Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! How do you spell fun? We spell it P-O-P-P-Y! This sweetheart is just full of joy and a playful spirit. At 6 months old, she still has much to learn, but she’s eager and curious. Her foster mom said that upon arrival, she was reticent—until she had a bath, a meal and quickly realized, being a fast learner, that life is great! When Poppy goes outside, she loves to play and explore, but once inside, she quickly settles down to snuggle next to her favorite person. She’s always alert indoors—ready to follow her fosters wherever they go, not wanting to miss a chance to join in or simply be near them. Poppy can be a bit reluctant with new experiences, like visiting the vet, being leashed, or meeting someone for the first time. However, she quickly overcomes that hesitation and returns to her happy, playful self. Love seems to follow Poppy, whether it’s with other dogs or people, she is a bundle of love. Poppy has just begun living a great life and is eagerly waiting for her forever person to take her the rest of the way home Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.April 28, 2025, 9:10 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!FENCED YARD NEEDED Sadie is a pretty 6-year-old collie who has quickly adjusted to life at her foster home. Inside, she’s calm and mellow, though her favorite pastime is gazing out the windows, where she may get a bit excited by the sights she sees. She enjoys being close to her humans but is also happy to observe from a distance. She is learning commands and understands “no” but still needs a treat to reliably come when called. She will thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard. While she’s only been with her foster family for a short time, we’re already seeing great progress. Sadie had an unfortunate run-in with a car as a youngster, but other than being a bit slower to get up, you wouldn’t notice. She walks politely on a leash and enjoys walks, but she would not be a good candidate for long walks or runs.   She's a happy girl, wags her tail often and tells her humans she needs to go out by coming up to them and barking. She barks with interest as she approaches other dogs in the neighborhood, but Sadie has not had the opportunity to be off leash with them. The cat in the household quickly left the area when it saw Sadie, and Sadie did not chase it. She is a good “watch” collie, barking at the door when someone knocks but greets people well. She has not shown any fear of household or weather noises. She is a bit vocal, but her barking does have a purpose--to alert the foster to something she thinks is worth checking out. Sadie is sweet and well-behaved, does well in the car and is trustworthy in the house without a crate. She is just waiting for her forever home.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.May 12, 2025, 9:58 am

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Meet Sammy, the adorable pup with a heart full of love! He found himself in foster care when his family had to move to a place that didn’t allow pets. Fortunately, this happy, easy-going boy settled in seamlessly at his foster home. From the moment he arrived, Sammy was eager to give out kisses—a habit he continues with everyone he meets. Sammy’s happy-go-lucky nature has been a great asset. He gets along wonderfully with the other dogs in the home, enjoying outdoor adventures before initiating playtime. Indoors, he entertains himself with toys. He’s also indifferent to the family cat, preferring to focus on playing with his fellow foster pup. This smart and well-mannered boy knows his name, is house and crate-trained, and has mastered the sit command. His foster mom describes him as a quick learner, highly motivated by both treats and food. He has adjusted smoothly to his new environment with no signs of anxiety due to the change in households. At just 1 year old, Sammy is young and active and would thrive in a home that can provide him with some activity. His pleasant demeanor will make him an easy and lovable addition to any forever home.  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.April 28, 2025, 9:10 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Ruby is 3 yrs old  Ruby is a gorgeous blue merle who is as sweet as she is beautiful. She can be a little shy when first meeting someone, but once she feels comfortable, she loves getting scratches, nose kisses and hugs. Mornings are her favorite for snuggles, and she will wake you up with sweet little ear kisses. After a quick trip outside, she loves to settle in for a cozy morning nap.   Ruby and her canine foster sibling have a blast playing together and romping around the yard with their favorite toys. She loves going for walks, happily taking in all the sights and smells along the way. Ruby walks nicely on a leash but can't resist pulling when she spots one of those sneaky squirrels. However, with a gentle reminder she quickly settles right back into step. Ruby has already claimed her foster home as her domain to protect. She will bark when someone’s at the door, but she’s quick to quiet down when asked and reassured that all is well. She has been known to chase cats, so we are unsure how she would do with a cat in the household since she was only with one for a brief stopover.   Car rides are a joy for Ruby, and she rides comfortably in the back, enjoying the scenery. She knows basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” “come” and “no” and is a quick learner. Ruby can't wait to find her forever home where she can share all of her love, snuggles and playful energy.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.May 27, 2025, 9:22 pm

Story
Silky soft, snuggly, and eager to please all the people he meets. Oakley is willing to trust new people, show his belly, give kisses. Knows 'sit,' 'lie down,' and getting acquainted with 'stay,' 'leave it,' and 'get down. Very interested in other dogs, but willing to be instructed to 'leave it' and carry on walking when we passed yards or houses with barking dogs. Fairly good on a leash. Very energetic, will be a good companion for someone athletic. But also Willing to hang out quietly while I you work on the computer or watched TV; even willing to ignore the nearby cats most of time. Curious about them but not wanting to interact with them. Before considering him as a pet do research on the breed. He is a herding dog and will try to steer you where he thinks you need to go. This will include nipping at your heels and hands if they are by your side. He will be good with older kids that understand his behavior. He is in a foster home so if you are interested in adoptiong me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.    November 6, 2024, 3:21 pm
