soon as someone pets her, she happily rolls onto her back, inviting more love and belly rubs. She gets along well with other dogs and can live in a multi-dog household. While she may feel a bit overwhelmed by dogs that play very roughly, once she has time to get to know them, she plays happily with dogs of all sizes—running, playing, and engaging in gentle wrestling. Her compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. ●Walking & Daily Life At first, Diah seemed a bit timid on walks, but with consistent leash training she has learned to walk nicely while matching her handler’s pace. Loud noises or passing cars may briefly startle her, causing her to pause, but if given a moment to calmly wait, she regains confidence and continues walking, sniffing around and enjoying her surroundings. She has no food allergies, is not a picky eater, and eats well. Her shedding level is moderate, about 5 out of 10. ●Habits & Training Diah uses indoor pee pads about 80% of the time and goes potty outdoors about 20% of the time. She tolerates baths and brushing well and remains calm during grooming. She does not show separation anxiety and is comfortable staying alone. She rarely barks, only giving a short bark occasionally at the doorbell. She rides extremely well in the car with no motion sickness. When placed in a car seat, she calmly lies down, naps, watches people, or looks out the window. ●Likes & Personality Diah loves playing with toys and engaging in gentle play.
