Seven is available for Foster to Adopt! **Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form** We'd love to welcome Seven into the Fetch + Releash family on January 7th. In order to secure a spot on the flight, he needs a committed foster-do-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take him home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. After being nursed back to health he moved onto our rescue partner's farm. He is one of the few dogs that has complete freedom on the farm. His rescuer says he is a very smart and responsible boy. He is a soulful pup who can fall asleep anywhere (though his favourite place is in your lap), but he enjoys some bursts of playtime. His perfect family will let him hog the remote, sleep in their bed and continue spoiling him. He can be happy going for long hikes or binge-watching Grace and Frankie -- a very versatile boy. Seven has been known to climb fences so lost dog prevention is incredibly important for his family to be aware of. Seven is on the lower end of medium energy and will need two walks daily as well as some canine enrichment. Seven has good house manners. He is crate-trained, walks well on leash and is working on his potty training. His new family should be prepared to continue his training and support him with any regressions while he gets used to his new home. Seven loves treats, so will be an easy candidate to work with. Seven was briefly tested with cats and while he ignored one, he chose to chase the other cat. He'd probably do best in a cat-free home, or living with a dog-savvy cat. Seven prefers not to share his food (same here) so if he is in a multi-pet household, it would be best to feed them separately. His rescuer notes he prefers to stay away from sheep and iguanas (that's a story for another day). While he hasn't been tested with children, we believe he would do well with respectful, dog-savvy children based on his gentle nature. His family should be prepared to supervise all interactions to ensure everyone's safety. Prior to coming into care, Seven tested positive for Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, which are tick-borne infections and are not contagious. A CBC was performed to see if there is an active infection; his CBC came back indicating that there is no active infection. It is recommended that Ehrlichia positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor and that pre-op blood work include a CBC test and platelet count be performed before any surgeries or dental extractions. He was also treated for Heartworm and will continue to undergo treatment for heartworm. He does not require much in the way of special care but his adopters will need to ensure he receives his medications regularly. They should also limit prolonged, extra strenuous activity. Seven will stay on a combination of Doxycycline and a heartworm prevention pill until he has two negative heartworm tests 6 months apart. Fetch + Releash will cover the cost of the Doxycycline, the first 6 months of the heartworm prevention and the follow up heartworm test(s) provided they are done at our partner vet clinic. The adoptive family will then be responsible for covering the cost of the next 6 months of the heartworm prevention medicine. Name: Coco Breed: Korean street dog (Guessed to be Jindu/Corgi) Weight: 27 pounds Gender: Female Spayed/neutered: Spayed Age: approx 8.5 years old Obtained From: Leader of the Pack Dog Rescue in 2018.  Korean street dog. Reason for Intake: Coco is afraid of the 18 month old child in the home and is growling and snarling at them. Up to Date with Vetting: Yes Good with dogs: She has lived with an older Golden retriever and a young, male, Lab.  She was fine with them and is better with calm dogs who don't get into her face and space. Good with cats: She lives with cats, however, the cats live on a different level of the home and they really don't interact.  She has had skirmishes with the cats and been found with fur in her mouth.   Good with kids: Not comfortable with toddlers or young children.  She has lived with children 10 years and older and been fine with them as long as they went slow with her and respected her boundaries. Good with strangers: Nervous with new people.  If a stranger comes to the door she will bark and her hackles will go up.  She is curious and will approach them most of the time but she doesn't enjoy being touched by strangers.  She is OK with them moving around in the home but will avoid them and go and lay out of the way.  More uncomfortable with men and people wearing hats. Resource guarding issues: She does not guard anything from the people in the home.  She has guarded her food bowl, treats, and toys from the dogs in the home. Housetrained: Yes Crate trained: They have not crated her.  She did travel here from Korea in a crate. Good in the car: She is anxious in the car.  She is terrified of car washes. Bark when left alone: No.  They are currently working from home but in the past she has been left alone while they worked full-time outside the home. Destructive: No Energy Level: Medium Leash skills: She walks well on leash but is reactive to other dogs on walks and will bark/growl/lunge at them.  She is afraid to walk on busy streets. Okay with physical handling/manipulations: In general she is uncomfortable with being handled.  They can bathe her but she does not enjoy it.  She is OK with them brushing her back but has snapped at them when they have tried to brush her longer fur.  She is professionally groomed but the groomer is careful and goes slow with her.  She has seen a mobile vet at home and a vet at a clinic.  She is fearful but they have been able to give her care. He’s currently learning leash walking and socialization skills, and his lively, cheerful personality is sure to win you over. As a puppy, Youngsoo is still in his learning phase and will require a dedicated adopter who can guide him with patience and training. Like any young dog, he may chew on things, so keeping a close eye on him and providing appropriate outlets for his energy will be important.
