Meet Happy💜 Happy lived neglected within a fenced area of junkyard. The person who reported Happy to us was feeding Happy for a year and when the junkyard went bankrupt, the owner left and abandoned Happy. Please be Happy’s miracle and become his forever family. 🙏🏻 * He has a Jindo face with short legs just like a corgi. He is adorable and sunny. 🥰 * He's wary at first, but once he opens up, he is sweet and asks for pets. 😊 * Not very interested in the other dog friends at ADOGS Center! He only takes his own treats and doesn’t pay much attention to other dogs. He does well all around! * He has a good appetite and eats very fast. He needs help with eating slowly because he might choke and cough when he eats too fast. * He does not bark when other dogs bark 👍🏻

Story
Meet DoYou 두유🩵 (DoYou means soy milk in Korean) Right after he was born, along with his 4 siblings and his mommy, they came to Korean City Shelter. Currently, Doyou is the last one who is waiting to be adopted. He loves his pup friends and plays very gently!! His social skill is on top of top.👍🏻 When introduced to dogs he meets for the first time, he wags and sniffs gently. Doyou is curious and energetic! He's calm but also he is actually a active, adorable, and mischievous pup. At the same time, DoYou can play by himself so he can be only dog or can live with other dog siblings. When his foster family is in the living room, Doyou doesn’t stay by himself in his room but will come to sit on his foster family’s lap.❤️ *Separation anxiety: None. DoYou can sleep by himself separately. *Potty-training: He is mostly housebroken and does well on a potty pad, but sometimes poops inside!😅 *Doyou sometimes bark when hearing an unknown sound, but there is no unnecessary barking. If his foster tells him to stop, he will stop barking right away. *No separation anxiety, doesn’t make messes, no carsickness, no unnecessary barking, and has a good social skill, Doyou is a perfect pup! *Doyou can walk, bathe, let his foster to clean his ears very gently.😀 However, there is some nipping when his toenails get trimmed…🥺 *No carsickness. *So smart!! Mastered sit, wait, give a paw, spin, nose, hi five, and slow! 👍🏻(If you say slow! he will eat slowly) Possible to do “Bark low!” and “Bark loud!” *Doyou’s favorites: Ripping papers play, ball play, tug play, treats, people, walking outside, nose walk toy, doggy friends, meat treats, cooked dried pollock treats. 💙 Foster Instagram: @doyousoymilk_foster 💙 Health issues : Allergic to egg white and peanuts, has atopic dermatitis

Story
Meet Volt⚡️ Volt has stayed in Korean City Shelter from Sept 2023. Everytime we visit the shelter, he wagged his tail strongly. He always wants people's love. But he's been waiting for his family at the shelter for about half a year. He was on the euthanasia list. Fortunately, his euthanasia this time has been postponed, but we don't know when he'll be on the list again. We ADOGS wants to rescue him right away, but we can't because of the many other dogs already at ADOGS Center. But once his family is decided, we'll rescue him from the city shelter right away, take him to the vet, and start getting ready to fly out to you. He's only 8kg small and has lovely short legs. He may have a lot to learn but he deserves to be loved!! Please be his furever family🙏 ** Will be rescued from the city shelter and get health checkup with neutering right after the adoption is decided ** * Toward People: Has a strong affinity for people! Is a lovely dog who approaches you and wags his tails to ask to be touched. * Toward Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs and exhibits gentle qualities. * Separation Anxiety: It is unknown since he is currently residing at the Center. * Potty Training: It is not known for sure since he was just rescued. * Hygiene: Usually gets bathed and brushed thoroughly. * Walks: Enjoys taking walks! Is accustomed to being on a leash, so walking won't be an issue!

Meet Kitshy! Kitsch was rescued when her time ran out at city shelter. Thankfully a rescuer was able to get her out and to the vet for a full check up. she has since gotten a clean bill of health and is ready to find her forever home. We are looking for a home that understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog. she is patiently waiting! -dog: a little bit nervous, in social training -cat: tend to chase cats, recommend for home without other animal -kids: good -crate: good -housebroken: good -leash: good -barker: no -special comments: Kitshy loves playing ball with people. she was treated for the 2nd stage of hearworm and finished the treatment now and it would be great to recheck the heartworm kit test after 1 year for her health. She can be nervous or a little bit aggressive to small dogs or cats so please be cautious when meeting them. She’ve been in social training now when walking out with her foster.

Story
Jasmine (born: 3/20/2012) is 10 years old and 22 pounds. We were told that her parents were a Collie and a Chihuahua, but we think she looks like a Corgi / Sheltie mix. We call Jasmine the Elizabeth Taylor of dogs, because she is like a glamorous, iconic, movie star – very discerning about who she makes friends with. If you are gentle and let her warm up to you, you will pass the test and Jasmine will absolutely adore you! Jasmine loves to be admired, brushed, being with you, she enjoys her walks and is housebroken. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. Once a completed application is received, the HSNY Adoption Team will review it and we will contact you if we are going to take next steps. FOR AN APPLICATION, please visit http://humanesocietyny.org/adoptions/ and download then email your application to hsny.adopt@gmail.com. Our one and only location is: 306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan. If you'd like to sponsor Jasmine, please email amk.hsny@verizon.net. You can give as much or as little as you like. Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you! For additional information on the Humane Society of New York, please visit: humanesocietyny.org. Thank you!

Story
**Current Location: in a foster home in South Korea** Meet Mango :) She was rescued from a high-kill city shelter and was about to be euthanized. However, due to her refusal to be touched by strangers, she underwent a lengthy training program with her foster family and is now doing very well. If you give her enough time and unconditional love, he will become your best friend. With Cats ; She is currently doing well with the cats in her temporary home. She is not aggressive towards cats and ignores them. With Dogs ; She is currently getting along well with the dogs in her foster home. They usually play well together, but there are times when she is shy. With Adults/Kids ; She is shy with people, and is good with people she knows well (she gets treats), but is very cautious with touch. Sudden touch from strangers (adults & kids) can cause her to act defensive (she hasn't bitten yet but acts like she will, or she pees when picked up and held suddenly, or she jumps away), but she will sniff and recognize when approached cautiously. Shedding ; Usually, her coat will increase when winter comes. The fur gets stuck to the fabric rather than shedding. Walking Manner ; She loves to go for walks, in both familiar and new places. Sometimes hesitates to go for a walk in crowded places (but does well in moderate crowds). Housetrained ; She's housebroken and doesn't cause too many problems, but she still chews on wood and plastic items. She goes potty on her pee pad, but much prefers to do her business outdoors. When outdoors, he relieves himself on dirt or grass. Bathing/Brushing ; She takes baths well (though not her favorite). She also likes to be brushed. Separation Anxiety ; She has always lived with other dogs but has no problem when her foster family goes out of town. Bark or Howl ; She barks when she hears strangers outside. She barks when strangers come to visit, but there's no aggression - she doesn't howl. Carsickness ; She gets nervous when riding in the car, so she can get car sick when traveling for long periods. She tolerates it well for about 30 minutes. Her favorite things are a set routine, family, walks, playing in the park, and her favorite treats (tridles, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cheese, chicken, beef, duck, etc.) Personality ; She is a little timid, cautious, gentle, and good-natured. She loves going for walks with her family, spending time at her favorite park, and just being at home with her family. She also loves walks, parks, and hikes, and at home, she's happy to be in her own space (fluffy or crate) or sit quietly by her family's side.

Story
Nora has been a loving and beloved member of our family for 3.5 years, but she has also been a tremendous challenge. We've made tons of progress but have come to realize that long-term, she will be happier in a bigger, quieter home. Already anxious by the time she was rescued, she suffered brain damage due to blood loss when her spay went wrong in Jan 2021. (She's since been spayed properly.) There's too little space here to convey the scope of her issues, so suffice to say that Nora needs a home with space, quiet, and lots of patience from her owners. Loves: - Running in open areas. - Playing with other dogs she knows. - Dancing on her hind legs for a treat. Non-starters: - Homes in densely populated areas/ shared walls. - Kids under 12, or anyone who can't respect a boundary when she asserts one. - Inexperienced dog owners She is both deeply, enthusiastically loving, and a tough case. Story
5 years, 35lbs, Corgi/Terrier Mix, Neutered - NEEDS TO LOOSE ABOUT 8 LBS - Lowe Rider (Super cute short legs)  Is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Parent Says: "Reading is truly one of the most loveable, adorable and angelic pups I've ever met! He is such a softie + sweetie – but still loves to play. Not destructive, no potty accidents, seems to know what off means for the most part... He loves a long walk but he also loves a long nap and cuddle. He's fun to train (we just learned to sit!), loves treats and destroys chew toys in under an hour (happily). He does NOT like his salmon kibble, however when mixed with some wet food he'll eat it, but he is quite the picky eater. He walks really well, loves to sniff everything, but doesn't seem to eat anything off the streets/isn't interested in eating things that aren't food or treats. He definitely has a mid level of energy and gets a 60-90 minute morning walk at about 7:30am, but can definitely keep up on a long Sunday stroll around town (was fine on a 2 .5 hour walk around with some breaks!) He loves to say hi to all other dogs, but sometimes the tail goes down and he'll growl a little, so I always make sure the tail is wagging before letting him say hello. Reading definitely struggles with separation anxiety and will need a pet parent able and patient to help him through this! He barks a little and then cries almost the entire time he's left alone, and sits and waits by the door until I return. It seems he'll bark a bit for about 5 minutes and then just whimper/cry softly. He even doesn't like when I go to the bathroom /leave him alone in a room, but it's only his first week here so this may improve with some training and as he decompresses. I think he'll do well with someone who is home often, with a consistent routine, plenty of exercise, training and love! He loves to come into my room to wake me up at 7:00am like an alarm clock, but sleeps solidly throughout the night with no disruptions. He definitely needs to lose a few pounds but has great energy levels/no issues with lots of exercise. He still has a very puppy-like energy and excitement!  Overall, he is such a great pup with a lovely personality and just some seo anxiety! He doesn't seem to mind the sounds and does well on the streets of NYC."  Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy Level  MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Energy Level Medium — Not bouncing off the walls but needs long walks and playtime, likes to be active Cuddle Bug Level Medium — Likes to snuggle when he's in the mood but often stays in his own bed – I WOULD SAY BETWEEN MEDIUM TO HIGH Potty Trained Yes — Few or no accidents - NO ACCIDENTS :)  Comfy with strangers? Yep — Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Good with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision) Not a great match for a home with kids — calm teenagers and up is okay.  He is very sensitive/a little mouthy (but gently) at playtime. Good with Other Dogs? Mostly — Generally good with other dogs but may be picky (scared of big dogs or plays too rough for small dogs, for example) – Wants to say hi to all of them, but sometimes the tail goes down and he growls so I wait to see if the tail wags before letting him say hi! Good with Other Animals? (cats, small pets, etc.) Yes — Seems to get along with other animals, either tries to play with them or is mostly uninterested – Haven't seen him around anything other than pigeons and squirrels, mostly uninterested Mouthy Behavior?  Low – Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in its mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime, doesn’t wreck your stuff — only chews on appropriate things like dog toys and bones.  Leash Manners? Old Pro – Seems like a dog that has been on leash before. Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.  Okay in the city? Yes  — Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue) Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction. Separation Anxiety?  High - not destructive but cries/barks/whines and sits by the door the entire time left alone. Would be great for a home in the burbs where he can cry (no neighbors) and get more comfy home alone.  Crate training?  Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range. Medical status Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees: Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc
