Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Penny is a gentle and kind 3 yr old collie. She enjoys being with both dogs and people equally. Penny can be motivated with food and is progressing in learning commands. When outside, she sometimes explores first and sometimes plays with the other dogs first. It just depends on her mood. If a dog gets a bit aggressive with her, she knows how to use her weight to her advantage and handles the situation well. She has been a bit anxious with fireworks and thunderstorms. Penny can also be a little hesitant when getting into the car or going to a new place.    Penny knows her mind and can be a bit stubborn and possessive of her person and her bones. When it comes to bedtime, Penny makes sure she’s lying between her foster mom and dad cuddling them both. That’s her spot and that’s all there is to it. Penny has shown her fosters that she is worth so much more than just a Penny. Sweet Penny is priceless. currently undergoing heartworm treatment. The adoption fee for Penny is $400.00Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.December 24, 2024, 3:49 pm

To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Meet sweet Max, a 3-year-old tri-colored collie looking for his forever home. He, along with two other collies, were found wandering the streets and were taken to a shelter. Almost Home Dog Rescue came along and connected him with a loving foster home. His foster family describes him as shy, but he warms up quickly to new people. He loves his foster family and just enjoys their company. He is affectionate and loves his daily snuggles. Max is becoming more comfortable each day. His foster family is teaching him all of his commands and his house manners. Luckily, Max is motivated by food and treats and is eager to learn.   Max has met other dogs, and he greets them happily and is very interested in interaction. He is content playing with his toys independently but also enjoys playing with the other dogs. He is a bit timid at first but has a goofy side as well. He has some anxiety when left alone, but this is improving every day as he gains trust in his new surroundings. Max is very intelligent! His foster family feels with continued guidance and consistency, he will continue to learn. He will be a loving companion to his adopted family.    The adoption fee for Max is $500.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.December 24, 2024, 4:11 pm

To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Coco is a pretty tri color collie who arrived at AHDRO with her sister Missy. She is calm indoors, occasionally playing with her sister, but otherwise watches the household action from a comfortable spot. She gets along well with other dogs, but she is cautious when meeting new canines. Coco enjoys being with her humans and is always ready to return to the house when asked to come inside. She does well with children but is also cautious with them at first.   She has good house manners, and Coco is housebroken and crate trained. Cats are mostly ignored unless they run by, and then she shows some interest but is doing ok. She has not been at her foster’s long enough to learn many commands, but we think that her love of food and treats will help that to go smoothly. She would do fine on her own or with other dogs, but Coco would probably love it the most if you might be willing to adopt both her and her sister. She is very sweet and will gain confidence as she gets to know her forever family in her forever home. . Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Fenced-in Yard Required   Cooper is a playful and loving mix (49% Sheltie, 16% Aussie, 12% Collie) with a personality dominated by his Aussie traits. He thrives on outdoor play, indoor cuddles and being part of the household action. Cooper loves toys, treats, learning new tricks, and solving puzzles. A physical fenced-in yard is essential for this energetic boy.   He enjoys the company of both people and dogs but has shown a preference for smaller, non-bulldog breeds. Cooper does well with dog-savvy cats—he may chase them but means no harm. While friendly, he’s protective of his space and cautious with strangers, requiring proper introductions.   Cooper’s ideal owner should have experience with herding breeds, time to dedicate to training, and a home environment where he won’t be left alone often. He’s strong on a leash, so continued training is key, and a physical fenced yard is a must. His crate is his safe haven, and he must have one in his new home.    Resilient, clever and full of love, Cooper is waiting for a forever family who will embrace his quirks and give him the care and attention he deserves. If you’re ready for a devoted companion, Cooper is ready for you!  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.December 1, 2024, 3:55 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Delaney is a beautiful, sweet, tri-color rough collie. She came from being kept with many other dogs, so everything she is experiencing in her new foster home is a new experience for her. Imagine a dog who has never heard a squeak toy, let alone know it was a dog toy. This is Delaney. Every day in her loving foster mom’s care is showing Delaney what life in a loving home means and that the world is full of joyful, not scary, things.   Delaney’s crate is her refuge when someone or something new is present. However, within days of being in her foster home, she learned all about the dog bed and the wonders of lying in it and watching tv. Delaney walks perfectly on the leash and loves to go on walks, especially trail walks. She has never been without dogs around her, so her foster mom thinks she will do best in a home with at least one other dog companion. Tail wags have begun, and paying attention to what her foster mom is doing has become a favorite activity.   This sweetie loves food so hopefully she’ll learn commands for food rewards quickly once she’s settled in and feeling more confident. Her foster mom feels a more sedate home will suit her best. She has met teens and was good with them. Delaney is waiting for her special someone to love her and bring her to her forever home. The adoption fee for Delaney is $400.00Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.December 28, 2024, 6:09 pm

PHYSICAL FENCE REQUIRED Here is what Griff wants you to know about him before you take him home: “Well well, well....just look at me!!! I am incredibly good looking, wouldn't you agree? At just 5 years old, I am ready for a lifelong relationship. And I tell you what, you could not ask for a better-behaved Smoothie, as we are called, than me!! I am immaculate in my housekeeping. I will gladly go into a crate, but I would be more than happy just to sit by your side and adore you!! And walks??? Oh, you know it!! I would love just to show you off around the neighborhood! I'm a gentleman through and through. I am a little vocal when I see other dogs, but I am just saying," Look at me!! Am I not gorgeous?" I like little people, but not too little! I get rambunctious and might knock the littlest ones over! Trust me, I need a fence. Only because small creatures excite me too much and I just may chase them! So, no felines or small doggos please. Story
Jolene’s got nothin’ on our Dolly!! Dolly knows this, and at a young 7 years old she is ready to complete her journey. Dolly is a beautiful lady that is particular about just who she wants in her life. She is fine with cats, and has lived with them previously. She is equally ok with older children that are savvy in dog behavior and dog language. Dolly came in with a massive coat. Several grooming sessions and lots of effort was put into saving her coat but sadly she had to be shaved. It was the best decision for her own health. It is starting to grow back and we are hoping it will come back healthy and shiny now that she has good nutrition (and lots of love from her Foster family)! Dolly loves to eat, and she is a little thicker than she should be. She will need a home with a diet conscious family that is willing to help Dolly achieve that girly figure we all want. She is very smart and eager to learn and will do anything for a cheese snack. Dolly would thrive in an active household, and does not necessarily need another canine companion. She will share her playtime with other pups, but her meal and space are hers. She has not had much primping or pampering in her short life, so she is just learning that being fussed over is a good thing. Dolly needs patience and love to become the sweetheart Collie she was always destined to be. Are you her special person that will show her how wonderful life is?? Dolly is being fostered in Michigan If Dolly strikes your fancy and you are ready to help him continue to be the best Collie citizen ever, please fill out an adoption application today! Don't wait! PHYSICAL FENCE REQUIRED! Introducing Delectable Dallas!! This young boy found himself homeless after a devastating illness sidelined his family. He is a little shy and uncertain right now, but nothing that love and whole hearted trust won't cure. Dallas is a cowboy, and loves a good roundup. But hey now, he is, after all, a Collie! Dallas is learning the ropes of everyday life and is so eager to lasso your heart with his sweet ways. He walks well on a leash but will need a bit of work and prefers wearing his harness. He was just neutered on 10/25/24 and working things out of his system (wink, wink). Dallas is young and ready to become your partner! PHYSICAL FENCE REQUIRED! As much as we love to talk about Collies in our care, who better than to describe themselves than Barry himself! Here is what he would like to tell you: “I am all that! Don’t be mistaken by my good looks. I am young rebel!! At just 9 monhts, I’m full of it. I do prefer the male gender as my guardian, but I could probably fall in love with a lady as well. Like most teenagers, I need some reining in. I am working real hard on commands and like my lessons. I am learning what it means to be a good house dog and they say I am a quick study but I will also need a firm hand. I am also looking for someone that challenges my intellect..I am a Collie after all and super smart! Once I learn something, I really learn it. If you’re ready to have me in your life, and you’re willing to put in a little extra time with me, I am going to be the most spectacular Collie that ever walked the earth! I’m already so very handsome, all you need to do is groom my mind a little bit. She is a very sweet and loving dog to all humans she meets. She is very smart also, it’s just amazing to watch her learn her way about the house and yard once she has memory of the paths to take.Dahlia has a clear voice to let you know when she needs to go outside to potty. She will also let you the smell of food she wants to share and if she feels alone and lost in her dark world she will bark to say,HEY,WHERE ARE MY HUMANS FURRY PALS? She loves to play with her fur pals here, so a playful pup full of energy would really be great for her. Story
Silky soft, snuggly, and eager to please all the people he meets. Oakley is willing to trust new people, show his belly, give kisses. Knows 'sit,' 'lie down,' and getting acquainted with 'stay,' 'leave it,' and 'get down. Very interested in other dogs, but willing to be instructed to 'leave it' and carry on walking when we passed yards or houses with barking dogs. Fairly good on a leash. Very energetic, will be a good companion for someone athletic. But also Willing to hang out quietly while I you work on the computer or watched TV; even willing to ignore the nearby cats most of time. Curious about them but not wanting to interact with them. Before considering him as a pet do research on the breed. He is a herding dog and will try to steer you where he thinks you need to go. This will include nipping at your heels and hands if they are by your side. He will be good with older kids that understand his behavior. He is in a foster home so if you are interested in adoptiong me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.    November 6, 2024, 3:21 pm
