Being treated for heartworms by rescueI am the goodest boy. I love all people. I love other dogs and cats. I walk good on a leash but I am pretty strong. I’m a hound dog with my nose to the ground but not a hunter. My last people didn’t care about me. They made me hungry all the time and they let me get heartworms. My rescue people love me. They are getting me treated for the heartworms and my belly is never empty. I don’t have to be outside in the heat, rain and cold. My angels were sent for me. They tell me my Furever Angel will come along shortly. Until then I’m living the bestest life. To apply please visit STFFAR.orgNovember 5, 2024, 4:51 pm

Story
Nikko is a sweet, loving Treeing Walker Coonhound who we rescued 5 years ago after being abandoned as a puppy and on his own for the first year of his life.  He's crate trained ( actually puts himself to bed in his crate when he's tired at night!) and house-trained.  If he has to go outside of his normal schedule, Nikko excels as placing his head in your lap and laying on the puppy eyes. Nikko has been a sweet, smart and funny companion for our 10-year-old.  When they chase each other around, Nikko loves to "hide" behind trees, thinking we can't see him, and learn new tricks when treats are involved.  At 45 pounds, he sometimes thinks he's a lap dog and loves to snuggle.  If you have a hoodie with a front pocket, he'll put his nose in the pocket and go right to sleep. We love this good boy but have made the tough decision to regime Nikko, as he is not thriving here.  We have noticed he has some triggers ( anxious and overstimulated) specific to certain situations in our very crowded neighborhood that I would love to speak with you about over the phone.  He absolutely thrives in rural settings, and we would love to find a home that has that for him where he can have a large space to run and be active.   ~Adoption donation $ . All vetting is up to date. Microchipped and neutered. Also on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Story
Rocko is an 18 month old American English Coonhound and is approximately 80lbs. He was abandoned at my property around this time last year and though I’ve tried my best to give him a good home, I’m not the right human for him He’s house trained and crate trained, up to date on shots, and is the sweetest doofus you’ll ever meet. He likes kids (he likes to jump though) and tolerates cats (he’s honestly kind of scared of cats but isn’t aggressive towards them). I’m rehoming him for two reasons: I’m a single mom with no real time to give him and he’s an escape artist that likes to head straight for the road…I’m afraid he’ll get run over. He needs room to run and/or someone that can devote time to him. He would make an excellent hiking/adventure buddy. He’s really at the peak time to be trained for hunting or sniffing, and he definitely has a talent for both. He’s up to date on all vaccines and is HW negative (and on preventative). Experience with hound dogs is preferable.
