Menu DOGS READY FOR ADOPTION Windiger Farms Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation REINA Reina is a fantastic, beautiful GSD. I would love to keep her for myself. I can’t, though. She is a medium to high energy dog. She is sometimes slightly dominating with other dogs, though I’ve noticed that behavior has leveled out as she has decompressed at our farm. She has met 6 of our dogs with only one very minor altercation (a growl and hackles up) with our more dominant female. I think she would do well with almost any dog with a SLOW INTRODUCTION. Her vet records have her as 1-2 years. She demonstrates a lot of puppy behaviors. She is obsessed with her toys and wants to share them with you. A lot 😆 She alternates between play mode and wanting to chill on the couch. She’s cuddly. She’s a very typical GSD and will be a great guardian dog. She is housetrained. She is current on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. I really want this girl to have a good home. FRANK Frank is the absolute most fun and playful Corgi mix. His vet says he is about four years old. I am thinking his other half is Labrador, as he is high energy and loves to bring you toys. is adorably short legs, Frank is a medium size dog at about 40 lbs. Frank was pulled from an overcrowded shelter in Indiana along with a terrier mix named Possum. Though they have not spent their entire lives together, they are very bonded. I am willing to separate Frank and Possum, but I believe Frank would be sad as an only dog. Frank is not perfect (are any of us?) and will occasionally tear up toys or shoes if left unattended. I recommend crating him when he is left alone. He pulls a bit on the leash and would benefit from a no pull harness. I imagine Frank as being a great family dog. I feel so incredibly comfortable with him around my kids. He does not have a mean bone in his body. He is a precious soul that has been treated poorly his entire life, He needs that special someone to give him the forever home he so deserves. Frank is neutered and current on vaccinations. He did test as low level heartworm positive and is under treatment with the slow kill monthly kill method. His medications will go with him. Please consider adding Frank to your family.

Story
Meet Wabbit! He is believed to be a 4 year old Corgi Jack Russell mutt mix. He is just under 25 pounds. Wabbit is a special needs dog, he is epileptic and requires medication 3x a day. His seizures are controlled very well with his medication. Without his medication his seizures become continuous clusters. You see Wabbit was a distemper survivor pup, which caused the damage to his central nervous system causing him to become epileptic. Wabbit is a sweet boy who thrives to be independent. He never barks, ever. He loves to walk but if we prefer to hold him he won’t complain unless he wants to walk. He snuggles and cuddles and thrives in nurturing hands while still maintaining his independence. Wabbit is very low key, very simple, calm, lazy, independent dog. He can be a lap dog, when he wants to. As long as he is cared for, given his med's on time, and has other dogs he is happy and healthy, Wabbits epilepsy is finally under control and any potential adopters must discuss this with their vet in depth, we prefer an experienced adopter. Wabbit is on: 250mg 3x a day Phenobarbital 97.2 m 3x a day Potassium bromide 500mg daily split tab 2x a day And other supplements. Truly as long as his seizures remain in control he is a very easy dog and takes his meds like a champ. Wabbit does require specific food with rosemary extract free. Wabbit is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Updated: 2/1/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

Story
Meet Squirrel!! He is believed to be 3.5 years of age Corgi JRT mix. Who has overcome so much already including parvo and distemper. Oh boy has he been a very slow progress project dog.He came to us spring of 2016 after his receiving rescue who pulled him from TEXAS refuse to take owner ship of the 5 dogs due to fearful behaviors presented upon intake. Since, his whole family of 5 dogs all adopted except him. He is still making steady continue process. Squirrel is extremely sweet but lacks confidence and social skills, when it come to moving forward with change. He can easily become unsure and any confidence plummets when his fear is trigger causing anxiety and unwillingness to try. He freezes in fear but that has becoming a thing from the past. We keep pushing him until he realizes there is no need to fear anything, anyone, or place. Squirrel is amazing with dogs and fact is they are crucial for his continued progress. Squirrel thrives in a pack. He continues to learn from them. Squirrel is cat friendly too and would do just fine with older mature kids who will nurture him and push him a bit more out of his comfort zone. A fenced in yard is a must, experience with dogs like him preferred, a balance pack needed. Squirrel is very food, praise, affection motivated and requires persistence paired with nurturing without pity. He needs a calm, assertive, compassionate, nurturer leader. Squirrel is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, neutered, and on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention.
