Foster Home Feedback 2/9/2025 Foster Feedback: Almond Roca, or Roca in our house, is an absolute love bug. She LIVES for cuddles. In fact, within the first 30 minutes of being in our home, she had fallen asleep on my lap and was snoring the night away. The first few days, Roca wanted extra space from our resident dogs, but as time has gone on, she happily coexists. She's never gone after them - just lifts her lip to tell them she needs her personal space and will go right back to what she was doing. They have tried playing with her, but she seems more content playing with humans or by herself. I think Roca would adore a home where she doesn't need to compete for attention, either being an only dog or with more submissive dogs. Almond Roca has never shown aggression or run after our cats, and it might help that she's almost the same size. At least height-wise. Almond Roca has also learned how to go through the cat door section of our walk-through gate, which our big dogs find bewildering. Roca is good with dogs/cats/kids, is potty trained, crate trained, and has learned "kennel" and hops right in when it's time for her food, naps, or bedtime. She still whines here and there if she feels left out knowing others are roaming the house, but she will quiet down. Especially if you have a blanket draped over her kennel. Though, I think she would gladly free-roam or cuddle up next to her humans every night. This little gal also loves car rides. I've brought Roca to work with me several times. When she sees me getting my shoes on, she starts hopping and knows it's time to put on her harness, trot to the car, look out the window, and absorb everything around her. Child safety window locks are a good idea since she likes to put her short little legs on the car door to fully appreciate the views. Almond Roca is more hesitant around males and will bark at them through my office windows, but after they give her some treats and talk to her calmly, she will lean into them and allow them to pet her. Every day she came with me, she gained more confidence and would trot over to my coworker's offices to get some extra pets and affection. She will also walk up to me and "ask" to jump up onto my lap at my desk and nudge my hands away from my keyboard to tell me when she needs extra attention. Almond Roca is very affectionate, and when she looks up at you, her eyes filled with love, I'm certain she can melt any heart.
