Story
Meet Bolt, the cutest 2-year-old Corgi mix who is so ready to be your short-legged bestie. Bolt is a sweet boy who was rescued from Screven, Georgia. He weighs 24 pounds and has the classic tan and white Corgi coloring with the most perfect pointy ears, pink tongue, and white “socks” on his feet. Bolt is a sweetheart who loves to be close to his humans. In your lap, beside your lap, following you around when you’re on the move, he just likes to be near. He adores scratches on the head and belly rubs, which we are all to happy to oblige. Bolt is a people dog and would love a family where he can be around others often. He’d do great in a home with kids who can give him all the affection and attention he deserves. He’d be the perfect family dog. He is working hard on perfecting his leash training and listens well to commands, especially when told to sit. Bolt is a playful guy who enjoys romping around the yard and finding the best stick. He prefers humans to other dogs and cats, so being in a household without other pets is ideal for him. Bolt is such a loving guy who truly enjoys cuddles and giving you all his love. What are you waiting for? Time to take off with a jolt and come meet Bolt! ⚡️ Bolt is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. Given the conditions Bolt originated from, upon rescue, he tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Bolt has completed his Heartworm treatment. *Heartworm disease is a serious and if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.* **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org** HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life! Story
** Current Location: in a foster home in South Korea ** Meet Mango :) She was rescued from a high-kill city shelter and was about to be euthanized. However, due to her refusal to be touched by strangers, she underwent a lengthy training program with her foster family and is now doing very well. If you give her enough time and unconditional love, he will become your best friend. • Affinity with -Cats: She is currently doing well with the cats in her temporary home. She is not aggressive towards cats and ignores them. -Dogs: She is currently getting along well with the dogs in her foster home. They usually play well together, but there are times when she is shy. -Adults/Kids: She is shy with people, and is good with people she knows well (she gets treats), but is very cautious with touch. Sudden touch from strangers (adults & kids) can cause her to act defensive (she hasn't bitten yet but acts like she will, or she pees when picked up and held suddenly, or she jumps away), but she will sniff and recognize when approached cautiously. • Shedding: Usually, her coat will increase when winter comes. The fur gets stuck to the fabric rather than shedding. • Walking Manner: She loves to go for walks, in both familiar and new places. Sometimes hesitates to go for a walk in crowded places (but does well in moderate crowds). • Housetrained: She's housebroken and doesn't cause too many problems, but she still chews on wood and plastic items. She goes potty on her pee pad, but much prefers to do her business outdoors. When outdoors, he relieves himself on dirt or grass. • Bathing/Brushing: She takes baths well (though not her favorite). She also likes to be brushed. • Separation Anxiety: She has always lived with other dogs but has no problem when her foster family goes out of town. • Bark or Howl: She barks when she hears strangers outside. She barks when strangers come to visit, but there's no aggression - she doesn't howl. • Carsickness: She gets nervous when riding in the car, so she can get car sick when traveling for long periods. She tolerates it well for about 30 minutes. • Her favorite things are a set routine, family, walks, playing in the park, and her favorite treats (tridles, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cheese, chicken, beef, duck, etc.) • Personality: She is a little timid, cautious, gentle, and good-natured. She loves going for walks with her family, spending time at her favorite park, and just being at home with her family. She also loves walks, parks, and hikes, and at home, she's happy to be in her own space (fluffy or crate) or sit quietly by her family's side.

Story
** Current location: in a foster home in South Korea ** Meet Henry👋 an endearing handsome boy with cute unbalanced ears! Henry was found alone on a street in S. Korea at four months old in July 2021 and taken to a high-risk city shelter. Fortunately, having been rescued right before euthanasia by the rescue team, he lived in a crowded private shelter with numerous dogs until July 2023, when he found a foster home. His loving foster family has been taking good care of him since. Henry has learned a lot about how to love and be loved by his people. He is full of charm and can’t wait to show it to his forever family! • Personality: Calm, Curious, Adorable Henry is a calm and independent pup with a strong curiosity! All he needs in the beginning is enough time for him to get himself accustomed to the new environment. He is not a big cuddler, but you can see some of his lovely sides once he warms up to you💕 First of all, his unbalanced ears are absolutely something to adore about him! His energy level is medium-low. He is mostly chill and spends most of his time at home resting. He only gets excited and active when having a walk outside. He is neither a barker nor a destroyer! • Affinity with - Dogs: Generally good with other dogs. He wants to say hi to other dogs on a walk, though he prefers calm friends and tries to ignore barking/hyper dogs. - Cats: No aggression but just excitement & curiosity. - Adults/Kids: Good with adults except loud/aggressive male adults. / He just tries to avoid kids when they approach. • Walking Manners: Well-mannered, pacing with his people without pulling the leash. • Housetrained: Fully housebroken, mainly going potty outdoors but he knows how to use pee-pads indoors when necessary. • Bathing/Brushing: Very good and calm • Car Sickness: in training • Separation Anxiety: None. • Barks/Howls: Almost none. Just a little bit when strangers come inside the house. • Appetite/Food Allergies: No allergies. • Shedding level (1~10): 5-6 • Likes/Dislikes: Henry loves being petted, going for walks, and meat! / He doesn’t like big gestures and sudden loud noise, though he is not sensitive to usual residential noise. If you have an open heart and a loving home for Henry, please don't hesitate to apply!

Story
Meet Conner! This beautiful little boy is a quiet, loves his humans kind of guy! ASCZ thinks he could have some Corgi & Chihuahua. He's about a year old and currently weighs about 16 pounds. We don't think he will get much bigger than that! This boy loves to hang out and explore, his current foster mom says his favorite time is coffee time in the garden taking in the sights and sounds! He's good with other dogs & kids, but really doesn't appreciate cats so no cats for him! Conner would do best with a person that is home more than not, he just loves to be his person's shadow & to be loved on. He's super easy going and would make a great addition to any family. Story
My name is Ziti! Like the pasta! We think I am a Corgi/Basenji mix. I am about 17 lbs and a young girl at around 18 months. I am an absolute love and I am great with dogs; I have lived with dogs big and small. I can be a little shy with people at first but once I get a few minutes, I am fine. I have spent time with kids and have no issue around them; I have not been around kids under 6 extensively. I really just need to feel safe and loved. I do have a birth defect which makes me, some would say, even more special! I was born without a kneecap in one of my back legs. I can still walk and run and jump and I operate without discomfort. This is just the way I am. I am pad trained and crate trained and I walk well on leash. I have frequented the Jersey shore and enjoy my time in the sand and near the ocean! I could see myself with one person where I can sit in their lap and keep them company or in a home with another fun dog and a family. No cats please; I have lived with them but seem selective with which ones I can tolerate. The ones I live with currently, I like to chase. However, past cats, I haven't had an issue with so I guess...yes... I am selective with the felines. I am a really great girl that would make a person very happy!
