Story
I’m Manny, a 12 year old, 20 pound, male Corgi mix. I’m looking for a special home to spend my golden years. I’m very loving and get along with dogs and cats. I take my time warming up to new things. I am house trained. I am blind but get around fine and have no problem with stairs. In my past life I was very secluded and not cared for. That gave me some triggers. Well really just one — gates, any kind of gate. Because of Manny’s nervousness and past life, we will plan of multiple meetings. Also, Manny will need to be adopted within 50 miles of Flossmoor, IL. Manny is microchipped as well as up to date on vaccines, monthly preventatives. He has had a dental. Manny’s adoption fee is $150. If you are think you are Manny’s special someone, please visit heathersfosterdogs.org to complete and submit your adoption application.

Story
4 year old, home trained and recently had gone through a board and train program. Healthy and all vaccines are up to date. Overall good on walks - has herding instincts (as most corgis) and tends to bark at bicycles. Mostly friendly with strangers and other dogs; and loves attention. A little reactive and resource guards. Will require substantial attention to follow through tips from the board and train program to help correct bad behaviors. Sweet dog otherwise, very playful and easily attached to people Rehoming fees include crate, favorite toys, leash and walking equipment, treats, notes and tips from trainer.

Story
Relationship with Adults: Very friendly. Approaches strangers wagging her tail. Relationship with Children: Shows no aggression. Relationship with Other Dogs: Good. Approaches unfamiliar dogs first to greet them. Relationship with Cats: Shows no interest. House Training: Prefers outdoor potty. Marks areas that smell like other dogs. Needs continued potty training (about 50% trained). Energy Level: 4 out of 10. She is lively but will lie down and show her belly when petted. Separation Anxiety / Barking: Whines a little when she can't see people but soon calms down. Rarely barks. Touch/Handling: Loves human touch. Enjoys being petted and carried. Leash Walking: Pulls slightly but is easy to control. Loves getting attention from everyone she passes by. Escape Attempts: Wants to dash out if the door is open. Needs to be watched carefully. Rescue Story: Rescued from the euthanasia list at a city shelter. Special Notes: When she sees people or food, she adorably taps her chubby paws with excitement. Since she has lived in a shelter, her behavior in a home environment may need some observation and adjustment.

Story
Meet Wrigley! He is a sweet, under-sized Corgi. He is good with people and most dogs (although Little Napoleon likes to bark at them.) He is under our care because my father-in-law passed away. He's currently living in a Chicago high rise where he loves everybody and anybody that will pet him. Elevator rides are the best! But he does not like living in Lake View at all. Once we get outside, everything scares him -- buses, joggers, traffic. Wrigley needs a quiet suburban or rural home where he can be king of his castle. He can be aggressive when something is dropped on the floor, and has a minor bite on his record. Update: He has bitten us again. We have been trying to train him out of this behavior but apparently with little success. It breaks my heart to offer him up because he is so loving, loves to sit on your lap and cuddle, to play tug, to play fetch. But he would be much happier somewhere quieter.
