Story
Currently in a Toronto foster home Happy has a bittersweet past, once a target for euthanasia at a city shelter. Fortunately, her life took a positive turn when a rescuer stepped in to give her a second chance. Now at 1 year old, Happy is a sweet, affectionate pup who adores people. She cherishes time spent with humans far more than playing with other dogs and loves nothing more than snuggling in someone's arms for a cozy nap. While she may be cautious around strangers at first, Happy quickly warms up, wagging her tail enthusiastically and greeting new friends with an irresistible charm. Once she feels comfortable, Happy’s affectionate side truly shines. She loves giving kisses, is full of playful energy, and even has a hint of jealousy when sharing attention with others. Interestingly, Happy feels more at ease around larger dogs than smaller ones. During her time at a doggy daycare, she got along well with other dogs, though she always preferred the company of humans over canine friends. Given her personality, Happy would thrive in a home where someone is always around to shower her with the love and attention she craves. A stable, warm environment would allow her to blossom into the happiest version of herself. If you're ready to welcome this affectionate, people-loving pup into your heart and home, Happy is ready to fill your life with love and joy! Story
Jjalbong is an incredibly affectionate and charming pup who was rescued from a shelter. His sweet and adaptable personality has helped him settle into new environments quickly and easily. With his unique leopard-like coat pattern and short legs, Jjalbong is as adorable as he is special. At just 11 months old, Jjalbong is still a playful puppy who loves spending time with other dogs. He gets along wonderfully with them, and his friendly demeanor makes him irresistible to both humans and other pups. Even when other dogs bark or nibble at him, Jjalbong remains unbothered and approaches them with enthusiasm. While his playfulness might feel a bit intense for some dogs, he thrives with companions who share his energy level. Jjalbong warms up quickly to strangers, making him an easygoing and sociable companion. However, since he’ll be traveling overseas on a 14-hour flight and moving to a new environment, he’ll need time to adjust. Giving him the space and patience to come to you on his own terms will allow his bubbly and loving personality to shine through. On walks, Jjalbong loves exploring his surroundings and may pull on the leash occasionally, especially when he needs to potty or spots pigeons, cats, or other dogs. He’s currently in training to improve his leash manners. Sometimes, he gets so excited that he behaves a bit rambunctiously, but he responds well to gentle corrections and is improving every day. Jjalbong has a special love for grass, often rolling around or lying in grassy areas to his heart’s content. He has no known food allergies or picky eating habits and is fully potty-trained for outdoor environments. While he doesn’t show signs of separation anxiety at the moment, this may change depending on his living situation. He is generally quiet but might bark occasionally at sounds like bicycles passing by the house. A quick “no” or stepping in front of him usually stops the barking. Jjalbong is ready to bring his boundless affection and joyful energy to a loving family. His playful and endearing personality is sure to fill your home with happiness and laughter! Story
Seven / Male / Approx. 2 Years / 27lbs / Corgi Mix / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids / Selective with Cats / From Mexico/ Fostered in Hamilton Meet Seven! Seven is described as super smart, loyal and laidback lap dog. It’s unclear if he’s being loving, or simply using your height to make up for his stumpy legs. Seven came to us from Mexico where he was found injured and stuck underneath a car. After being nursed back to health he moved onto our rescue partner's farm. He is one of the few dogs responsible enough to be given complete freedom on the farm. He is a soulful pup who can fall asleep anywhere, but he enjoys some bursts of playtime. He is interested in new people but prefers the company those he knows. Once he’s found his person he will happily follow them around the house and supervise in the kitchen. His ideal home would be somewhere outside of the city centre. Somewhere a bit more serene with not a lot of chaos, where his people are home often enough to spend quality time with him. His perfect family will let him hog the remote, sleep in their bed, and continue spoiling him. While Seven does well with other dogs, he’s not too interested in them. He has been tested with cats and chased one but did not show interest in the other. He could likely go to a home with a resident dog or dog saavy cat after a proper meet and greet. Slow intros are important as everything is new to him and he is still coming out of his shell. Seven is on the lower end of medium energy and will need two walks daily, potty breaks, as well as some canine enrichment. He walks well on a leash and is overall a very well-mannered boy. He knows his basic commands but can be stubborn, especially outside of the home where there are distractions. Seven would do well with a family who could continue working on his training with him. He has been known to climb fences so lost dog prevention is incredibly important for his family to be aware of. Seven has been left alone at home for up to 4 hours while crated, but his foster thinks he could be trusted with free reign. He also sleeps in his crate at night and does not show any signs of separation anxiety. This handsome little short stack is very versatile. He can be happy going for long hikes or binge-watching Grace and Frankie. If you’re looking for a best friend and someone to keep your lap warm, Seven is your guy! Prior to coming into care, Seven tested positive for Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, which are tick-borne infections and are not contagious. A CBC was performed to see if there is an active infection; his CBC came back indicating that there is no active infection. It is recommended that Ehrlichia positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor and that pre-op blood work include a CBC test and platelet count be performed before any surgeries or dental extractions. He was also treated for Heartworm and will continue to undergo treatment for heartworm. He does not require much in the way of special care but his adopters will need to ensure he receives his medications regularly. They should also limit prolonged, extra strenuous activity. Seven will stay on a combination of Doxycycline and a heartworm prevention pill until he has two negative heartworm tests 6 months apart. Fetch + Releash will cover the cost of the Doxycycline, the first 6 months of the heartworm prevention and the follow up heartworm test(s) provided they are done at our partner vet clinic. The adoptive family will then be responsible for covering the cost of the next 6 months of the heartworm prevention medicine.
